Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

TURBO you really need to go to specsavers or a shrink as you can't see what i originally wrote.i never said i took the van for mid test and you are the only one that hasn't actually answered correctly.
the rsa never issued a short test AS I HAVEN'T TESTED THE CAMPER YET.
i think you need to do what you put in the last sentence "read more and complain less"

Would Turbohymac, or anybody, please explain why this is necessary and what it has got to do with the road safety or lack of it of the tested vehicle.

DOE today, and it passed with flying colours.

Tester is still scratching his head at my 000 HCppm reading......again, two tests

in the last 3 years, and with 3k+ miles up on last tests. I said his machine is fekked.

he said its the most up to date available, and calibrated. I said it makes me the

best T25 mechanic then that money can buy :D:D:P

Did you fit a dummy exhaust 😠or maybe it was too high to be read 😜

    Was it running on lpg?

All stock 1.9 petrol dg engine on Pierburg 2E3 carb.

Its definitely too high to be read on startup, like them all:)

After 2 minutes, clean as a whistle, but surely it has to show something

    on readout.

Tester said he has never seen a 000 reading. Myself, I think there is something

amiss with the equipment, but I am not one to complain:P

Anyone heard of a camper being refused on the Ferry (Irish Ferries - Dublin - Cherbourg) for an out of date CVRT?

Can I remove the bulkhead from my van and still pass DOE?

I don't use it as a work van, wouldn't ever be tools in it,

No. There’s no place for them to look for it. Check in counts the number of passengers, registration number and passports. That’s all. Can’t see why they would have any interest in anything else. But I think it would be very unwise to travel without one.

Thanks Itineoman, we had a cert but no window disc. All went well.

So I was driving home from the CVRT test centre in my camper ( which failed on a brake pad issue ) and the Alcove window above the drivers side started rattling violently on the dual carriageway. As I was slowing down to pull into the hard shoulder the window cracked off completely, luckily there were no cars behind me.

Insurance with Aviva covered the claim for a new window but had to get a specialist to measure the dimensions before ordering the correct window. The specialist also spotted a big crack in the oppposite window over the passenger side of the van which I had not seen before. I clean the van regularly and it was a very recent crack that appeared.

I have two questions regarding the CVRT for Campervans:

Do the CVRT testers check the inside of the campervans, like a habitation service to see if things like the windows are fully fucntional or is there anyway something could have happened in the test centre that would have compromised the integrity of both the Alcove windows?

Up until that CVRT test, both windows were in good shape and would have been used regular enough. And they definitely did not have any cracks in either of them, the handles & extension arms were also in good nick.

If anyone can shed some light on this I would be interested to hear, cheers!

I've always harboured a concern about the shaking of motorhomes which is part of the CVRT to check balljoints etc. in particular if going through the heavy test lane designed to rattle HGV's of up to 40 tonnes.

With metal bodied vehicles I'm sure it's perfectly OK, but with the screwed and glued timber bodies of motorhomes I do wonder.

They'd get a lot more rattling than that on the roads.

Does anyone know a "friendly" CVRT test centre in the Dublin area? I failed in Bray last time out and my mechanic said something to effect of yeah they're really tough there, you should try another centre. Not really sure where to go though

I’m guessing the van is recently serviced so I’d put a bottle of redex or similiar in tank, and drive it for a week. This will clean up the engine. Make sure it’s driven for at least half an hour before the test so the engine and exhaust are good and hot for it.

No ‘friendly’ centre will be able to cheat the emissions machine
