Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is the Leaving Cert requirement a must? Will they entertain an application without it? Have worked in a different area of the emergency services for 10 years so have relevant experience.

The experience they consider relevant is two years with an Emergency Medical Technician qualification. It's that or the Leaving Cert (or equivalent from another country)

It's all there on the job spec/application form, you'll need to read that.
    A leaving cert
    OR
A level 5 QQI/FETAC in either, nursing studies, food science, laboratory techniques, community health studies, or healthcare support. You must have obtained at least 4 distinctions.
    OR
    A relevant qualification above level 5. i.e a degree.
    OR
2 years full time experience as an EMT. Voluntary and part time work does not count.

Can anyone shed any light on the overtime/**** allowances? I know the annual wage is starting at €27,900 but what can you expect to earn on top of this from overtime and allowances? I have a family and mortgage and would be more than willing to take on this role and take a hit in my salary. However I see it called out in documents that “this is before allowances” but I can’t see the actual amounts anywhere. Just need to be sure here as at the end of the day as much as I’d love the job I still need to be able to pay bills!

Fortnightly pay in college is around 860 for 12 weeks. Then you get an additional 460 (or so) tax free while out on placements 8 week block then a 12 week block.

All in all its around 5-6k tax free added on. While ok placements you'd also get weekend allowances.

Ironically your first year in the job is probably your most profitable.

Once working as an intern after a year your fortnightly pay is roughly 1100 or so before overtime / subs etc.

11/1200 would probably be your average. So around 31k a year. With overtime can get that higher depending how much you do can get up to 1800/2k a fortnight. More realistic to be looking at 17/1800 though.

I’m assuming the higher end is before tax?

No they're all rough net figures. Your gross is a lot higher.

    Hiya Guys,
Im wondering if anyone on here could offer me some solid advice regarding the inter-relations and verbal reasoning test.
I got through to test stage in sept 2019 campaign but didn't make it through past test stage
Since the offer has opened again I am applying on this Jan 2020 campaign. Last campaign I bought the online course from career services , while I found this brilliant and would have had no clue without it, I would be grateful if anyone could offer me some more support than this for this coming round ( due to take place march 2020)
I am confident in my application it is strong and am also confident in my interview abilities, unfortunately this test wouldn't be my strong point and is clearly where i am falling down in the process , I would love to be able to be more prepared and to know I stand a chance this time .
Any courses, online help or just some advice would be really appreciated
    Thanks a mil

I’ve also applied for this round. Haven’t done many aptitude tests before and to be honest I’m not a fan of them! I believe this test will be a verbal reasoning one with analytical reasoning included. Was this the same format as before?

As far as I know, none left on the last panel from may 2019.

I'm still waiting from May '19. 74 on the panel, didn't get in on last expression of interest.

Hi, just wondering if you can tell me how the expression of interest works and how long In advance did you receive it, I'm on the panel after you that went live the 20th Dec, thanks just unsure of the whole process from now on..

Hiya, so you’ll get an email for either the Ballinasloe or Tallaght college with a start date. You then reply to it and say that you are interested. If you are not interested because you want the other college or a later start date you just don’t reply. I got an email at the end of September for a start date in mid January so I’m guessing it’s usually about the 4 month mark. That time in September I got an email for both Ballinasloe and Tallaght so I’d say they’ll be running the classes the same time. I heard from a reliable source the next class in Ballinasloe is July. Hope this helped.

Anyone any idea on how many people are left from all existing panels and are waiting to start training? Its difficult trying to find any information on this. I was successful in the student paramedic campaign advertised October 2019 which went live December 20th 2019. Any information from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

I’m also looking for some information regarding this! Desperate for a start date as I’m currently working in England looking to move back home!

Best off emailing HBS directly and just asking how many are left on the national panel.
It's a pain waiting but I have found that just forgetting about it has made the time fly by. We are on the list, the text will come eventually.

I emailed them about a month ago to see where I was on the panel and they told me they can’t give out that information.

Hi guys, just wondering anyone who applied this time for student paramedic, did you receive documentation that was handed the day of aptitude back? I’m assuming there was a delay with returning it due to covid but just want to double check

I got mine back the day I went for interview. Due to the the current recruitment campaign being on hold, they might be hanging on to them until the interviews get the go ahead? Complete speculation, obviously.

That makes sense, it was just at end on email to say had passed aptitude they said they would be sent out by registered post, patiently awaiting interview date 😀

My panel went live 20th December 2019, no EOI out yet. I was placed 23rd, hopefully will get a call this year but I heard that the initial panel isn't exhausted yet.

And with everything going on can only assume a delay on all sides including current panels... hopefully you will get going this year, your a good number on panel. Out of curiosity when did you apply?

Good stuff, I used to record myself giving interview answers and keep practicing going through your examples. If you give me your email address, I can send you on what I had read up on and reviewed.

    Hi all,

Just wondering if there is anybody with any knowledge/information on the search and rescue units of the coast gaurd winchman/paramedic. I'm on the panel that went live 20 December 2019, I'm hoping if successful on becoming a paramedic to go down this route if possible, hard to find information about it online. Any information would be greatly appreciated from any qualified paramedics on here, or anyone at all.

Tomorrow is the deadline for submitting an expression of interest for the classes, so the offers won't be sent out until after that. At least the ball is rolling again. :)

When did you get a response on it, I'm waiting on ballinasloe, fingers crossed, were you on the original panel or the first supplementary panel. Do you mind telling me your panel placement?

I didn't get a response. A friend, who was on the original panel and put in for both, got offered a place for both Ballinasloe and Tallaght on Thursday evening. As far as I'm aware you don't get a ''not this time'' response when it comes to the expressions of interest.

I'm on the supplementary panel, I'd rather not say my number but I'm not in as good a spot as yourself.

I know, it really is. Well at least it's another 48 people off the panel, assuming they fill both classes.
Hopefully, if NAS continue like they have before, it will be Sept/Oct when the next expression goes out and Jan when the class starts.

Should be 21 left on the old panel, that if they picked 150. I haven’t heard of anyone higher than that!
