Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm just after setting it up and getting it too. Did you get a solution to it?

Geo-restrictions they say. My apologies for being clueless but everyone who has it working... are you using a VPN?

I did, as above - talk to online chat. Tell them you are in the UK

Can you install sky go on this? Would it work on this?

I got talking to them last night and before I could say anything they said it wasn't available in Ireland due to geo-restrictions. I assume they know I'm in Ireland because everything gets sent here?

Do I just outright claim to be based in the UK no matter what?

Sideloading the standalone version of the Prime Video app works. I've done it and it works fine with Prime Video Ireland.

So you still need to use a VPN even if your location it set to the UK?. Probably a stupid question but I don't know much about these things!

You'll need a VPN if you plan on doing anything questionable with these.

So got talking to an agent last night and he said my marketplace was set to .com instead of .co.uk which is where the issue was.

You certainly don't want anyone knowing you'll be doing anything like this.

Just on this. Can you get US Netflix working on your fire stick? No matter what i do for it it's picking up I'm using a VPN. Works perfect on all other android and pcs. Just not the fire stick.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,952 ✭✭✭Monokne

    Getflix is useless for that.

Express VPN works for me on my firestick.

I don't have the 4k version of the stick, but it has entirely replaced my downloading and HTPC habbits.

Don't want to like, get an infraction or anything. But worth googling what you can do with these

FireStick has been my hub for entertainment for about 2 years now. While I've toyed with changing for an Nvidia Shield, at 1080p I just don't see any reason to change

YouTube is free, you need to use the browser to get there right now, but standalone app is coming back thankfully. The rest are subscription services...

The browser is pretty good in fairness, it plays YouTube flawlessly and only takes 3-4 seconds to start up.

Do you think this will reduce to £35 again anytime soon? On lookout for one but not in major rush for it. Looking to pick another one up for sister aswell.

Stb emu, all 4, YouTube, titanium tv, Netflix.
Bought one of these to replace a 1st Gen stick in the bedroom, already noticing a big difference.

Switch your location to the UK. You might need to contact Amazon and claim you're in the UK via Northern Ireland.

Just log into your Amazon account and away you go

Not with the Firestick which doesn't work with Prime Video Ireland. You need to either get Amazon to switch your account to the UK (which they may or may not do) or sideload the Android version of the Prime Video app.

Thanks, got onto Amazon & they sorted it out within a few minutes.

Regular firestick works in Ireland but not the 4k version you have to get Amazon to change your settings to uk

Maybe this is true now with the latest firmware but it certainly wasn’t in the past. I have had every version of the fire stick and none of them worked with Prime Video ireland.

I got the regular version recently in the sale, did not bother with 4k. Prime does not work.

2 minute call will sort it. You can do it yourself through AMAZON preferences IIRC

Maybe thread should be moved to Android Devices for future searches etc. , some useful information in the postings here for future purchasers.

2 mins on chat and they updated my region. All the content is working now. The 4K stick is such a step up from the old first gen. Great little device now.
