I used to have a little pony who had the nose tore off himself with thorns every Autumn from helping himself to blackberries in the hedges of his fields.

Fair point! I'll just have to pick them for her instead!

My two, white and brown is a female collie/boxer/bulldog mix (we think), 3 and a half, named ginny. Black and white is a male collie/shepherd mix (we think) 11 months old named fozzie.
    Absolutely adore them.

A couple of new rescues for keeps.
Lola had cat flu in her eyes and they were mostly stuck shut with discharge when found. It occurs when asleep. It took three days with meds until she could open her eyes upon awaking.

A good Samaritan had Bella spayed but had left her back out only a few hours after the op. Not the cleverest action imo. She was very congested in the chest but is almost clear of this now with meds.
Bella was spayed at about 3.5 months. Some vets will spay at as little as 7 weeks. This is done with a view to help curb the massive overpopulation problem. Though spaying or neutering at less than 6 months closes the growing plates which impacts growth and causes possible joint problems.

Bella is on the left and Lola is on the right.

One of our adopted guinea pigs, Hermoine... she’s a longhair Abyssian/Peruvian mix and that’s a house for rabbits, she’s a bit overweight. The wee fence is because she tries to launch herself off when the fridge opens or hears a packet rustle. She also likes to sit there glaring at me, possibly plotting my death... we’re not sure because she wheeks when I walk by until I scratch her head:)

Em cat! I ADORE Guinea pigs. For little rodents, they're the absolute bomb for non-bitey and robustness. Love em. And the noises! :D
Her hair looks a bit high maintenance for me though. :pac:

We’ve her sister, Bea too and both have the long hair. They get a brush each day and a bum/rump trim when needed. Bea absolutely loves to be groomed as in she stretches and leans into the brushing if you know what I mean. Bea also licks me when she’s in my lap.

I love them too but also love most pet rodents just can’t bear rabbits, they kind of freak me out. One of the rescues I foster for always gives me a buzz when they need rodent fostering. Mr C is like the worst ratter ever now, I’ve completely ruined him... I clicker train the rodents too...most are really good at it.

How much looking after do they need?

Do they need somebody there all day?

Are you asking about guinea pigs? Ours are super sociable with us and obvs each other. You need at least 2 as they don’t do well on their own, they are prey animals so need a lot of hiding spots but can be super chatty and difficult to tame if not handled/socialised from a very young age.

They must have hay at all times as their teeth constantly grow and it aids in their digestion also it can be difficult to find a really good exotics vet.

Ours are far better than the dogs at being alone during they day, but are very active when I’m home during they day. They do a lot of popcorn jumps and one likes to potter around my foot.
