If the prices are going to be similar over here ($29.99/year or $4.99/month going by that article), then I'll definitely be getting it. €30 a year? Shur it'd be madness not to get that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,583 ✭✭✭marcbrophy

It's €25 per year on xbox one and I'm assuming it'll be the same on PS4.
Also, it's been gotten by me for as cheap as €21 during specials at Smyths / Amazon.
    Great value altogether :)

The Xbox version will have the extra back compat games too but I still imagine it will be the same price on ps4

So long as it actually comes to Europe at the same time as North America that is......

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,587 ✭✭✭DeSelby83

They have said its July 24th but have not, as far as I know, mentioned what countries it will be available in

The article only mentions dollar amounts so I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s NA only next month. Sony are fond of still treating their regions differently when it comes to releasing services and pricing. Hopefully the fact that it’s EA’s service will mean we won’t run into a PS Now esque affair.

I've been jealous of the 10 hour early trials for new games. Great value whether you're looking to play older games or getting discounts on new ones.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,411 ✭✭✭✭gimli2112

It would pay for my annual foray into the Battlefield series itself.

Why is it so cheap? Am I missing something?

Not a pile of games I’d be interested but surely Battlefield V plus the odd play of a random sports game is more than worth the price of entry here no?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,382 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

I'd imagine it's cheap because it's all older games (mostly) and you don't actually own any of them, so technically free constant money. Could be wrong though.

This is exactly my plan, I always enjoy the BF games but with life getting in the way I can't justify paying full price for the times I'd get to play it so this is perfect.
Few games of FIFA when the lads are around and maybe even some star wars. Personally for me it's a good deal.

Still not sure if I'm fully sold on it. I've always found playing mp games like Battlefield months after release means it's a nightmare to play online as everyone who has been playing for months just slaughters you.

Might see what the list of single-player games is like though, plus I never play Fifa or Madden online so can get the previous year's versions of those too. Might make it worth it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,382 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

Battlefield I don't find too bad for it, even if the release players have levelled up and gotten the better weapons, it's still managable and once you start levelling up yourself you catch up to them. It's not like CoD where missing out on a few months will put you at a serious disadvantage due to the smaller map sizes and everyone aware of the layout, best routes, glitches, etc. CoD is a lot less forgiving on newbies after a few months.

Still will play it though. I really hope it does release here at the end of July, I've been missing a good online MP game as I didn't hold onto BlOps 4 this year (or WWII last year). But already have MW paid off for this year, thank you Days of Play sales!

Does anyone know if an existing game save of say Fifa 18 (from a disc) will work with the EA Access version of the game?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,382 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

It should just apply once you start playing it again. The save is for the game regardless of media used.

Does anyone think/know if you'll need Playstation plus for this to work?

From the xbox EA access faq, you do no need gold(PS+), but you will need it for online features.

Dunno when it went live but it's on the psn store now. 4 euro a month or 25 for the year. Seems like really good value!

I know it's not a huge list but that's well with 4 a month or 25 a year. Im mad to play fifa 19 and NHL 19 but wouldn't buy them. Plenty of other games there I'd give a go.

So, is it streaming? So you download the game? If your sub lapses, does your save expire? Does it save to your drive like regular saves?

    Is there no trial?

No sign of Rory Mcilroy golf on there

Just subbed for the year, €25 is unreal value for all that you get. Might even try Battlefront 2 now that I have it for nothing, would never have spent a penny on it otherwise. :)

You download the game to your ps4. They are normal digital copies, it's not streaming. If your sub lapses the games just lock but they don't delete. You could wait until a new game gets added and resub again and the games and save files will be waiting on your ps4.

There is no trial of the App.

There is a 10 hour trial for every new game that gets added 4 to 5 days before launch. You should have Madden 20 now, and NHL, FIFA 20 in the next few weeks.

It's a pretty good offer. You'll find yourself playing games you would never have bought.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,969 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Have Fifa, NHL (that beta was a lot of fun) and A Way Out downloading. Worth my 4 euro just for that. Will see then if i want to play the others, will get the year for 25, such good value. Pity i have no interest in madden for the trial thing but would definitely be interested in NBA Live 20 and UFC 4 early trial and discount whenever they get announced.

I can trade in Fifa 19 and UFC 3 to CEX for €34 cash, and sign up to this for a year for a €9 profit keeping the games

    Madness, good madness

NHL 19 is a lot of fun. My knowledge of ice hockey is basically the mighty ducks from my childhood so I ended up making a Happy Gilmore type who can't really skate but has a rocket of a slapshot and buckles people at every opportunity.

Can you still fight in NHL games? I have vague memories of having to play NHL for a "fighting game" at a friends with strict parents when we were young, no such misfortune for me getting GTA SA for my 10th birthday :pac:

Oh yeah, you can even set your fight temperment (rarely, sometimes, often). I haven't been in a fight yet, just had a couple of games but trying my best :)

The last NHL game I played was on the megadrive. Think it's time to try these out again.

On a separate note is anthem worth giving a go now or should I wait in the hope they improve it. I do enjoy the destiny style of game so the idea of anthem does appeal to me.

My nephew was asking me yesterday - if he gets rid of his disc copy of Fifa and signs up to EA Access, will he still be able to use his saves/etc. I assume the answer is yes, but didn't know for sure. Seems a no-brainer to trade in anything that's on the available list while you can if it does work.

Also - does anyone know if EA ever remove access from a game after a period of time? Or do you keep it eternally provided you keep paying EA?

Will the new madden and fifa games be included in this or is that wishful thinking?

They appear a few months after release.

Yeah, you'll find people trying to anticipate when a game is getting put in the vault and flogging it to get some value. I did same myself with Titanfall 2 which went in kinda early iirc.

Well they removed Rory McIlroy due to the PGA licence changing so there is a risk that a game you have on EA access may be removed with or without notice as you don't actually own the games.

Yeah it should do, he should save them to the cloud first as he will likely have to delete the disk game from the PS4 and download the digital one. But then the save files should work.

I think one game might have been removed at some point from xbox or PC Vault over a licencing issue, but as a general rule once they are in they stay in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,085 ✭✭✭Grumpypants

You get a 10 hour (gameplay) Trial for all new games. If you want to buy it aftert that you can get a 10% discount off the retail price (You also get 10% off any in game Fifa Points etc).

Anything you buy with a discount is your to keep forever.

Then after a few months the full game gets put into the Vault. But if you stop your sub you lose access to the Vault games.

I logged in to PS Store last night to pick up Burnout Paradise as it was only a tenner, saw that it was available on EA Access so paid the 25 quid for the year instead. Decent value.

I kept meaning to pick Burnout paradise in a sale, definitely going on my download list.

Any promo for access on ps4 on social media is nothing but negativity like '**** EA', 'only 12 games in the library!' and 'all the games are trash!!'. I get that EA is the devil (but there are far worse companies out there imo like 2k that get away with way more ****) but access is only available a week and it's been better (games & value) than PS Now which is looking for way more money.

I think a lot more people will try this (even for a month) than the ones saying they won't online and I'd love for Sony to get a reality check on what the players want.

I would absolutely love Skate and Fight Night like xbox has but all that is is another lesson on why backwards compatibility was important.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,386 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

I can't see any reason to be negative on ea here. The library will (I assume) grow, and the cost is really quite small. Win for the customer i think...

Just need to finish spiderman and I'll be jumping all over this...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,426 ✭✭✭Roar

Yeah it's two quid a month. The negativity is way overboard, IMO.

Never underestimate the ability of people on the internet to act like a bunch of babies. €30 for 36 full games and still they moan.

Not on here. But seen various PlayStation pages on FB where the keyboard warriors are out in force. There really is no pleasing some people. I haven't jumped on it myself yet as AC Odyssey is taking all my gaming time, but will be as soon as I'm done with that. Great value imo

Need for Speed, NFS Rivals and NFS Payback; are any of those similar to what NFS Underground 2 had?

Presumably Skate, Fight Night, Alice: Madness Returns and the Dead Space trilogy will be available when the PS5 releases? Because if they are those games alone will keep me going for the better part of a year.

I cant imagine it would be on straight away

I do know that any new Fifa which comes out in September is then on access by the following May or June, the new Star Wars will probably follow a similar timeline
