Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

191 removal van- Mercedes. No idea of the model. The removal business must be doing well now the recession is over.

Seen a brand new Transit yesterday in black and the DRLs on them are very fancy for a van.

Yeah, the Transit got those DRL's lights about mid 2018, they do look nice. I saw a 191 Transit on the N2 a few weeks ago too.

    191-T. The wife’s new Q3.

Was in Limerick with it yesterday and was behind a Citroen dispatch that had 191-L but the number matched the wife’s.

Not quite a 191 but interestingly, I seen an unregged Citroen C5 Aircross heading south on the N7 just before Naas. It was on promo plates (Not even on trade plates like). White. Looked really good in fairness to it.

I'd imagine it was probably headed to Duffy's in Newbridge. But not sure on the legalities. I'm sure it should have been trailer'd down.

Seen a lovely 191 black Volvo XC60. It has to be the best looking car in in the Volvo range.
I also seen a lovely 191 blue Ford Kuga, and a 191 grey Kia Ceed.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

I spotted a new Corolla hatch in Clondalkin today. It looked well in the metal.

They do as long as they’re not poverty spec they are a very appealing looking car. Toyota have really up their game on styling lately- CHR, Aygo, new Corolla all great looking cars

Saw 3 Skoda Octavia 191 today. Obviously there is still a market for saloons. However driving home on motorway + looking around at all the Mondeo,Passats , Avenis which won't be on the roads in an other few years as no one buying these anymore.

Every day I see a 191C Lexus CT200 in Sonic Titanium, which looks gorgeous. Maybe someday, if I’m lucky, the wife will let me drive it......:o

I think they don't look very special. Maybe it looks better in the metal but from the adds I have seen of it it looks very ordinary no real special styling like a Ferrari or a Lamborghini for instance.

    Yes they have.

I never realised until today that the front of the saloon is different to the hatch and estate but they both look good.

I wouldn’t compare the styling on an 8 series bmw to a Ferrari or Lamborghini, never mind it’s 2-3 times the price.

However, if someone here in an Irish context wants a GT car, and the €170k 911 is the traditional option, then just save €50k and get a top spec 8 series, it’s hard to beat I would think.

From my own perspective, I’m about to change and suddenly there’s a lot of nearly new 640d’s plummeting in value

191 D BMW X5 badged M50D on Shelbourne Road earlier. No reason to doubt its provenancevbutvthe M50D badge looks a bit odd.

2 in my neighbourhood different class than the passat/modeo etc so still seems to be a market for them.

Seen a 191 Audi A3saloon 3.0 l on the n4 yesterday evening. Surely at that spec an A4 would be the way to go

It’s a 30 new Audi naming convention not a 3.0 litre. Probably a 1.6 litre 116bhp if it was followed by TDI.

Was in a Toyota garage today for a tyre kick, I'm not a Toyota lover but by god the new Rav 4 and corolla saloon are the first toyota in years I properly like. Corolla saloon is very like a car I cant put my finger on. Such a shame no diesel

I think so - I saw a Dublin based dealer on Facebook inviting people to come down and look at the Corolla Saloon hybrid.

The guy was in front of one but couldnt really get a good look

New model Focus in silver - quite likely a Titanium as it had the chrome finish around the windows etc

Do garages pre-reg cars at the end of Feb, Mar etc also, or is that just a January phenomenon?

Yep my local dealer in the sticks had one lol so I'm sure they all do now. I was even surprised they had the hatch in it. Incidentally the hatch is actually gorgeous in the new red/maroon colour with a black roof.

interesting that it’s completely debadged - I thought it was an a8 at first glance.

Will also be interesting to see the Feb numbers for Audi and Merc - will their wltp woes continue. I assume all new Audi’s are currently automatic?

Well this A6 (2.0 TDi 204hp S-Line) was an automatic (S-Tronic) and according to MotorTax.ie it's at the €200 a year mark! I was thinking the WLTP wound have this higher, at maybe €390! I must research this WLTP a little more!

Yet more carnage in Feb for Mercedes -36% (down 43% in Jan).
why are Dacia -65% in Feb? a bit odd.

Tesla down from 19 in feb last year to 7 this year. The delays with the model 3 are telling. By the time it reaches these shores it’ll be a 4 year old design already too, and the Model S is starting to age.
    Lots of Konas selling though.

    Interesting stats.
Saloon car segment is dying rapidly (down 25% YOY), can see why manufacturers are dropping them from their future line-ups.
Jeep (SUV, X-over) segment only one growing YOY.

True. Porsche sales being killed by lack of diesel options presumably, just 7 new registrations (-77%), 6 Macans from last years stock presumably and 1 Panamera

There's another odd stat with Febraury.

Looks like the Renault Zoe tanked in February, it had 77 sales in January & only 9 in February.

Comparing this to other electric car like the Nissan Leaf with 296 in January & 105 in February
or the BMW i3 with 42 in January & 35 in February.

I can't compare figures of the Hyundai Kona or Ioniq as they also have other power sources.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,402 ✭✭✭sk8board

I wonder is the drop off in the Zoe due to garage pre-reg’s of unsold Jan stock?

Big fall for Ford in feb too, -36%, versus -15% in Jan.

VW Tiguan topping the sales table in Feb - we almost changed my Mrs golf 7 into one last week - they are really pushing the 1% financing and a bunch of tech and r-line packs at steep ‘discounts’

    Kona - 302 Jan and 119 Feb

Ioniq 41 in Jan and 13 in February.

Electric supply can be hit and miss with Hyundai - they don't seem to have a big enough battery supply (remember all the cars are been divided up world wide)

The stats site allows you filter by both model and power source (ie petrol/diesel/electric) etc.

There’s still a 5-600% increase in electric versus last year, and most interesting that last year Tesla accounted for 31 of the 179 sold, and this year it’s just 17 out of 1,180.
Tesla are barely 1% of electric car sales here, never mind the total, but a massively disproportionate amount of the column inches

Most of the Tesla sales last year were due to the BIK scheme.
The changes for this year's budget with cost cap is the reason IMO for the big drop.

Shows Tesla's real market share/viability in the Irish market at their current pricing.

The 0% BIK tax incentive for companies played a big part with EV versions of Kona sold too.
