Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Like the stip. No idea who I want yet.

Are double main events counting or is it simply participants that matches went on last?

Double mains are fine. I think you had the stip a few years back, I loved it at the time.

I've put my request into the mods to repurpose this thread into our discussion thread as well, keep it mostly together :)

FFS last to pick. Is it another random draw for the next round or will the order snake?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,491 ✭✭✭thebostoncrab

Can I pull a HHH and say “Well you know, some people said your match was the main event pal”?

Lucky for you NITRO Round 2 is reverse order... so you will get a nice double pick :D

There'll be a stip too but I'll reveal that later when we're closer to the end of this round

Does this mean WM 2 had three main events because each venue had a match card with an advertised main even

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 52,128 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

Yep, all three main events would count

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,885 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

    Won't do it this year

Best of luck to everyone and im sure ill be reading the events

BH has been PMed, will be on when he wakes up I'm sure :)

Delighted with Hogan, haven't had him before and was hoping he would fall to me in the event that Austin once more slipped away from me :D

Hogan is great fun to write for. He did a mighty fine job for me last year.

Happy to have HBK on board myself. PM sent and thread title changed, kept the sign up part incase anyone wants to pop in to add themselves as a sub. Mighty fine roster of players we have this year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,773 ✭✭✭connemara man

    Pick made PM sent
Had three in mind (was hoping my other options would be taken) and decided to go with Roman such a good guy to right for especially these days

Is this the first time in a while theres been the full 20 players in the game?

Mr Nice Guy must be giving some serious consideration to his pick. :pac:

Yeah, first time under my run as organiser for certain. We had 13 in 2019, 16 in 2020.

Not sure how many beaker had in his final year, might have been the last year there was the full contingent.

I'm presuming the right Mr. Nice Guy was PMed :D

If I remember correctly there's two on Boards and the difference is the '.' after Mr

I got caught out PMing the wrong person a few years back is the only reason I know this :pac::pac:

We certainly have had 20 before. At least twice if I recall correctly.

20 players is the perfect number IMO.

Have zero idea of who to draft first. I would have been interested in Roman and Hogan.

Hogans always someone I wanted to book. As good as those picked before him are, his off camera persona outweighs those of Austin and Rock. A wonderful man to book I imagine.

Shows how off the ball I've been this year. Only realized that myself while making my pick this morning.

    Done now.

If anyone needs to find last years thread it's now linked in the aging hot threads sticky along with several of the older draft threads

Listen, that first year as a Dad is a doozy, Im just glad your back.

HBK is a great pick, very versatile and top of any card. Had i not had him before, Id 100 percent try draft him again.

I like to try draft new guys that never appeared in BCW, but like last year when I redrafted Flair, if the right storyline comes up then you gotta go for who fits it best regardless of your previous draft choices.

Delighted with my first pick. Nearly got him a few times in the past but usually missed out at the last moment.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 52,128 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

MNG takes Lesnar, seems like a match made in heaven tbh :D

Had a lot of fun with him last year!

  • Registered Users Posts: 303 ✭✭Uncle Walt

I've always had the gameplan of picking the best possible pick for each available round, the heartache of pre planning stuff the first year or 2 made me realise to ditch that strategy fairly quick

I usually do the same but never in my main event feuds. I always try thinking of a few possible feuds and have them fleshed out in my head.

This year though Im drawing a blank.

Taker was the only guy I had a vague plan for and I have always wanted to draft him.

Again, very versatile and surprisingly one pick that I dont think Ive ever seen used in a winning draft roster.

Yeah I considered him for sure. There's a lot of scope there between The Deadman and biker personas.

What I find truly interesting is his locker room leader position. I always felt that Id book him and a GM/owner in a story involving his loyalty and requests made by said owner.

yeah in a way I really enjoyed planning it out. it was a very marmite roster it was either for you or not

First draft for myself this year, reading back other years its amazing

huge scope for Roman this year

one of my ideas gone, but we shall see!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,804 ✭✭✭A Brad Maddox Guy

MNG with Lesnar should be very interesting. I loved having Brock in the past, I consider it tough to find the right opponent for him but certain MNG could make me believe a random jobber pick has a chance at this stage.

Also delighted to see we have the full 20 this year, and that there's some new and returning faces as I think it helps freshen things up.

    Nope :pac:

The draw is randomised in most rounds, though Round 2 will be a reverse order so you'll be last in Round 2.

Rounds 5, 10 and 15 are then based on average pick position, so if you're being handed a bum deal with a few rounds you'll do well in those.

There's also sometimes a round based off the Royal Rumble, I'm not sure where that will fit in just yet, depends on the pace of the draft in all honesty.

  • Registered Users Posts: 679 ✭✭✭daithi1989

The waiting game.... Could be bout half 8/9 before I get my pick up, should it get to me by then!

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,767 ✭✭✭Mr. Guappa

Brock was the one guy I wanted to pick - had a plan in mind for him but he was always unlikely to reach me at 11.

I'm trying not to, but I can't help formulating rough ideas in my head based on who might be available. Locking in on a guy, maybe a handful of choices, then being gutted as they are picked off one by one, only to convince myself of a new, better plan :)

Great to have 20 on board once more - it's the ideal amount of players.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 52,128 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

Yes, we are going to have to remember to just make our planned picks rather than thinking 'Ah, it will be grand for another round' this year.

Or that's what I keep telling myself anyways :pac:

You cant rely on previous years round placement either. AEWs popularity and the influx of new talent surely will have a big impact.

Just checked this off the previous rosters.

The last year we had a full roster of 20 players was 2018, the last year you ran the draft.

2019, which was my first year we had 15, and 2020 had 16.

Into my third year now running it and finally get the 20 so delighted with that :)

You took something that was losing interest and added new life into it. Thats a great achievement. The changes last year really helped IMO, so bravo.
