Averaging 11 in test cricket as an opening batsman is not going to be sustainable

    He's less than 10, no?

    Pakistan: 1 and 32
    Afghanistan: 9 and 0
    England: 14 and 2
    Total from 6 innings: 58 (9.667)

I'd say it was coming into this game, think the average was 11.6? Got it off Cricinfo anyways

Didn’t really, move his feet, nothing too special about the delivery but finds the edge.

Ireland will struggle to make 100 at this rate.

    What was Sterling doing!
It's good bowling conditions, lights are on, and in the background you can see the sky is beginning to clear; yet you play that shot.

Complete meltdown. Can’t understand the lack of patience.

Sad times. Will a final inning collapse tarnish the overall performance?

50 minutes before lunch. Any more losses before and I fear it's over.

I think it's going to come down to Stirling and Balbirnie really, one of them needs to get a good score and then KOB will be important later to get us over the line

    Crap

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 12,629 Mod ✭✭✭✭riffmongous

KOB a few inches short of being caught there too

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,143 ✭✭✭munsterlegend

    Crap

    Any plan b?

    A good mass?

England's first innings score mightn't have been the lowest score this test, we're all over the place and just aren't dealing with the bowlers at all.

200 is a challenging 4th innings target, but there'll never be a better chance as this team ages.

Even if they don't reach it, hopefully it won't turn into something like 13/3. There have a been lot of inside edges onto the stumps.

Aside from the two big partnerships, wickets have fallen very quickly. It's hugely important to take your time to get in. Ireland lost 8 wickets for 80 odd after Stirling got out and England lost 7 wickets for 77 after Roy got out.

19/3 close enough. Whats tonights Euromillions numbers please

England are unplayable in these conditions.

There's a reason why the bookmakers have England favourites for Ashes, could you imagine Anderson out there today too? Ireland wouldn't even get 50.

They beat India, the number one side in the world, 4-1. No matter how mediocre England appear to be or what turmoil they're in, they're a superb side at home.

Englands bowling attack isn't their problem; they've actually kept them in games for a while now. Eng don't have decent openers (we'll see how Roy does) and their middle order has been called on too often. Eng have a a good bowling attack (even with Anderson, Stokes, Wood, Archer all out) and conditions are in their favor.

Just dig in for god sake lads. Get a 25 run partnership.

This is the definition of "Test" cricket. We've been after it for so long so now is the time to prove that we deserved it.
