Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Managed to dodge many of the heaviest of the showers today but this evening a very thundery looking cell passed close by with a beautiful shelf cloud rolling in.

Amazing photo! Some snow up in the Wicklow mountains yesterday, was a beautiful crisp wintry day up there (probably the last one for a while).

A really lovely bright and calm spring morning. There was a decent enough frost here overnight.
I am personally glad that cold northerly wind is gone also.
    Central Mayo.

It's been a miserable cold and wet spring around here so far, feel like I'm in a different country reading a lot of the reports on here over the past few weeks. Heavy rain all day yesterday and lots of heavy showers again today

That's a shame Donegal Storm. Been a very good spell in Kerry if somewhat cool at times, Take it over the wet any day. Just 11.6mm so far this month and most falling in the dark hours. Fortunate for having an amazingly good day here in Kerry, frosty clear start getting down to 0.1C and got up to very pleasant 15.9C at my site but that would be a bit higher than nearest official stations, garden getting a bit sheltered now, was outside this evening and 10C around 19.30, cooler again atm and calm at 5.9C.

    NASA EOSDIS today.

Just make sure you enjoy April and May! Embrace the light! Don't waste the next 6 months worrying or waiting for good weather.

Last year was the best March-May weather in my living memory. It was superb.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Yesterday was sheer glorious heaven out here. In love with this lovely place all over again.

For the first time this year it was a joy to sit at the gate, gazing at sky and mountains and ocean in utter peace. And basking in warm sun. Even got the garden chair out.

Blue blue sky; fascinating horizon cloudscapes. A gentle breeze to dry the washing. Perfection.

And oh! Even a bee or two was around; another first. All there is for him is forgetmenots which are abundant but lean pickings. But he was making a valiant effort ( there is a nest nearby) Oh a few dandelions but their usual abundant fuchsia flowers are way behind

Planted out seedlings... Just BLISS and a healing. Sorting bedraggled borders, planting, planning .

One of the great things re being old is that any degree of short term memory loss focusses you on the here and now. Living a day at a time with no fear or worry re next week. So seeing the sun and sky today! Another spring day outside.

The silence and peace are intense.

Spring is huge! Off outside to enjoy it again... Have a lovely day as I fully intend to.. not a minute of it will be wasted. Sheer heaven!

Another lovely morning in Dublin, coffee out the back garden with a bit of sun on the aghaidh.

Isn't it unusual to have frost this late into April?

I need your wise advice Wise Weather Watchers as I'm waiting to do 3 very important things!
    1. Cut an overgrown hedge to get half my garden back.
    2. Sow some grass seed
    3. Put down Mobacter Moss Killer

All three kind of need things to warm up and for the last of the frost to be past us - Does anyone know when the air and ground temps are due to upswing?!

    Thanks :)

Another great day here in Kerry, running around this morning with shirt sleeves rolled up. Long live the High Pressure.

Top temp of 15.9C at my increasingly sheltered site but normally get a bit more out of a SE'ly fohn effect with the breeze releasing a bit more heat at this side of the mountains.

A clear, crisp morning out here. I was outside at eventide last night and the sheer beauty of flat calm ocean reflecting orange shore lights, with the lambent, glowing sky.
And a deep peaceful silence as the day opens quietly in brightness.

Crisp, sunny and frosty morning on Dublin 5 following on from a lovely day yesterday. The highest temperature recorded in my area this month is 13.0c, would be interesting if this isn't exceeded for the remainder of the month, unlikely though.

Finally a nice sunny couple of days in Letterkenny, garden is still a bog but at least the ground is drying out. Trees are still totally bare so hopefully this will kickstart a bit of growth

West Mayo is the loveliest part of Ireland. I knew that over 20 years ago when I was first over here, and I know it now, settled here.. Home.

    A sturdy wind, and chilly.

    Good luck!

I took Degree Finals exams on my 21st! No idea what the weather was. They let me keep my cards on the desk....

    Bitterly cold. Grey and chill.

Looked out and seen clear blue skies and a gentle breeze. Went out and sat outside for about 3 mins before I had to give in and go back inside, it would skin you alive out there. Cant take much more of this cold weather.

Anyone else find it very cold today. The last few days have been in the main bright and relatively sunny without being warm. Today was just downright cold.

Same here, spent most of the day taking out window sashes and refitting them, in a draught all day and couldn't warm myself

Very cold out today. Horrible biting wind. Need things to start warming up soon but next week looks to be more of the same coolness.

The average temp in Ireland for mid-April is 13º or so. 14º for the start of May. It could be a while before things warm up!

The wind would cut you in two here in East Clare.
It was actually ok at 11 this morning, t shirt running weather, it got colder as the day went on..

I see our Coleraine/Limavady friend has finally been banned, hopefully a return to more normal posting ahead, the forum has been a chore to read these past couple of months and not just because of that one user

A cold, overcast day today in Letterkenny, its been cold all spring here so far so no change there, still no foliage on trees and no days where its been pleasant enough to sit out. Looking at the models the week ahead should hopefully get milder as the week goes on finally

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,634 ✭✭✭✭Graces7

    Gray and chill.

All plans have been revised.. I "even" may light the fire/stove! Now that is a record for abstemious me! In mid April....

At least there is no wind...

Very dry in parts of the south this month so far, with Johnstown Castle still only on 2.1mm up to yesterday and 3.7 in Sherkin Island. Belmullet, Markee and Knock are the wettest with each around 22 or 23mm.

Gorgeous in Dublin, the wind is fairly nippy though, has stayed blue skies and sunny for longer than was forecast so far.
