Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Serious amount of rain fallen in Cork city since the early hours and still raining. All todays games in my kids football league were called off last night - fair dues to the organisers for acting decisively rather than having parents dealing with the unknown until the last minute. Any real pitch well waterlogged at this stage.

16.2mm at Cork Airport since midnight up to 1200 UTC and 17.1mm at Roches Point during the same period.

Heavy rain will turn to sleet and snow today. Much of the snow will be above 200 metres with just a local dusting of snow at lower levels. Wet and slushy roads are likely to become icy in places overnight as temperatures drop below freezing.

rain basically falling straight down, no wind at all here in cork city. Very heavy, big drops though.

Looking at reports on Wundermap, it looks like the extreme south coast is in the warm sector, with places along the coast having a big jump in temperature in recent hours. Examples of places in the warm sector are Midleton, Cobh and Clonakilty areas of Cork which are reporting double digit temperatures.

Cork city is reporting temperatures of about 7c so looks to be right on the border of the two air masses as Mallow, a little to the north, is reporting 3c.

The south of Waterford and Wexford counties are also reporting in the high single digit to low double digits.

North half of Kerry is generally between 1 and 3c, hence the snow.

What I'm seeing now is that there is a wedge of colder air stretching from Kerry in a north east direction from there with temperatures generally averaging about 3c (give or take 1c) and slowly falling.

Winds are pretty strong from a south or south east direction along the south coast but light and quite variable in direction elsewhere.
