The X8 is more a tablet from what I can see, the X7 is more like a PC.

I have two if them in the house now. I find there a lot easier to use and navigate kodi, with a wireless mouse and keyboard.

Plus the kids can use the Microsoft word for school work.

I can't see any advantage of an android box over these. And I've used the ATV2, MX, MXq, And the M8.

hdmi cable connects to TV when I signed up I got 10x5 dollar vouchers
they have a live chat but its in china so time difference
The offer only lasts a couple of more days ( but like a lot of these sites that could be just marketing)

Great bit of kit, comes with everything you need to connect it to the TV. When you unbox it you'll assume they've sent you the wrong power adapter with it until you lift out the plastic tray and discover a converter hidden underneath. No problems ordering from *site with no name* either.

Nice bonus is a 12month subscription to MS Office, I used it to offset my existing subscription bring the net cost of the device close to zero.

Make sure you use that convertor aswell. I swapped it for one I already had, and was only getting a black screen when the box launched.

Switched back to using that one and its perfect ever since.

I've a bluetooth keyboard attached to mine and a wired mouse (only because I can't find the spare BT mouse) so I can't see any reason why couch-mode would be a problem.

just a quick update I got a message from these guys earlier I think these boxes are on back order so will be 2 weeks before they are in stock I think because the only sent me a sku number ?
I am now waiting in a chat queue of about 80 people to find out for sure
What an incompetent shower of Cnuts 5 fu(king days to check their stock :mad: I have other items on the order so I will probably wait
Just a heads up if you want one maybe try to source one elewhere

I awoke to an email from them wanting some kind of id proof from me, license or cc photo (with only last 4 digits viewable) before they'll accept the order.

If they're now going to tell me that it's not even in stock, I might just cancel. I seen them on Amazon too btw. Am I missing something with Kodi here? I use Plex to stream to the cheapo Now TV boxes attached to all my TVs but I also have a UPC sub for the main TV. I had a look at Kodi and I just don't get it. Unless I am missing something obvious here there is no way I could ditch my UPC sub. "Stream not found", "Channel error" etc. I just couldn't be living with that. It might be ok for grabbing the odd football match - but as a replacement for live TV for the family , no chance.

Use it as a compliment to your normal tv,as it is if you have a family that are used to 'normal' tv then don't use it as your primary tv source.It's handy for watching the latest movies and tv shows-I work odd hours so use it to catch up on shows I like,I find that I don't watch tv aimlessly any more with it.Kodi along with certain apps can give a great selection of stuff that you won't get on UPC or Sky.

Thanks, but I still don't get it. People are saying that this is a replacement for cable and it's not. Not even close. There is no way I would cancel my standard cable for this. Filmon is piss poor. I'm really struggling to see the advantage of Kodi over Plex on a cheap Now TV box. We have 240Mb download speeds here now. If you want to watch something you can find it and download it in minutes.

I installed Kodi on the lappy to have a look at it and went through three pages of instructions to install Netflix only to find out that I ended up with a Netflix channel that I actually have to pay for? This is not piracy as I know it!

Then you are certainly missing a lot and you probably are better off sticking with UPC.
The guys on this thread are very helpful to anyone with the patience and interest in kodi, they gave me a load of tips to get started and basically Google is your friend but you seem very dismissive and impatient and you also don't have as android box so i reckon the lads will give you all the help you deserve.

I am not trying to start a row here - I really just am struggling to see how Kodi can replace cable TV? Filmon was just an example. And I do not need an android box to sample it. You have to have patience and an interest in researching the system that is kodi, i can't say much as we all know it's not allowed but if i hardly never watch live tv, everything i watch is recorded and every episode of every series you could ever dream of is available in full hd on kodi if you know where to look, the only live tv i watch are matches and a good example is last Saturday i watched 90 minutes of spurs v stoke in full hd without one stutter or buffer, that match wasn't on sky sports, bt, espn or setanta but it was accessible through kodi, so in a way you're correct people aren't replacing their sky and upc they're actually upgrading and getting a lot more and getting all the top shows when they air in the states the following morning instead of the following week.
If i come home from work at half 6 abd want to put on the tv their is nothing on live tv only depressing misery porn news and if I'm depraved enough i can get that through the rte player on my smart tv, the same With tv3 and for anything live on the English channels i have all the ITV's and BBC's free to air on my sky box.

It's horses for courses. but Kodi does not replace live TV - end of. I don't do Sky Movies. If I want a new movie or TV show I will grab it at guaranteed 720p or 1080p and stream it locally rather than rely on some mickey mouse stream. The only benefit I can see of these Smart TV boxes is the live streams and they are shít.

Please tell me how these boxes are better than Plexing to a Now TV box?
