Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Do you think exchanging one meal a day for blended juiced veg or fruit would be beneficial. I think it is probably a lazy option but I would like to be a bit more health conscious not for purposes of losing weight. I would say your comment about commitment would apply to me. I have no idea about diet and nutrition didn't realise it is such an emotive subject.

It wouldn't be beneficial if you are getting in exactly the same stuff as if you were eating it but it certainly wouldn't be detrimental to your diet either. It would simply be a replacement for the same un-juiced meal. Incorporating juices into your diet is no problem at all, just don't go on these ridiculous week long programs of only drinking juice.

I do this; I have a smoothie for breakfast every morning. It's usually 100g banana, 50g avocado, 30g spinach, 30g blueberries, 30g chocolate protein powder and water. Keeps me full till lunch and honestly there's no way I'd be getting so much good stuff into me in the morning if it wasn't blended.

It helps that I freeze everything in portions so it ends up tasting like a cold chocolate milkshake :)

........ sorry about this but I have to correct you on a couple of things here having actually done the Juice Only Plans myself as opposed to just ....... well ..... guessing :(

One of the benefits to juicing is getting way more fruit/vegetable nutrients than you would ever consume just by eating.

Also ........ you will feel the benefits much more profoundly if you do a Juice Only Plan for minimum of 5-7 days.

Were you away juicing for a bit there!

Did it ever cross your mind that you might be over consuming fruit / sugar and under consuming fat and protein?

Vegetables/Fruits contain fat and protein

Not too worried about naturally occurring sugar ........ it's the refined processed sugar that I avoid

Way more fruit and vegetable nutrients while missing out on countless other essential nutrients. It makes no sense whatsoever to recommend a juice only diet. Juices can form a great part of your diet but shouldn't be the only thing you are consuming.

Also I don't appreciate the tone of condescension in your post. It's just plain rude and ignorant to act like such a know-it all, you probably aren't nearly as clever or witty as you think you are.

    Which nutrients are missing exactly?

If you don't know what nutrients are missing when consuming a diet based soley on fruits and vegetables you probably shouldn't be giving nutritional advice. Also you won't be able to get a significant enough amount of fat or protein from fruit and vegetables in order to constitute a healthy diet.

Minuscule amounts- if you believe you are getting all the fat and protein you need from juice you really have been brainwashed.

You should be. Eating / juicing loads of fruit is not as beneficial as some believe it to be.

I never said there were any essential nutrients missing from a Juice Only Plan ........ you said that.

Why wouldn't you be able to get enough fat or protein from Juicing fruit and vegetables?

Minuscule amounts? Really?? Have you ever actually looked at the list of ingredients that goes into a Juice Only Plan and what those ingredients/amounts actually contain nutritionally?? No? Well I have .........

Here's a little fact for you ......... a human can live on and survive healthily on avocados alone, it contains all the essential nutrition that humans need to live.

Yes fruit and veg! Unless your blending and juicing meat you are not eating enough fat and protein!

I'm starting a 3 day then building up to a 7 day and then a 30 day avocado plan !

    Really?
Avocados have even made it into the Guinness book of world records as the most nutritious fruits in the world.
They contain everything the human body requires nutritionally and you could live exclusively on them.
They contain vitamins, minerals, protein, carbohydrates, water and EFA’s – essential fatty acids.
These EFA’s are imperative to your diet and they actually help to maintain a healthy weight as these good fats help to regulate your appetite.

Avocados contain very little iron and you would have to eat 16+ a day to get your iron needs. They contain very little calcium and you would have to consume 20+ a day to satisfy your calcium needs. You would have to eat at least 20 to get your protein needs as an extremely inactive person and closer to 40 if you are active in any way at all. If you were to eat 20 avocados a day you would be consuming about 6000 calories a day. So em, yeah, you are wrong.

I suppose the Guinness Book Of World Records is wrong, sure what would they know ......... anyway that's where juicing comes in ........

    Iron? Spinach!
    Calcium? Broccoli!
Calories? This is exactly why you should never be on a calorie controlled diet as natural fats found in avocado are all good fats that the body requires, unlike the fats found in a mars bar that the body never needs!

    Are you really an adult.

You wouldn't know this as you don't know what nutrients you are missing out on in your panacea juice plans.

We all do to a certain extent. The brain is approximately 60% fat.

ok a bit OT, but I think parents have a huge influence on what kids eat. As a family we ate healthy enough, but my wife wanted to loose a few pounds so our dinners, lunches changed.

Then a year back we got a juicer. We were going to buy a masticating juicer but found it would take to long in mornings. My wife and I started then after a couple of days the kids wanted one as well and it has since carried on. I couldnt believe it one monring when we didnt have enough stuff to do a juice, that the kids were like " Hey where is my juice"

Kids look healthy and for once no one has had a cold or nose/chest infections in ages. Long may it continue.

Yeah, it can be a bit more expensive to eat healthy, but it can cost a good bit on doctors and antibiotics..

I have found that giving Juice to my kids has taken a lot of pressure off myself and my wife regarding their general health & well-being ............ what I mean is I don't panic now if they don't eat their broccoli at dinner time because I know their "dessert" (as they call it!!) is full of all the nutrients they need for that day ........... it looks to them like a big red milkshake but it is in fact 5/6 freshly Juiced vegetables blended with an avocado (for the creamy effect), a banana (for the thickening effect) and a few strawberries (for the yummy looking effect!) ........... they love it.
Same thing when I look in their schoolbags after school and I see they haven't eaten their apples .......... no worries because right next to their uneaten apple is an empty flask which contained a nutrient rich fruit/vegetable Juice!! :)

Did you go with the Masticating Juicer? How do you find it??
