destroying a passport means nothing. its a piece of paper. Stripping her of citizenship would be very difficult as that would leave her stateless. And you're right, it should not be prosecuted. So if she does return she should be investigated by the police and let the law takes its course.

She can burn passports and renounce until the cows come home.. If revocation of citizenship is not done officially through whatever gov't department is responsible then it means nothing.
Symbolically what she's done is completely different of course, and British consulates aren't going to go out of their way to help her though, as much for the domestic optics as national security.
She is a very dangerous woman. I'd not want her coming back to Europe let alone into the country, but she is a UK citizen, and only a UK citizen from what I read, and I don't see how there's anything the UK authorities can do about it.

As she was born in the uk (i'm pretty sure she was anyway) her child is automatically a british citizen.

There are two girls with very similar names from Bethnal Green who ran off to IS around the same time .
Sharmeena Begum and Shamima Begum. I think the latter is the one involved here, as she was one of the three who left together, and I haven't seen any comment on where she was born. The former was born in London.

Whatever your views on her coming back to England it's sad to see the various posters who have just said to either shoot her or kill her. In the article it says she is 9 months pregnant. If you are down with shooting a person who is 9 months pregnant you are no better than the Isis scum that you claim to hate.

Oh i've noticed. This after hours used to be funny. Now it's descended into another version of The Journal's comments section. But it's just a symptom of online use nowadays. Most normal people just don't bother posting on message boards as it's just not worth the hassle and the vitriol is something to behold. There's a lot of really angry people out there.

It is irrelevant if she no longer has her british passport. She is still a british citizen.
