Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

To bbe honest with you i dont like the Quayside Shopping Centre. I dont know why but it is not that nice.

+1 I don't like it either. It's badly laid out and I don't like the low ceilings on the Mezzanine level or that you have to walk through Next to get to the other side.

To be honest I'm not a fan of it either, the layout is terrible and I feel I should bend over on the Mezz level due to the low ceilings but there seems to be more footfall of customers than Johnston Court and seems to be more successful in comparison.

ya i hate that, they could have easily constructed a walkaway to the left hand side of next.

It is very confusing walking around there. The lifts are absolutely tiny too. One family per ride, our buggy just fits in.

Don't staff need to be trained before the shop opens? I'd imagine it will be later than Oct 26th.

Rickie Devine opened his new riding stables in Ballymote at the weekend.

It looks brilliant to me (never been in a riding stables/arena before).

Massive crowd there and Ocean FM were broadcasting on the day. Was told things didn't finish up til after 11 that night.

Best of luck to him in his venture anyway.

I thought the Horse Riding Centre was in Keash. Is Keash near Ballymote?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,797 ✭✭✭bobcar61

Supposedly Tom Tailor is re-opening under new management and are looking for staff at the moment. Will try and find more information on this.

The new shop in Quayside is VM2, it's opening on Thursday the 8th. It basically a Vero Moda shop just smaller.

Yeah, it's between Keash and Ballymote, thought more people would know where Ballymote was though!

Is the riding stables next to his House on the Keash Rd out fo Ballymote ?
(or are you already in Keash at that stage)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,811 ✭✭✭✭Slidey

Yep, they are just on the Keash side of his house

Quayside is so badly laid out.
You'd find it hard to believe it was purpose built.
It's more like something that was converted and the car park was just an afterthought. Whats the big shop going in? Supervalu?

Has Tile Savers in the retail park closed for good? There was a sign in the window saying that the shop was closed but it didn't say whether it was only for today or for good.

Tile Market are gone from the retail park for at least 7 months now. I got my tiles from the Tile Warehouse in Collooney back in March and their prices were very reasonable

Thanks for that! :) I go to Homebase up there and that's about it.

Turf n' Surf will be the take away.

I would much rather eat food than have to conceptualize it. Last time I conceptualized food, I had the virtual runs for a week. :D

Looks like a nice store, must call in. Is this the same crowd that had the pet store out the Bundoran Road that burnt down?

Yeah, I thought it was for carroroe as well. Oh well, happy happy. We were there last night and they stock Early Learning Centre toys as well and there will be a kids hairdresser opening soon. :D

Today was the first time I've seen the car park there almost full.

Loads of gorgeous little baby clothes at the entrance, baby mamas beware!

    Which is to remain unchanged
"Seventeen councillors voted at a meeting on Monday to a proposal that, in effect, hinders the Newbay Doherty Group from its plans to redevelop the Carraroe Retail Park that would create badly needed jobs and more choice for shoppers."
    http://www.sligochampion.ie/news/seventeen-county-councillors-voted-to-keep-status-quo-1934148.html

Then the same councillors voted to rezone land at Carraroe for a private hospital against the County Manager's advice.

Change to benefit the plain people of Sligo: NO
    Change to benefit speculators: YES

i know of one bussiness in a rual sligo town that has spent money on a new location within that two and was to move a week ago but the engineers in the council will not let this happen because they have decided they need to do traffic reports e.t.c now its plain to be seen that these people within the council are going around at the moment trying to make work for themselves just to look busy,
in my oppinion our council and councilors are a pathetic bunch in these days when people are trying to develop ne bussiness and create employment thes fools are destroying this because they have their own agendas and protecting their own group of cronies

Quite a while since anything has been posted here. I've not been in town for quite a while but I took the trip in earlier today.

Noticed a new cafe open on stephen street called Reidy's. I think it's where Gurns was, next door to Colemans.

Also noticed a shop in Wine Street car park called The Farm Shop, only saw it from a distance so didn't see what they sell, presumably organic products though.

I'm nearly sure I noticed another new shop but i can't for the life of me remember what it's called.

Ya that restuarant is owned by the family that have 'Laura's' out in Carney. It's handy cos the food is nice out there but such a long journey, hope the one in town is good.

There is a new shop opened in Tesco arcade too where the Travel agents used to be, forget the name of it though.

I think it's called "something for everyone", correct me if I'm wrong.

I hear Harvey Norman are looking for a suitable sized store in Sligo.
In fairness there should be plenty to choose from.

As long as that idiot shouty Australian doesn't come with them, it'd be good to have them here!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,030 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Not a huge Harvey Norman's fan to be honest!

Outside of their sales, they're typically not great value... and stuff of merit in their sales is often limited to 2 - 3 units.

For example - you see a ad for them in the newspaper advertising a 40" 1080P TV for €499, they'll only have maybe 1 - 3 of them in each store.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,797 ✭✭✭bobcar61

I wouldn't be a huge fan of them either but if a store is planning on opening in Sligo, isn't that something to be happy about?
