Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

While im a fan of the Paranormal forum, id rather see the post stay here as its only talking about local folklore/ghosts etc in the Waterford Area

I heard recently their was some sightings/weird things happening down near the bridge hotel.

Of course theirs the "ghost" of Garter Lane, also a few other places out by the kilmeaden road and near annestown/benvoy.

Now we all heard ghost stories when we were young, but is their any truth to them ?

I remember looking at old black and white photos of tramore one time and saw their was a place called the Haunted Well, its at the end of the secnic walkway in tramore, the well is bricked up now but the water still flows out of it down to the a peir (dont know the name of it).

Obviously the bibe is the tale of the local Banshee.

There used to be an old broken down large house up Grace Dieu road that was used to go to. Not sure if it's still there. We'd call it the Haunted House. Not because it was, but it fit the description for youthful minds.

I was staying in that big house on the Tramore road that Tawdy always drinks outside for a school thing and I saw two ladies in white dresses on the ground floor but all the staff were adamant that no one works during the night.

They could have been messing with me and I could have imagined it, but you wanted spooky tales and it spooked me.

Its was a run down slum a few years back (a few mates were living there) everyone of them had storys about the place. Some were strange others were run like fu*k strange. One lad (Lived in the attic room) left everything he owned and would not go back for love or money. My mate had to pack his stuff up for him.

well the area is difficult to descibe but its the house you pass just as ur coming onto a long straight (going to annestown) where u can finally see the sea, (i know my directions arent the best) but local lore has it that someone hung themselves in the place, and that the place is haunted.

Also on another note, theirs a warehouse out by the car dealerships between ntl and AOhell where a certain illegal radio station used to broadcast a few years back was haunted. This one i can defo say with some substance, firstly because my father used to work there and second i spoke to people who worked there and all claimed the same spooky goings on.

Taxi driver was telling me one night he dropped 3 girls somewhere just outside Cheekpoint. He pulled into a drive to swing around and the girls jumped straight back in. Whatever they saw freaked the bejaysus outta them! Gracedieu, we're always hearing noises. Nan and Dad say banshee, cynical mother says a fox!

I don't believe in that things but what about that haunted church in Waterford? I've been recently told kind of legend on a man and his dog happening in a church in the other side of the river Suir... ???? Does it ring a bell?

Yeah that house is freaky alright, always gives me the heebee jeebees when I pass it, I wouldn't walk past it that for sure, I'll stay in the car and zoom past!!

My cousin once told me that there was an old graveyard up the road from the Holy Cross Pub and that one night some guy was walking down and he saw eyes looking out at him - FREAKY!!!....once its dark and I have to walk to the pub I make a run for it on that part - don't know how true it is, but I'll always be weary about that part of the road!!!.....:eek::eek:

OH my god SHIVERS DOWN MY SPINE....too freaky for me, I know they say its not the dead you should be scared of but the living...but hey...that just not for me!!.....oh I'm trying to shake that off....

A little off topic, being it's not waterford but I went to see Batman last night in WATERFORD cinema, but I heard that it is meant to be cursed, first heath's death, then Cillian Murphy got in for trouble for abusing a memeber of his family, and then Morgan Freemans accident....Strange or what.....:confused::confused:

It can't be that scary, what has stopped the others? Were they magically lifted out of the house or something. Maybe a group of us boardsies should get together and stay there, We can't all be moved.

I'd be up for it. When we went around the back there was a light on inside so we headed off

Due to possible legal problems for Boards, we cant be organising anything illegal. So if thats private property, im afraid the organising of visiting the property is not permitted here. :)

    Thanks folks.

i used to live in waterford and was living in scotch quay, house had a giddy eery spooking when we moved in first, especially at weekends when everyone else went home. sometimes the hall lamp would be on in the morning and bedroom doors would be open.

i started talking to what ever might be there and the mood of the place changed. there was still a mischevious feeling but it was more childish if that makes sense.
dont know should i disclose the number in scotch quay.
id be intersested to hear of the other hauntings down by the quays in waterford.

Nah, jus treated it as any old house. No point gettin scared unless ya have a reason to :p i reckon the light was left on incase someone was gonna break in or something and theyd think theres someone inside

what about the sightings of inventor bill hayes who was seen in the garage now owned by mechanic pj o'shea in dominics place, so the story goes , pj was working in the bonnet of a car and bill walked past him and into the office of the garage and when pj followed, there was nobody in there, bill used to own the garage many moons ago, if you ask pj or his son they will show you a framed newspaper full page story that the sunday world ran on it, i think it was sometime in the early 90's, there were other sightings of him in the garage also but i cant remember the specifics !!

actually one place in the city that truly has the creepy look (but i dont know about haunted but it sure looks it!) is the grave yard beside St Ottrans mental hospital, right near my parents house. If you pass by it at night the long path down the graveyeard on a moonlight is the stuff of classic horror movies!.

If u take a visit there make sure u take a camera some great shots you will get, you will have to ask for permission at the gate, but a worthy trip.

Could you tell me exactly where this house is? Is it on the main N25 at Carroll’s Cross or of a side road? I have heard about it many times, I would love to see it.

    I don’t suppose anybody has any pictures…

    Thanks.
