Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Quite fearful to be honest we struggled against the Afghan's at home last summer so we are going to be up against it in Asian conditions. Team composition has changed a bit with some new blood getting a run of games, J.Little in particular looks a decent death bowler, something we have need since A.Cusack retired. I hope S.Singh has a good tour, a guy who has really upped his game recently, adding to his variations with the ball and better performances with the bat aswell.
In short I'd say we should aim to win 1 T20I
Make the ODI's competitive (Afghan's gunning for the summer CWC)
Our best shot at a win could be the stand alone Test (Which should be a great occasion regardless).

Ireland to bat first after winning the toss in the first T20

Balbirnie gone now - this could be awful

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Stirling gone. 39/3. Thats the top 3 batsmen gone within 7 overs.

First proper tour for the Irish cricket team which is exciting although it appears that every single game is in the same place in Dehra Dun in Northern India, so not really much of a tour.

Will be tough as the Irish team is in something of a transition but some fresh players have been introduced and hopefully the experience will do them some good.

Nice six there by Simi Singh.

Singh stumped and Ireland 52/4. Tough going.

64/4 after 11. Hopefully we can get to some sort of respectable total and give the bowlers something to aim for

Kahn just into the attack. Eeek.

Kahn takes Thompson with his second ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

two balls later and Getkate out.

    66/6 after 12.

Will be a miracle to get to 100 now

120 reachable. Not great but at least give some semblance of a chance for the bowlers, slim as it would be. These 2 guys done decent job in the circumstances.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

101/6 after 17 overs. Something of a recovery.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

132/6 at the end. Great stuff from Dockrell and Poynter top scoring batsmen with 34 and 31 respectively. Some sort of respectability to the total

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

16 off first over, but a wicket in the second

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    Zazai is out. 30/2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

30/3. Two in an over for Rankin

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Decent chance of winning this game way it’s going.

84/5 after 14. Afghanistan behind run rate but Ireland need wickets now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Gonna need couple of quick wickets, still a chance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

15 run over, that’s just about it. Made it interesting for a while at least.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

All done with 4 balls to spare, at least it wasnt as grim as things looked early on I suppose

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Afghanistan win toss and will bat first in second ODI

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    5/0 after 1.

The sprinklers came on unexpectedly and play has been stopped. That's a new one to me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

15 off the 3rd over after a solid start of 7 off the first two

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    64/0 after six. Getting pummeled

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    122/0 after 10.

    Zazai 83 off 35

    152/0 after 12.

Better get the record books ready.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Zazai ton (102) from 42 balls

  • Registered Users Posts: 157 ✭✭gavinoontheweb

This is just grim, getting absolutely pummelled for 6 consistently. This could be a very long series

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Stirling goes for 24 runs in the 13th over including 4 wides, 3 sizes and remarkably a dot.

    175/0 after 13

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

263 is the record innings i believe. Certainly very achievable from here you’d imagine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Can someone turn on the sprinklers again please and leave them on this time

3 sixes in a row in kobs second over

    234/0 and three overs left

Highest t20 score is 263 by Australia and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Highest individual score is 175 by Chris Gayle. Could all go in the next few overs.

    Depressing.

This now the record t20 international partnership

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

248/1 with two overs left. This all about the records now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

New batsman six off his first ball, of course

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    Another wicket but not zazai

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

This now the record t20 score ever

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Nabi out after hitting a pair of sixes. Three balls left

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,234 ✭✭✭VillaMad

Absolutely pathetic bowling. Yes Afghanistan are batting brilliantly but the bowling is short or wide and just asking to be hit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Boundary to finish for zazai. 278/3

    A superb 162 off 62 for zazai
