Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I remembered one, not someone I met but my brother's best friend. He was about 8, and there was some prize giving or other. Ray D'arcy was presiding. My little bros friend was shaping or messing and when he went up on stage, Ray whispered in his ear "You're such a little ****ing ****". Nice!

ROG is a shy person though. Not his fault if he isn't the most people-friendly player ever

Ive met ROG 3 times, all in situations that could have pissed anyone off, but he was sound each time, even saying hi to half a bus-load of hyper kids!!

John O'Shea (footballer not charity guy), now theres a prick, totally blanked a few of us who just said hi and marched over to his Range Rover

Again with the unsureness about validity of "celeb" but Amanda Brunker has just proved herself to be a bit of a douche.

Post and evidence here for anyone who cares....

Generally some big GAA footballers I've met are very rude but to call them celebrities? I met Jimmy Carr before and found him very polite and friendly.

John O'Shea is a complete gent, met him once and he was sooooo nice

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,243 ✭✭✭discobeaker

gotta say Jimmy Carr was lovely. Chatted with him for awhile and he was so polite. But some total arseholes are the English band The Rakes. They are one of these rubbish indie bands but they are totally up there own holes. Thankfully their records dont sell :D

    Exactly.

She's an excuse for an actress who spends each winter performing in terrible, unentertaining pantomimes. She was also on 'The Restaurant' tv show a year or two back. Haven't a clue what she did before that but any Irish reality show has her in it someway or another.

The Noisettes before they were well-known. Very very rude.
    Nice guys finish last!

Of the plenty of well known people I've met, Brian O'Driscal is the rudest so far, followed very closely by the Kings of Leon.

And no, I wasn't 'out to meet them' or all over them, we just ended up in the same place at the same time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 867 ✭✭✭giddybootz

Brian O'Driscoll was by far the rudest person I have met. (he was drinking where I worked but was by no means drunk)

The Brian guy who used to be in Westlife is a rude, egotistical ass.

Kian from Westlife = most arrogant/obnoxious

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,364 ✭✭✭washiskin

Steve Naive, Keyboard player of Elvis Costello & The Attractions.

Total douche, sister in law is a big fan and tried to say hello. Basically told her to f*** off.

The Drummer on the other hand was a total gent as was EC himself.

I've met Bono a few times, and he was an absolute gentleman each time.

Des Bishop was very cool the couple of times that I met him.

Jeremy Piven, who gets alot of grief was very cool as well, when I met him.

Chris Farley was such a cool guy when I met him. He died a few weeks later.

Paul Simon is a little prick.

John Cusack has been an asshole everytime that I have had to deal with him.

Wow how did you met Cusack and Piven. I was always a big fan of Cusacks. I really hopoed he wasnt a tosser. But what can you do

I'm a native Chicagoan. Both of them are from the north suburbs of Chicago.

Jeremy Piven was in town for the Bulls vs Lakers and I got a chance to talk to him for about 20 minutes. He is also a Chicago Blackhawks fan.

Cusack, who I have always been a fan of, has been a dick each time that I have met him. I remember him runninng around in his trench coat and bandana 20 years ago up in Wrigleyville or showing up at the United Center trying as hard as he could to show that he didn't want to be noticed. He would show up inChicago to cheer against our local hockey side.

Great actor, but he came off very poorly to me everytime I run into him.

Kian Egan wasn't particularly nice even before he was in Westlife. I always thought Mark Feehily was a lovely guy.

Me too! I'd love to have a chat with Art Garfunkel!

Without a doubt, Pierce Brosnan. I used to run his fan club in his Remmington Steele days. When he got the Bond 'Gig' he became a total ashole.
Have always found 'Twink' to be very nice ?

Don't Ive ever met someone famous who was a pr1ck!

Jerry Flannery, Mike Prendergast, Keith earls, Rob Kearney were all sound out! and that was on nights out too.

I met Kerry King from Slayer before and he was sound out!
One of the soundest famous people I met was probably Corey Taylor from Slipknot/Stone Sour fame. was just laughing and joking about! great laugh!

    Brendan Grace is sound too.:D

Indeed he is, Once I was in Chapter 1,I was sitting in his favourite table, he had me moved but paid for my meal....This happened again in Guilbauds, L'ecrivain, Burger King, Eddie Rockets, McDonalds and most other restaurants in Dublin....amazing gentleman.

    I'm so jealous.

Erm the rudest one ive met was probably Matt Tuck from Bullet for my Valentine. He was way too big for his boots, with the groupies by his side and stuff. Sickening.

Nicest would probably be Corey Beaulieu from Trivium. Sound guy, came out after a show and just lit up a cigarette and had a drink with the fans who waited long enough afterwards.

I met Paul Mc Grath in Dublin Zoo, just after the world cup. He was with his children. He was so nice, he chatted to my son who was his biggest fan.

He stood for a photo with us, the shutter did not open properly , so all we have is a picture of his feet!:(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,433 ✭✭✭MrMojoRisin

Derek Mooney. I waited on his table when I worked in a restaurant in Cobh a few years ago. He was really up his own arse. By strange contrast Mary McAleese - who does a far more important job than that sod above - came in once and she was a really lovely, unpretentious, down-to-earth person.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,752 ✭✭✭markesmith

    Brooke Shields...ass.
The drummer from Ash - we squared up to each other at Feile '94.

Gary Oldman is a gentleman, as is Tommy Burns (ex-Celtic manager).

Met Ray D'arcy years ago, seemed like a really nice fellow.

Marti Pellow was the frontman of Wet Wet Wet. Funny, I've heard he's a sound bloke.

Even yer man Boy George (who seems to have met everyone, even including Andy Warhol, ffs), said that Brooke Shields was a snooty cow. A bit false like.

Gary Oldman has always seemed dead sound. I nearly fell off my chair with shock a while back when some girl told me that the woman who plays 'Big Mo' (Laila Morse) in Eastenders is GARY'S SISTER.

Never heard a bad word said about Ray D'Arcy's personality. Ever.

And like her drop dead cool bro, Laila Morse is said to be a very nice lady. Polar opposite to her Eastenders character, from what Ive seen

Derek Mooney is some idiot on winning streak or whatever it's called, he mocks the contestants no end. The way he jumps in front of old women to make it look like they just pinched his arse. There was an older woman in my local town a few years ago called The Iorn Horse she had a habit of grabbing men by the balls, now wouldn't it be interesting if she was on winning streak and when Mooney would pull his silly stunt on her she would quickly grab him by the balls and bring water to his eyes and give him a real excuse to jump.

I met Eddie Hobbs a few years ago, he didn't have much to say for himself unlike the guff he goes on with on tv.
