If you have a policy already, it's not a problem.
Changed my insurance from a 95 Trooper to a 00 one with FBD last year.
Didn't even ask to see the CVRT cert.

Different story. Lots of insurances won't take new business, when the car is over 15 years old.

Once it's over 25 years old, you can get a classic policy. That's a different kettle of fish.

The trick to your problem is to insure something newer, then change the policy over. They have to insure you then on a 15+ year old car, as it you're an existing customer. But they'll load the policy, for sure.

Peak German - & Swedish- engineering imho, that era. Before accountancy overtook engineering.

Was looking at a similar C class 180 yesterday and it was fab - and destined to rot on the drive.

    Too dear to tax, uninsurable.

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

The Mk 1 C class (W202) was actually a really nice car in many ways.

But it was actually the start of the accountants taking over.

Even when new the talk from Merc was trying to make the cars cheaper to build.

On the W202 this I understand this shows up in things like being more prone to rust.

For similar cost cutting reasons - later W124s have issues that say a 1988 W124 wouldn't have.

Took the Honda out for a spin through the park and down through Castleknock and Chapelizod. I'll lose my license with this if I'm not careful :D Met a mk1 96 Lexus GS300 in chapelizod and exchanged an appreciative nod with the driver for his stellar choice of motor. No pic sadly

    Tell me about it.
My 93 CE is in the middle of a 6 month wiring loom nightmare...
And not caused by cost-cutting as much as Mercedes trying to be "ecological".

Haha, I’ve been waiting for that - sooner or later I’d be spotted! Noticed a few people taking pictures too over the last while but have yet to see any of them appear online..unless I’m looking in the wrong places.

Only for I was driving the other way you’d be snapped.

You don’t see many Citroen CXs anymore but a sighting is always welcome.

I was on my bike so couldn’t get a better angle.
