Well that must have been sensational. Had to go out for a while to return to a nice surprise. Fair dues to Balbirnie & Dockrell, they've stood up :)

Wow what a performance from Balbirnie. Never as happy to be proved wrong. The skill set might be on the wane but the fight is still in the team.

If the selectors can get the team right this series is there for the taking!

    Stirling
    McCollum
    Balbirnie
    KOB
    Dockerell

    Poynter
    Tucker

    Singh
    McCarthy
    Murtagh
    Rankin

Amazing stuff from balbirnie, credit also to dockrell who put in a fine supporting knock. Balbirnie had 8 ODI sixes before today, he doubled that total today.

I imagine that must rank up there with the very best batting displays in irish odi history? KOB out clear in front obviously.

Tim Murtagh got a bit expensive there at the end of Afg innings - was it 24 in two overs? Suppose he could have been deliberately serving up full tosses in the hope of a catch. Think I'd prefer tight accurate bowling and make the batsman work.

Murtagh hasnt the pace for the death overs. I'd bowl him out early. Our best bowler with the new ball.

Ireland win the toss and will bowl in the deciding ODI

Zazai out early on. Had just hit consecutive boundaries too

    71/5

But the tail enders are in now. Do well to keep it under 250

Going well enough but no give away. Runs seem to be a little hard to come by. Weather looks cool and cloudy? Chance of rain? Afg could get to 200 handily enough.

Why is this the decider though Kev. Thought there was a 5th match on Sunday?

Clearly I am an idiot. Thought this was the final ODI. Carry on so.

    164/7 after 40.

They could easily add another 100 here unless we get wickets.

Ah, thought maybe it'd been cancelled :) Yep our death bowling is not always the best. Think if they start throwing the bat though, they mightn't get to 50?

    Nabi 50. 182/7 43

Going be looking at a 250+ chase if they don’t tidy this up. Will be a challenge i think.

Yep, you'd have to hand it to the Afghans. They've done well after a ropey start.

    15 off 45th over - 200/7

  • Registered Users Posts: 914 ✭✭✭lambayire

    here we go again :mad::mad:

  • Registered Users Posts: 713 ✭✭✭wicorthered

This is pathetic. The series was there to be won. The captain is rubbish why has Stirling or KOB not been used to try and break these partnerships.

    We'll be 29/3 after 10 overs!
