Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Beautiful thick flakes were falling and sticking in Ballina Mayo. 10 minutes out the road in a west sligo I have nothing but a green Garden. So disappointed. May go back to ballina to look at the white gold.

Looking at the radar, heaviest area of precipitation seems to be in Westmeath & Meath currently.

Is there another band of precipitation due to come in from the west later on? Anyone?

HIRLAM has another front making its way across the country in the early hours tomorrow. May make it across the country judging by that forecast.

No snow atm. Temp currently 1.5c

Compared to the 6Z run the 12Z is a downgrade I'm afraid.

Looking at the radar, heaviest area of precipitation seems to be in Westmeath & Meath currently.

This seems to be moving north-eastwards fairly quickly and will miss much of southern and eastern Meath and most of Dublin too. Very similar to yesterday where the band split in two with the middle section dying out completely.

About 3 degrees in cork city. Heavy rain showers all day, maybe a bit of sleet in it but not much. Doesn't feel too cold either even though it's 3 degrees.

Travelled from Westport to Castlebar. 70 mins.

Models showing shower activity lessening into the night and becoming more confined to coastal counties and more so towards the coast it would seem. Big frost settling in away from Western coasts as skies clear.

ECM showing very cold 850 hPa temps around Limerick / Clare and showing wintry showers into the night, will be interesting to see if some snow accumulates there overnight into the morning.

Also showing very cold mid level temps tomorrow in Munster , sleet and snow showers and more so inland where the clouds get a bit of lift, high ground getting some accumulations perhaps around the general area of Abbeyfeale , Templeglentine, Brosna showing up having some potential of snow showers.

Nail on the head Kermit. Tipping down nicely in Westport.

His 'power of positive thinking' approach certainly seems to pay off.

Still it managed one heavy half hour snow shower this morning on Cavan. Don't think we have much hope for the night. Hopefully it's the start of more opportunities inside the next 6 week or.so

All the damp squib merchants and eat my hat people nowhere to be seen.

No doubt out reluctantly building snowmen.

    Good call Kermit.

Just outside Newport, Mayo. Taken about an hour ago, still snowing now but lightened off a bit.
Castlebar to Newport road was fairly well covered around 6pm, fun drive home at 20mph behind a huge line of cars.

Absolutely ridiculous, you might as well lock the thread. No point of it at all. It was a stupid idea to begin with.
It hasn't snowed in Dublin. Close the whole thing down. :) As I said no point.

I'm so jealous. For the above I hope you know i'm being sarcastic. just in case.

  • Registered Users Posts: 187 ✭✭Lenny5

Big thick flakes for last 30 minutes in Mayo falling straight down without a breath of wind and resting softly on the grass. I love the silence of it. Very calming. Hope that those without snow get a taste of it during this short timeframe.
