Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

If that team starts, O'Donnell could be considered lucky to retain his place above Kelly.

Unrecognizable from the team that won the all Ireland and got to last year's. I don't think any other county has seen such an influx of new blood and positional changes.
Last year we had no depth, this year we should have plenty by the looks of things.

    Is Comer out much longer?

Comer is probably aiming for around the Connacht final.

Hasn’t really been missed. Too much focus on him when he plays. Love to see him play in the half back line

I agree that for all the talk about him he doesn't bring enough scoring threat. It rarely breaks 2pts a game. Given the reputation you'd be expecting 4 to 5. Most of the other forwards often outscore him.
Next year should suit him down to the ground if they bring in the advanced Mark. I definitely think he needs to contribute more though.

Still our only forward who gave real trouble to Dublin last year. On limited ball. Would like him to get his head up a bit more at times but he's still a huge weapon if used right.

There were periods in both the league final and All Ireland semi final when the Dublin full-back line couldn't handle him at all but then the amount of ball coming in dried up completely.

Also, every team that plays Galway with Comer in it has a specific plan for how to deal with him (e.g. by double marking him or a sweeper in front etc.) which often means other players benefit more from Comer being on the team

That’s the problem...every ball is played into him ,makes the other forwards redundant and easy to defend for opponents

For those of us that can't make the matches today the Tyrone match is on TG4's youtube player streaming live.

The hurling is live on TG4 at 3.30.

Best of luck to both sides.

This ref is annoying me already.

Two kickable frees he's given them were laughable and we get our first after 9 mins despite some obvious ones.

If this were any slower the grass would be growing quicker. Only one injecting any pace is Walsh and he's dropping his customary shots short.

    Doing ok now...

This is nothing short of a fantastic performance in the first half. Walsh is one of the best players in Ireland at present and Cummins continues to amaze with how he overcomes his lack of height in the air. Keep it up

  • Registered Users Posts: 52 ✭✭LoveMeSexy

When we get going we're hard to stop. Johnny Heaney and Danny outstanding once again but Shane is just a different class, his pace is incredible. Hopefully we keep this going for the second half, promising stuff.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,238 ✭✭✭✭Diabhal Beag

Big second half needed but not one poster can say they haven't been much more attacking in the League this year.

Heaney is everywhere and Shaney a different level to everybody else.

    Definitely goals in Tyrone imo.

Anytime we go at them with pace it's like the opening of the red sea. When we start pissin about on the 45 it's getting turned over. Walsh leading the way with Heaney covering serious ground. Hate seeing Daly going back to the full back line. He's not suited to that any more than comer is.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,869 ✭✭✭Happyilylost

Breeze is very strong. Need to dig in first ten minutes of second half and not let them get a run on us. Hopefully we can break fast enough to keep the score board ticking.

  • Registered Users Posts: 693 ✭✭✭grbear

Brilliant first half. 1-11 is serious scoring against a team as good as Tyrone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,268 ✭✭✭threeball

Is Duggan gone off injured or just replaced.

Agree. Breeze was used well. Let's deal with it now

Fool of a ref blew for a Mark then gave a peno

He had fallen prior to the tackle. Never a penalty

Joke of a penalty but if you had a kick out strategy like Dublin you were gaining possession after that point and having chance to kill momentum and build an attack... and its on those aspects KW falls short.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,146 ✭✭✭testtech05

I didn't see the first half but a few questionable calls by the ref in the 2nd half even before that penalty which I thought was a joke.
A mark for sure but never a peno

That's what happens when you arse about it with it outside the 45 with static backs passing it to each other over and over.... comical.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,490 ✭✭✭PCeeeee

That's it. That should be the death knell for the going backwards ****e

Totally symptomatic of the way we play under Walsh. Look grand with a breeze at our back and once it's against us we go full blanket and slow motion going forward.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,490 ✭✭✭PCeeeee

Eoghan gets away with plenty but he was spotted there. Cheap 10 mins

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,016 ✭✭✭Hulk Hands

Sean Andy's had that coming a while. Always been lax with his fist passing. The wake up call he needs hopefully

Tyrone had every player inside their 45 for about 5 minutes.

It was very difficult to do anything positive, we just had to make sure not to do anything stupid...

It's the idea that bothers me. No pass to be found in front?

They had them back because we gave them time to get back, strolling out of defence. Coughing up a 7pt lead like that is criminal. Labelled looks like he'll get caught every time he leaves his goal too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 693 ✭✭✭grbear

Following one of their best halfs of football in a long time with possibly the worst under Walsh is an absolute dose.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,268 ✭✭✭threeball

Ref is dire. Foot trip and a free in results in a free out and a red card

The lack of urgency when 3 points down was pathetic. Incredibly disappoting. Even besides the joke goals we were well beat

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,490 ✭✭✭PCeeeee

Such a pity. A league final would have been brilliant. A chance to bring in Corofin lads too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 693 ✭✭✭grbear

Truly terrible second half, the worst half under Walsh. It's worse than the Tipperary bottle job because Galway were in control at half time and had a great chance to make a serious statement. I'm disgusted after that, absolutely disgusted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,268 ✭✭✭threeball

15 point turn around. This team have been conditioned to play with little to no urgency and as a result don't press an advantage when in front and can't claw it back when behind.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 479 ✭✭rgace

Pity alright, but the league went well overall considering the players missing.

The timing of the first two goals and then the black card probably made that second half look worse than it was.

Don't criticise them too much. Sure KW has done a great job and brought the team on from losing heavily to Mayo.

It's not his fault anyway, its because we're missing players.

    Well said!

The reason Glennon wont make the team is due to the last two balls he won.

He had space and just his defender to beat for a goal chance and he just hasn't the belief in his pace to go for it and just looks to shoot or lay it off.

Might be worth looking at in midfield which is where he starred in the minor AI. I don't think Coen has ever shown more with the ball to suggest he's far superior.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,268 ✭✭✭threeball

Mannion a revelation in midfield. Totally wasted at wing or corner forward.
