First the Baby-Sitters Club and now Home Alone? This is the best year ever.

A home alone remake? why? Other than being a handy way to make money theres absolutely no need to remake what is a classic christmas movie. Money talks though I suppose.

They've made a mess of Star wars, the lion king is a cringefest, can't they leave anything alone.

Am not fond of remakes either !
The Studios want to play safe, and I do wish they picked good recent novels and make a movie out of them instead. It does not happen near often enough.

This is being remade to air straight on the Disney streaming platform so to make it worse the remake will be very low budget.

    and if it's not a remake, it's a sequel !

"Chris Columbus is reportedly all set to direct Netflix's The Christmas Chronicles 2
The Christmas Chronicles 2 does not have an official Netflix release date set, but it will more than likely premiere in time for Christmas 2020. Production is reportedly set to start in September, though Netflix has yet to confirm this"

Me too, looks so seasonal. In the meantime I can't seem to find a date for the Christmas movie channels to start up, shouldn't be too long now:D

Hallmark made reference to OCt 25th being the start of their christmas countdown here https://www.bustle.com/p/hallmark-channels-2019-christmas-movie-lineup-will-be-its-biggest-one-yet-so-prepare-for-major-merriment-17013521

Though some of the others may start sooner. See here reference to Sony changing on Sept 10th https://www.tvchannellists.com/Forthcoming_changes_to_digital_platforms_(UK_%26_Ireland)

Why do all Christmas films set in/around London have snow in at least one scene? The reality of snow in London is chaos when public transport shuts down, flights are grounded, councils run out of grit etc

Snow is usually Christmassy, magical and beautiful... on TV.

In real life, it's generally cold, chaotic, dirty and slushy!

The first 15 minutes out in snow is fun and festive and everything after that is a cold slushfest.

Will never forget the snow falling on 17th December 2010 - looking out the window of my living room, magical :D It was like a movie, like Christmas with the Kranks :pac:

Not for me it wasnt, my wife was expecting twins in 3 weeks & we'd been told she could do into labour any minute, I was freaking out about not being able to get into Holles Street due to snow.

That’s why it needs to be magical on TV. Ain’t nobody got time for watching misery at Christmas.

A colleague in the US was really surprised when I told her about the disruption caused by snow in March last year (it was supposed to be my sister's hen party weekend but all our flights were cancelled due to the snow)

She pointed out that movies often show snow in London at Christmas so she assumed we get it every year, and I realised she was right - Bridget Jones' Diary, The Holiday, Hook, Notting Hill - I can accept Harry Potter at least because that's set in Scotland.

From what I remember, it always snowed at Christmas on Eastenders too!

Edit: Although if you're talking about realism in Christmas movies, surely meeting someone Christmas week and being madly in love with each other by the 25th has to be up there. :pac:

I love the snow only when it falls on a Friday or a Saturday evening, it is still soft when I am walking home and I know I have the fridge full of food and don't have to go anywhere the next day !

Snow in London at Christmas in movies ... we have to thank Dickens for it !
