Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

co-axial master chronometer with a zirconia dial or bezel?

I wouldn't exactly believe any of the claims on the watch. Especially when the description says 'Waterproof: Not suit (sic) for swin or shower'

Would rather save the 25 euro TBH

Doesn't look too bad, feels ok on the wrist and is actually keeping decent enough time. The print definition on the face is poor and the top left winder which does nothing is fixed in place but then it is only €25 delivered :P

Ah someone just did the HEV Omega mod for you at the factory already ;) (some people superglue Omega's HEV top left crown because as you rightly state - it does nothing for almost everyone bar super specialised divers in diving bells who wouldn't be using an automatic watch as their work gear in the first place I daresay).

As for why they superglue it - if you open the valve your rated water resistance drops to 50/100m instead of 300m. No reason whatsoever to have a valve there or to open it. At least on the Tudor Pelagos it's built into the side of the case (despite also not being needed).

And for 25 euro you have a watch you can practise movement/hands/case/dial disassembly on without feeling too bad if something goes wrong :D

For €25 I have a decent looking and good feeling, mechanical movement accurate time keeping "homage" watch ;)

It's a bit of fun and something I'll wear on occasions when the "good" watch isn't going to be risked and I want something a bit dressier than the knockabout watch

Yup nothing wrong with a €25 watch as long as you know what to expect (some of the cheaper movements might not auto-wind very efficiently so you might need to give it a manual wind in the mornings to ensure it runs) - nothing wrong with that either - just pretend it's a Speedy Pro hybrid :D

And if it has a working auto-winding mechanism - score!

Exactly. And if you like it.

Monaco for 1250 asking. Probably take a good bit less. Good deal, provided it's genuine.

I always think the Monaco is a bit like leather trousers.
You need to have a bit of flair and confidence to get away with wearing them!
I would love to own one but not sure I could carry it off.

TAG Heuer diver, looks well, asking just €400. I'm sure it can be had for a lot less. Just the 36mm mid size model though, so that's me out

Forget leather trousers you need open backed leather chaps to pull that Monaco off

Especially with a MOP face with gems on the indices. I do miss mine, I have to say though (even if it was a more... traditional colour scheme).

Big fan of the Turtle. I've had 3. And probably will own one again. And the save the ocean dial is really nice. Wouldn't call it a bargain at EUR300 though. Good deal at EUR250. Total bargain at EUR200.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 747 ✭✭✭HDMI

That's the Great White STO edition, cool shark tail above the waves at 8 on the dial also much better bezel insert. 275 offer would be fair within the EU. Around $300 new this side of the water.

    USD300 new is EUR270

    Agreed EUR275 is a fair offer. EUR300 is not a bargain. EUR250 is a bargain. EUR200 is a steal :D

The days of the bargain seiko automatic are gone, SKX gone mad, new models around 500 euro RRP. Still you can get in and out without losing much money, so this lack of value has a benefit. After seeing a few on the forum lately I am reinvigorated about seiko and you can get savage deal on chrono24 using the suggest a price

For sure, posted this more-so as a nicer affordable watch I'm not buying. I've bought two Seikos recently on adverts @80-85%; of asking price, €240-255 would be a decent deal. Still enough mustard to get in and out with little to no loss when the time comes.

If a great white samurai were to show up I'm not sure I could have the same restraint.

SKX have gone mad alright. And I was looking at a few 7002 on eBay and they were the same. Not convinced the bargains are gone though, there are always bargains somewhere :D

Picked up an as new Turtle Pepsi PADI a few months ago on an aftermarket rubber with its unworn bracelet in a bag for just EUR195 right here on adverts

That's robbery! I thought my €190 SRP775 was a good steal. I reckon lockdown has a lot to do with it; lower price point Seikos with potential for tinkering on mods etc to keep people busy. Will be interesting to see if the market settles back when everyone is back to work.

Lads is there a proper way of buying off adverts? Or is it an auction free for all?
Take the great white. Someone has offfered 210 for pm
Is that it then or would it be frowned upon to offer more?

Go for it! It's not been accepted, even for PM purposes.

Absolutely not, you can offer more. Adverts has a set of principles inherited from the old Boards.ie buy & sell forums. One of the big no-no's was off thread dealing, people would get infractions/suspensions for PMing offers.

The rules are not being enforced now on Adverts and it's standard practice to offer a low ball figure to enable private negotiations.

Generally you check the sellers feedback. If is all looks good make an offer that about where you feel the lowest reasonable price is and wait for a counter. If you want to offer a LOT less than asking best take it to PM as if could be seen as ad spoiling. Dont comment on the asking price or link to the same item cheaper elsewhere. If you get a bad vibe, or the seller is rude then leave it.

If they are selling fake watches all bets are off.

I am thinking of hoovering up all the seiko divers I see, prices are only going one way. I dont know why but defo a upwards trajectory, maybe it just cause the shops are not open.

Seiko Prospex Solar Radio Sync watch £199 AMJ
    https://amjwatches.co.uk/seiko-prospex-ssg013p1.html

I thought this was kinda interesting because you don't see a lot of Seiko radio-sync watches at this price. Supports 5 time signals incl the UK one*. It seems to have a slightly domed (mineral) crystal with AR coating.

I don't know what their shipping costs are.

    attachment.php?attachmentid=515652&stc=1&d=1591615115

    * The website claims it supports the UK signal, the caliber manual says it does not
