I think Sony have said that all PS4 will be back compatible but have they said PS3 too?

Probably get a 10 hour trial. Think that happens with most new games

Need for Speed, NFS Rivals and NFS Payback; are any of those similar to what NFS Underground 2 had?

Presumably Skate, Fight Night, Alice: Madness Returns and the Dead Space trilogy will be available when the PS5 releases? Because if they are those games alone will keep me going for the better part of a year.

Need for speed 2015 is the closest to underground 2. Rivals is real arcadey, like burnout i found and payback is absolute ****e.

I think i read the ps3 architecture is so bad, they couldn't make it compatible with ps4 and i have a feeling ps5 will only work with ps4 as in backwards compatibility wise.

Agreed, Skate and Fight Night (as well as other classic ps3 games )would be absolute gems to have again.

Does anyone know if the new Star Wars (out in November i think) will be on it? Or will there be a lag before its available?

Prob be a ten hour trial but gated to the first few levels. Similar to the way mirrors edge was. Enough to get a feel for the game without giving it away. Full game then in the vault 6 or so months later.

Will there be any more games added or is what we have pretty much it?

I got a full day out of UFC 3 yesterday anyway and downloaded Mass Effect Andromeda gonna try that during the week , well worth it

I think almost everything they made on ps4 is in there now. 36 or so games. Sea of Solitude and Anthem are prob the last few going into the Vault this year.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,585 ✭✭✭Jerichoholic

Yeah, seems to be everything. Full list here https://www.ea.com/games/library/ps4

I bought most of them already, all the NSF, Mass Effect, Dragon Age etc. Getting some fun out of the Sims though.

Another bonus is they are all digital. So even if you do own them you can re-install the digital copy and avoid swaping disks when changing games.

Traded in FIFA 19 to CEX for €14 before it becomes worthless anyway with FIFA 20. Helped cover some of the EA Access sub. It is ridiculously good value for €24 a year.

I jumped for this - €24 for a year is amazing value, and there's a fair few games i'd have an interest in.

Already downloaded Burnout & UFC 3. Bit of a shame Rory McIlroy's Golf game got pulled.

Are the Madden games much good lads, for a fella with virtually zero clue about the sport?

The Madden story mode is fun for someone with little knowledge, kinda like Friday night lights if you ever watched that show.

Yeah, the Madden games are made for all audiences. The commentator talks you through what's happening, they're great fun, especially for couch multiplayer.

Great drinking game too, as there's lots of breaks in the action :)

I remember playing madden on the mega drive i think bit the action stopping every 10 seconds and having to pick plays went over my head. Just kept picking hail mary and trying to catch the long ball. Don't think American foosball is for me but ye've made me want to try madden 19 to see what it's like of that's open to noobs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,927 ✭✭✭Grumpypants

Normal madden is as daft as the real sport but the story is fun. If you played the journey in fifa it is similar.

God now I see the big hullabaloo over Mass Effect it's god awful , like worse than dog **** awful you can really see the seeds of Anthems failure in it

An absolute shadow of the ME trilogy, i think that's what makes it worse.

Yep I enjoyed the 1st 2 immensely that's why i'd stayed away from this

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,283 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

Yeah, I'm in 2 minds about downloading Andromeda again. I got as far as the second(?) planet and gave up. Just nothing memorable about it, and it didn't urge me forward like the original trilogy. Don't know if I've left enough time since playing it to give it another go.

Same with Dragon Age Inquisition, couldn't finish it when it originally came out, downloaded it 2 nights ago and played the intro, have no interest in going back since.

While I still think it's fantastic value, we need more games in there as over half are sports. Is it the same price on Xbox?

Same price but because the Xbox has back compatabity they can add a few 360 games

Anthem has been added to EA Access today. The full game, not the 10 hour trial which has been there for a while

NHL 20 trial is there now too if any wants to give it a 10-hour blast.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,553 ✭✭✭murphyebass

Played a couple of hours of Anthem this evening.

To be honest I’ve well got my €25 worth out of EA Access between FIFA, battlefield V and now this.

Amazing value if you’re a little behind on latest releases like I am and don’t want / need the very latest version of a sports game etc..

Need for Speed Heat 10 hour trial is live. 30GB download.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,585 ✭✭✭Jerichoholic

    10 hours should be plenty.

It's pretty good so far. So much better than the last few for sure.

There'll be no 10hr trial period for new Star Wars game on EA Access

Yeah, saw they said that instead you can still get 10% discount and exclusive dlc cosmetic items. It's a pity they didn't even give a 15 minute linear area to show off combat and traversal. I've zero interest in star wars but like the look of it, could really have done with the trial.

As for the NFS trial being locked, a lot of people complaining on twitter. PlayStation say it's normal for trials to lock when games release but others say not true. I was still planning on trying fifa 20 at some point.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,585 ✭✭✭Jerichoholic

Was wondering what happened to my trial. What a load of ****e that 10 hour trial is.

It's a good thing it's only €25 for the year, if you're not into Sports games it's nearly not worth it.

It is worth it though, whether you play sports games or not.

    That's why I said nearly.

Sorry for bumping when there hasn't been an update but they really need to add a game soon! NFS Heat, NHL 20, Fifa 20 should be coming soon. Star Wars would be a nice addition but can't see that happening til next year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,283 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

I keep forgetting I have this! Has completely removed any hint of maybe getting Heat again, or Jedi Order at all. I'll just wait. Noice!

NHL 20 was added to the vault on the 29th April.

Absolutely the same. Played about 10 - 15 hours of Anthem and I’d say a similar amount of various sports games and Need for Speed’s, so got my money’s worth for the year.

Good to see fifa added. A mate of mine has been on at me to buy that for ages.

Nearly bought NBA 2020 earlier for a fiver in the sale and then though wtf am I doin I have a version of it on access. I couldn’t care less if it’s two seasons ago. It’s basketball. I won’t notice the difference ffs!

I still bought NBA 2K20. Yeah, Live 19 is on there, but the 2K version just plays better imo. But definitely give it a go, some prefer Live.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,904 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

I'm thinking of installing Live 19 again. Playing 2k20 a bit lately and even though it's got ton of features, I'm finding the games get a bit boring. I find Live 18 & 19 more physical and solid, more fun to play, especially the street ball.

It's not downloadable via the App (gives the option but doesn't do anything), nor is it in The Vault, but you can download it directly from the store.

And oh my god it's slow to download! Gonna take 6 hours to download 35Gb according to this. Downloaded Greedfall the other night (26Gb) in just above an hour.

Games can be hella slow on PSN sometimes :(

If you aren't using the console, put it into rest mode. I think you know yourself, but this is always the fastest way for a game to be downloaded!

I enjoy the NFS games to a certain extent but can’t help think the whole open world thing has been done to death.

I’d would love to see an arcade racer that was just more simple. Give me a level complete it move on.

Ridge racer for example was like this. God I miss Ridge racer.

Fully agree. Really can't get into any of the recent NFS. Loved ridge racer on psone

It just feels like they’re over complicating it.

Maybe they feel they need to do it to justify that there’s enough content or something.

Maybe I’m too old and it’s more geared towards a 15 year who loves fast and the furious.

Either way bring back ridge racer. ****ing great games. Even the last one (that I’m aware of) on Xbox 360 was fantastic in comparison to these new style arcade racers even though it reviewed poorly.

Think that's i loved underground 1 so much, races were fast.... and furious (sorry) and then into the next. There's too much map checking looking for races and trying to find one that is your level. I usually do 2 races and turn it off because i spend more time looking for races than actually racing.

Summed up the problem with them well. It's a racing game. I want to race! ;-)

Tried Heat the last night and had it off again within 90 minutes. It’s just so bland, and the gameplay isn’t fun at all to me. It just made me want to dig out the PSP and have a go at Midnight Club 3 again.

Access is great though because I might’ve easily wasted €15-20 on Heat in a sale, so being able to try it out is very handy.
