Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

There was an SCI cab for sale on ebay a few days ago for £150 buy it now. Same seller had a mint looking crazy taxi naomi cab for £400 as well. Was very tempted.

On the topic of game PCBs, in the mid 00's I called to a few operators in Dublin city centre and bought up a few boards for €10-20 a pop.
I was just out of school at the time and hadn't much cash to buy up more and missed out on a lot.
A few years later I ended up giving away the boards I had with a cab I sold anyway.

If you can't do anything with the Rainbow islands and are interested in passing it on(obviously not for free:D) shoot us a PM, been looking for one of them and an NZ story for years now

Leave it with me and I'll see what the story is :)

    150 quid, very nice!

And same story with me, was a broke student back then, the stuff that went under my nose, bah :p

I was only thinking recently it's great to see so much arcade posting going on, a lot of it down to yourself in terms of reinvigorating discussion here. I highly doubt anyone here thinks you're showing off, honestly. Be a shame for you to stop now :)

No way, keep it up! Sure that's why we all come to this forum :)

It's especially interesting given you're finding all of this in Ireland. Most of my gear has come from abroad.

Too many to reply to, but I get the message :) That's cool, its neat to see irish stuff being fired up again. And the way I see it, they are kinda irish, seeing as the games bled us all dry for so long :P

I had a better look at that hero tonma board. Wasn't very confident considering the filth of the board, wasn't sure what I'd find.

But you cant underestimate simplicity! I cleaned the board with some cotton bud-tips (you have to be REALLY careful doing this, as you don't wont to take the dirt off along with a trace!) Reseated some chips, reseated some ribbon cables. I then found a black blob of gooey stuff around the legs of a chip, probably coca cola from someone sweating to get the "continue" coin in :P

So, without knowing exactly what the problem was, I fired her up again, and...

If you think it might help, you could set up a dedicated thread to your PCB collection, ever increasing, or make it a more general "Get Yer PCBs Out!" kinda thread for all to display their Jamma and other arcade boards.
I know we have an arcade thread already, but both beejee and BGollie post plenty of Jamma goodness as well, just an idea.

Edit: or that thread that was already there...

Yeah it probably makes more sense to post stuff in the other threads for me, gonna work on an image fight later, see if I get lucky.

So, after a swift exchange with Kerbdog, I now own a PC-FX....
    Yay... I think....
Four CDrs later and I own everything the console has to offer a man who can't read Japanese and prefers to play his games while dressed and with both hands.

The plan is to put Steve X2 out of business. :pac:

Just kidding, this 150 machine wouldn't hold a candle to all his printers but so far its printing great!

Just more fiddly than anything to put together.

I think I may have overestimated the smell and toxicity of these things though...

Suprisingly the PLA and PETG I'm using so far is pretty odorless.

A 'Boble Boble' (Bobble Bobble I take it) Bubble Bobble bootleg which has been converted to 'Bubble Bobble: Lost Cave'

    477867.png

Might need to work on the JAMMA harness that came with it, maybe just make a ridged one.
Plan - to see about having it being able to run both the original Bubble Bobble (updated ROM set dealing with the protection) and Lost Cave with a flick of a switch.

Just got this in the post today, really looking forward to trying it out.

I've my Snes and Megadrive both sitting on top of monitors, so this'll help alleviate that annoying cable running across monitor screen problem :D

For anyone interested, yes they do come with the receiver, so its an all in one kind of thing.

    How is the d-pad?

After a quick 30 second molestation (!) it feels similar to the official one. Bit tighter but I guess that's just down to my original pad being fairly well worn at this stage.

Not sure if you've used other 8bitdo pads but it seems to be up to the same high quality level. Will report back once I've given it a go with my Megadrive.

Initial impressions are really good anyway, so much so I think I'll pick up a second.

Been burned before on pads having a 'Saturn like d-pad'. That madcatz street fighter 4 pad from years ago was utter ****e and near unuseable yet the media proclaimed it as good as a Saturn pad.

It's a wireless receiver with a DB9 connection, so would work with anything that would accept a Megadrive pad. Be interesting to try it out on an Amiga.

I don't think it's Bluetooth like some of the other ones though?

Couple of new NES games. Haven't played it yet but Return of the Joker is meant to be one of the more graphically impressive NES games for an 8 bit.

Yeah return of the joker is great and stunning looking. The megadrive port looks atrocious in comparison.

Rollergames is a hidden gem of a game as well.

New addition. Technically not retro related but will definitely be used for some retro projects.

Just getting to grips with calibrating it properly at the moment.

Couple of the new Retrobit Sega Saturn controllers.

Not had a chance to use them in-game yet, but initial impressions are a little underwhelming. D-pad a little loose, probably no more than one of my well used original ones, but does seem a little odd. More annoyed with the scuff marks on one of the pads front plastic which is a little disappointing (almost like they've been in use for a few weeks). Slate Grey one looks fine in this regard so guess the black one is going back for a replacement.
Cheap enough I suppose, so you expect some level of compromise, but compared to 8bitdo's recent M30, it feels a level below in quality.

They look the part though to be fair to them (extra long cable a nice touch), and they'll probably be fine in-game with the D-pad, but will wait and see.

    Couple of recent gets :)

Memotech MTX500 - very rare and expensive these days, got it for a good price as the power supply was missing so need to fanangle something together for it

    32755928427_3b28af1d19_z.jpg

Another batch of jammacon boards to be built, changed pcb supplier and decided to try out the black silkscreen. Think it looks pretty good with the gold plating :)
