    5. - Bow Wow Wow: I love the Beasties but not a fan of "Fight for your right"
    6. - Cyndi Lauper
    7. - Billy Idol
    8. - Fleetwood Mac
    9. - Heart: not a fan of either song TBH
    10. - Flock of Seagulls: in contrast these are both good tunes
    11. - Edie Brickell: great guitar solo
    12. - TMBG: loved this album at the time

Match 12: Wang Chung - I'll admit I didn't know either of these but had a listen and don't feel I've been missing out but I hated the Birdhouse one. Not a fan of these college rock American accent bands

I'm so late tot he party today I've no idea which of these are through already and what's not, so here we go:

Match 4: Sussudio - Phil Collins is a powerhouse. Not my favourite of his, but still great.
Match 5: Fight For You Right - because you gotta fight for your right, to parrrrtaaayyyy!
Match 6: Keep Me Hanging On - love both songs, but this one just slightly more.
Match 8: Everywhere - can't beat a bit of Fleetwood Mac.
Match 9: Alone - great ballad. Love Heart. Considered nominating this one myself.
Match 10: Temptation - I nominated this, love it.
Match 11: Hungry Like The Wolf - absolute classic.
Match 12: Birdhouse In Your Soul - I love this song.

I'm going to vote Heart alone, one of my picks, loved the highly commercial period of Heart. Tiffany is very iconic 80s and a great song also, unfortunate to clash this early.

    vs
The Cure - Close To Me

    Q/Match 14

    Soft Cell - Tainted Love
    vs

    Q/Match 15

    Madness - House of Fun
    vs

    Q/Match 16

Bryan Adam - Summer of 69
    vs
David Bowie - Ashes to Ashes

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,503 ✭✭✭✭Also Starring LeVar Burton

Match 13: Close To Me - both solid songs, but more The Cure just edges this one.
Match 14: Tainted Love - easy choice here, just a better song.
Match 15: House Of Fun - Shame these are up against each other because I think both deserve to progress.
Match 16: Summer of '69 - tune! It's definitely a sin to vote against Bowie, but Summer of '69 is one of those childhood songs that I can't help but vote for here.

The Cure, they got bumped from my list in favour of something else so they defo get my vote here
    Kolido wrote:
Soft Cell - Tainted Love vs Frankie goes to Hollywood - Two Tribes

    Tainted love
    Kolido wrote:
Madness - House of Fun vs George Michael - Faith

Faith also almost made my list so defo gets a vote

I'm torn here cos Samantha Mumba ruined ashes to ashes for me, but I think it's more deserving than summer of 69

    ]Q/Match 5

Beastie Boys - Fight for your Right

As I am now a fully grown adult, I would just like to apologise to the VW car owners of the 80s and their missing VW signs.

    Q/Match 6

    Cyndi Lauper - True Colours

    Beautiful song.

    Q/Match 7

    Billy Idol - White Wedding

It’s a nice day to start again

    Q/Match 8

    Fleetwood Mac - Everywhere

Hungry eyes is a good tune but it’s up against a better group.

#13 - Close to Me (the Cure had so many great hits in the 80's and this is up there with their best, love the brass in this song)
#14 - Tainted Love (prefer the Marilyn Manson version but as we're in the '80's this will do nicely)
#15 - Faith (Madness actively annoy me, aside from It Must Be Love)
#16 - Ashes to Ashes (Not the best Bowie but still the better song here)

    Some toughies there

13: The Cure - Great tune, Starship is decent but it's just 80s mullet rock by a 60s band
14: Soft Cell - Very borderline on this, was originally going to go for Frankie. Will move on before I overthing and change mind again
    15: Madness Great fun song.
16: David Bowie No contest for mehere, one of his best
