Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Wow! that supernatural is impressive.
IMO the smaller and tighter the beads and the less that manage to stay on the car the better the wax.

I have Colonite 476 on order, cant wait to see how good it is for beading & shine. No doubt of its durability though.

As I said earlier in the topic, a couple of the car once freshly washed and waxed...

    Excellent stuff dar, NXT 2.0?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,106 ✭✭✭dar83

    Yup, two coats. ;)

Washed, Meguairs Paint Cleaner, Meguiars Polish and then two coats of NXT 2.0.

And a little help from mother nature of course. :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,854 ✭✭✭✭MetzgerMeister

The wax in that 3 step system isn't great. You made the right choice by using the paint cleaner, polish and NXT. Gold class is also a good one.

Washed the car today and gave it another quick coat of Collinite 845
    That makes it
3 coats of Carlack Long Life Sealant
    and
    2 coats of 845

Was getting darkish when pics were taken so are not the best

BW - nice try but that's dripping, not beading :P

Get a bottle of wax and apply it to the car. You'll enjoy doing it and you'll be very happy with the results if you do it properly!

    :( Okay Chaps.

I have to be honest though... Its really windowlene that I tried to pass of a biblical beading. :o

But Il pick up wax and give it a proper go! Which wax? Turtle wax?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,854 ✭✭✭✭MetzgerMeister

Turtle wax is cheap, messy and will give you a headache. You're better off to get something like Meguiar's NXT 2.0. It's about e15 for a bottle but it will last a good while.

Is it REALLY that bad tho??

I just bought turtle wax polish/cleaner. And TW platinum series wax...

The reviews on the wax in particular seem really good and some people say it's better than megs...
And apparently TW is owned by megs??

So... Should I be a snob and bring it back for something else or will it do a nice job anyways?

Haven't waxed in years but have a DA and hopefully getting some chemical guys hexlogics next week so really I'm new to it all

Incidentally I have a bottle of autoglym super resin polish on the way... Compulsive eBay purchase!!

Cheers... And I'll stick up some pics when I'm done polishing and waxing da beast!

    Marty.

I achieved this result using one coat of Turtlewax, not a bad product but I guess it is a bit messy.

BW - Try harder! Tell me this much, if you rub your hand along the paint, is it a bit rough? I would think it's as rough as a badger's arse with the way the water is lodging on it. If you give the whole car a proper claying then apply a proper wax, you will get great beading.

On another note, I got the best beading I've ever had on a car when I gave the Bimmer a going last weekend. I'll be working on it again tomorrow so will take beading pics on sunday since it's supposed to rain.

Bargains don't always mean they're any good!

The clay isn't that expensive, Halfords sell the Meguiar's clay in a small black box. You'll also need a spray-bottle of water as a lubricant.
