Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Turkey. Currently €4.84 for the 4 screen plan and will probably keep going lower and lower.

For anyone having problems with revolut taking payment and a new card. Just contact chat on Netflix they will give you the ability to add new card worked fine. Netflix restored.

Did this raise any queries or issues over your location etc?

There was a question. I signed up for Netflix while on holiday in Turkey! :)

This, isn't it just plausible that many of us have holiday apartments in Turkey and spend approximately 50% of the year there?

Revolut out of date. Tried chat this morning. Kept telling me to try different card

Ask them to reset your payment details account. They have the ability via chat to open up a payment screen for you to input payment details. I did that and then saw charge come through on revolut right away.

A VPN will do the same thing BUT they now want to send a pin to a local number so a sim would be required too

    Hi,

Have this up and running for Netflix. Signed up with Irish account with BOI debit card, then after one month cancelled and used VPN for Turkey.

Has anyone had any success doing similar with Spotify?

    Thanks!

They just told me I'd have to use another card or buy gift cards and top up the account. Might sign up via Ireland for a month!

You need to specifically ask them to "reset your payment details and send you the form to enter them again via live chat".
They were giving me the voucher spiel until i did that. Once I entered the details into the form the add to the live chat it worked straight away

Not sure where to post this but I signed up for Netflix for myself and didn't share my details with anyone all of a sudden some Arabic dude has gained access to my account...

How on earth was it so easy for him to hack my account never had this issue with prime video or anything before and I basically only bought Netflix recently..

Is there anything I can do about this? Has he got access now.to my bank cards?..

It’s more likely he used a weak password that has been compromised (and posted in pastebins) by another service provider being hacked and this dude trying his luck.

Always use a password manager and read www.haveibeenpwned.com for more information

Even though my card expired a couple of weeks ago this month's appears to have gone out of my account.

It's still pending though as per AIB banking so we'll see

edit: So I checked Netflix and it appears that my new card was accepted after all.

I had the cancel my bank card and now Netflix won't accept any card via turkey or Ireland. Customer care were useless. Going to give it a break for a few months.

I got onto them again this morning on chat. I said I was onto bank and its working fine and its not my end. A window popped up to enter bank details while on chat and hey presto, new card was added "Revolut".

Can anyone recommend which country & which vpn would be worth trying at the moment, and preferably without the need for a local mobile number (although I can order a sim if necessary)? I wouldn't use the vpn for anything else so don't want to spend too much on it if poss.

I've paid 1 month of my Irish Netflix with my revolut (via curve) & intend to cancel before this month's payment comes out then restart same account via another country. Is this the right way to do it? Thanks

There’s an faq in the first post with all the info

To be fair, the FAQ is pretty rubbish at this point.

    Steps I followed ages ago:
    1. Sign up for Netflix in Ireland.
    2. Add your preferred card (Revolut or Curve if possible for better exchange rates)
    3. Add your telephone number
    4. Cancel subscription and leave it expire
    5. Once expired, use a VPN or change your exit hosts in Tor browser to login from Turkey (which is still, I think, the cheapest)
    6. Try to sign up. Enter your pre-existing login details and it should offer you the 3 tiers priced in Turkish Lira (or whichever local currency applies).
    7. Pick the tier you want and subscribe.
    8. The payment should process no issues, and you can then disconnect from your VPN - you won't need it again.
    9. The price paid monthly will obviously vary each month due to the fluctuations in exchange rates, but should be much cheaper.

    Hope this helps!

So you only need a vpn to set up a turkish netflix subscription/payment, can anyone recommend a good vpn that offers a free trial?

  • Registered Users Posts: 46 carazeb

Thanks Dulpit & Omega that's very helpful.

Also just wondering, when using my revolut through curve, do I need to have the correct currency in the revolut, or will it be ok just to leave euro in the account which I presume would then be converted at the relevant exchange rate each month?

If you have a balance of a particular currency, then revolut will use that. If not, it will just take from your main account (Euro, if you're in Ireland) and convert at the point of sale.

If there is ever a dip in the exchange rates you can save a small amount by buying a bunch of Lira...

I didn't use a VPN, I used exitNodes on Tor. Not sure if it still works, but you can try: https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=110498236&postcount=1963

It may or may not. Plenty have changed without an issue. I wasn't so lucky though. Had to cancel my bank card recently, after I tried updating Netflix and it wouldn't accept any of about 6 cards from me and other family members with or without vpn. Support were no help so I had to sign up for a brand new account. Even then my card wasn't accepted but my wife's one was.

They now require that you have a local phone number. They send a code to this number & you need to to continue with the new country. At least this was the case for me for Mexico.

Revolut. Bought a mexican sim on Amazon and I was able to verify with a mexican number. Not as easy as before but still possible

Would you remember which sim card you got by any chance, and did you need to get a pre-paid one? I've a few days before my Netflix expires so I was thinking I might order a sim in case a mobile number will be required. Many of the Mexican sims I looked at on amazon didn't look like they would work outside of mexico.

    Why Mexico?
    Is Turkey not working anymore?

Frash got in before me. When my Mexican money runs out I'll be looking at Turkey unless currency rates change. I'm not sure how difficult it is to source a Turkish SIM card from Ireland though
