Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is there ever a case where the US packaging/design is nicer than EU?

Half the time the labeling is like someone opened the design in Word and accidentally select font size 72.

Subbed to more craft stuff than game stuff, not specific retro just general game stuff.

    Name that game...

translated from Japanese in Chrome. I changed 1 word which would trigger a memory (not madness junkie head, thats what gave me a giggle).
    Enemy character

    Madness Junkie Head

Appeared after Level 4. The upper body is naked. I will set a jump attack. Although it appears only on the bad stage of the foothold, it does not become a mistake even if you touch it, but there is a risk of falling into the hole when it is played.

You reckon? hmmm, IMO they're both pretty dreadful but the EU one is marginally better.

Has anyone ever seen this 90s sega footage? So much cool **** in one video!!

I always wanted to try Forsaken, on PC anyway.

I'm playing a Descent style game called Overload at the moment and it's pretty slick.

I had Descent and the sequel on the PlayStation back in the day, and playing both to completion with the original digital pad, which was tricky.

Stick to Descent 1 and 2. Forsaken is ok but got a lot more attention than it deserved for being one of the first slew of games to support 3D accelerators

The worst offender was the use of awful CGI renders on the covers for the PS1 era games.

The final fantasy games are probably the worst offender.

I'm still annoyed that Square has now ditched the whole box art being simply the game's logo on a white background.

Tried to give it a go, you have to be logged in.

Went to create an account, ran into password issues three times, each time having to do a 'I am not a robot' verification with clicking on tiles on an image.

    **** that. :pac:

Did the same a few months ago.

I did play PUBG since though. Even though I'm ****e at it is a pretty good game. Different to what I usually play. I usually play pretty fast paced with any FPS online, but that doesn't really work for PUBG

Yeah the main reason I wanted to give it a go is that my laptop won't run PUBG and I really want to play a massive PVP type game as I haven't really since DayZ.

Anything else knocking about in a similar vein?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 51,847 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Plenty of copy cats but nothing as good as pubg. Can't stand Fortnite either. Only popular due to timing and the price. The shooting is just awful.

I feel like PC gaming has become very hype/trend orientated. Minecraft is apparently back again, for now. Whatever big Twitch streamers are playing seems to be what people gravitate to.

In a perfect world, it would be Wreckfest that would be the game of the moment.

I'd love to start wrecking a new generation of tweens thinking they are the ****e on a pc

Also, has anyone got a spare 3 grand to give to me?

I found h1z1 to be much better than Fortnite, but probably pales in comparison to pubg. It's great for free game though.

Does anyone have any experience with the older Bang and Olufsen A/V gear?
I dont have the B&O TV, but do have a VHS and DVD hooked up to my framemeister, mainly for capturing retro japanese VHS/DVD stuff.

It works, but the remotes i have do nothing(beo4 and beolink 1000 remotes) so i have to use the front controls on the devices. Is there some system link box i need to get them all talking?

Ya they've closed a couple and also an online emulator as well. They must be gearing up to flog their legacy collection of roms again.

I'd say it's the case all right, with some added sour grapes about people bringing their own form of VC to the Switch. While it's their right to protect their IP's, it's really just a fools errand. Those roms are going nowhere, and so many people have gone on to download the entire goodsets of Ninty roms in light of this news.

They've gone nuclear though. No longer sending out C&D letters but full on suing the sites for $150,000 for each copyrighted material up to a maximum of $2 million and looking for ownership of the domain as well.

Both sites Torrent Freak said Nintendo went after have gone, plenty of options still available at the moment, so download while you can.(if anyone here doesn't already have complete sets of just about everything)

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

I was thrilled to see Sega were bringing Thunderforce IV to the Switch.
Not so thrilled to see what a cash grab it is when they didn't bring the Sega Megadrive Collection, the one that's on all the other formats, to the Switch.

Well they were actually legally allowed do that as they are the IP owner but yeah, funny how companies, even Nintendo had so poor source control even today.

Indeed, very ironic though that they chose to produce an 'off the net' rom that had a copier header on it, instead of the reference rom they likely have vaulted away. Prob just laziness, but still. I'll be interested to see what has prompted this, in terms of what they plan on bringing to the table re Switch & retro games. The subscription model has been touted...

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 51,847 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Nintendo are the best out there for looking after their source code but smb was a very early game. I'd say their source control wasn't the sane back then abs they have no reference rom.

And although this video of EmuVR is 3 years old, you can clearly see the CRT Emulation and support for arcade games:

It will be free, uses Retroarch so there should be support for CRT shaders, and you will be able to create your own rooms, sorta picking up from where New Retro Arcade Neon left off. Should have a lot more development support behind it also.

So it looks like it's one step closer in fulfilling Inviere's dream of recreating the Dublin Arcade of his youth.

Quick question, is sun fade likely if something isn't directly in front of the window? I have some Sega boxes behind my TV and wondering if they'd fade and if there's anything that can be done to prevent it.

I think the only things I've ever had fade were left sitting on a windowsill.

Also has anyone ever bought those clear plastic cases for games? See them on Nintendo cartridges mainly but there's a Netherlands based website selling them fairly cheap for Sega consoles, even have a Shenmue one and one for some boxed consoles. Can't remember the site off hand but if I recall they're one of the cheaper ones as some sites sell them for mad money.
