He might have been able to if taa covered back

I need to see it again but I think TAA and Gomez go to Laca and VVD and Robertson were close to the penalty spot.

Will feel sick next week hoping Man Utd can do something V Man City lol as long as Liverpool can beat Fulham of course

It'll be strange wanting Manc U to win, but i get a kick out of it as well because they're nothing these days, they're not rivals to us apart from historic so their wins mean nothing. So yeah, hope they smash City next week. :pac::pac:

    11/11/18 Liverpool 12 : 00 Fulham
    24/11/18 Watford 15 : 00 Liverpool
    02/12/18 Liverpool 16 : 15 Everton
    05/12/18 Burnley 19 : 45 Liverpool
    08/12/18 Bournemouth 12 : 30 Liverpool

Should be happy with 16 points from this lot ;) (I'll take 12)

It'll be 9 away games in 16 by the end of this run, I only mention it as away games are that bit harder to win regardless of who the opposition are. It won't be until late Feb before there is a 10 games run of even H&A fixtures and that'll change due to TV scheduling probably!

We have beaten 1 and drawn with the other 3 teams in the top 5 and are still unbeaten with 8 wins and 3 draws in the league.

Is there anyone who wouldn't have taken that after 11 games at the start of the season considering our midfield is sh1t and the front 3 are totally off form.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

I'd agree with whoever said having Fun Bobby drop deep is affecting the front 3.

With Ox and Keita the players you would expect to be that driving force from midfield out it really is hurting the attack.

To be honest that role would also suit Henderson as he was at his best for Liverpool when he was a driving force from midfield and he looks a player when he plays that role.

So injury to the 3 main attacking midfielders it is hurting the attacking side of our game.

Keita's little knocks are a real nuisance his drive would be nice. It feels like it'll take a season for the midfield we want to actually be knitted together.

16 points from 5 games, yep i’d take that :D

Firmino is in a bad run of form, he will come good again no doubt, no need to be doing mental gymnastics to try and excuse him. It'll be like Utd fans and Pogba soon, he can't play in a two, he needs two DM's etc etc...

Was Robertson not going mental at the ref because he was pulled back and the ref didn't give anything?

I'm practically certain he was looking at the lack of cover by Wijnaldum & Fabinho who by that time was trotting around like Frankenstein's monster with arthritis at the time.

In those run of fixtures I'd like to see a return to form by us. None of the shyte that was served up against Brighton or Huddersfield when we play Fulham next week.
We need Shaqiri too in those games & play him for the 90 minutes next weekend; I doubt we'll see him in midweek only cause it's Serbia. I'd rather he play for us than 90 minutes for Switzerland afterwards which Klopp will mention as if he's our only players who does it

Fulham could have Big Sam as manger by the time we play them.

Not sure if this was some kind of joke but I'll bite anyway.

Robertson was 100% complaing to the ref because he didn't get a free.

Anyways.. Arsenal are a totally different team now compared to the last few years under Wenger and getting a point down there is a decent result imo.

Midfield, Trent and Firmino not at it today, Trent particularly poor. Fair result overall but disappointing after going one up. If Lovren was available think he would have been partnering VVD with Gomez RB and think that's what we'll see in the big games.

Our squad still needs another two players. Klopp had no interest in using the bench bar Shaqiri and a few minutes for Matip which he seems to like doing to see out games.

A dribbling midfielder with a good left foot! Fekir was meant to be the Coutinho replacement.

What about going full on against a team an winning heart attack style....6-4. :)

Yeah, assumed it was this too, particularly as he’d just played the ball straight to the feet of an Arsenal player for them to create the chance he had to cover back for, so was in no position to be complaining at anyone other than the ref (who clearly should have called a foul).

When I watched VVD at Southampton, I thought he was an absolute wall. I thought he was worth 75m in todays money.

Hes even better than I thought he was. You couldnt buy him for double that now.

Bobby also works best where he can nip in from behind to take the ball, usually been the first point of the press. He excels at this and because he's so good at it the defenders and always looking over their shoulders and rush their passes.

With him being deeper he's facing the defenders coming towards him and they are now under less pressure and can make a more measured pass.

Bobbys position hasn't changed when we are defending, it's when we are attacking that he is dropping deeper to get on the ball

If we could have swapped Fabinho for Torreira before the game, it would have been a landslide win for the Reds. Happy to let the chap settle in to the club but he looked like he was settling in to the sofa last night. Please no sarky comments in response about writing off players, it's just an observation.

Fabinho showed a lot of fantastic anticipation, made some excellent tackles, especially first half. Just not quite quick enough off the mark.

I think the quality is clear to see.

I thought Mo looked good yesterday. things starting to come off for him and looks like he’s getting his mojo back.

I agree that Trent was terrible.

He is great playing against teams when we have most of the ball but he is struggling against Wingers with movement & pace.

Hopefully he can turn it around like last year because I would start Gomez/Clyne ahead of him for certain away games.
Firmino is badly out of form as well right now.

Disappointing to drop points yesterday but we will do all we can to keep pace with Man City.

It’ll be weird wanting them to get something while they cheer on City.

Am I the only one who gets annoyed with Salah's position when he seeks to tackle? It's almost always from the opposition side in terms of the ball carrying player instead of nipping goal side, so he ends up on the wrong side of the movement. Even when he arrives sideways on, rather than tracking back he usually takes himself out of the defence with his position. He really needs to get goalside with his approach run and slow/turn opponent.

But he is coming from an attacking position so he will never be goal side for a tackle on defense. Or am I reading this correctly?

Ah but he can, he has no trouble catching his man but instead of taking a moment to round his target (who is tight to the line as a rule) he just tries to stick a leg round and usually fails in his intent.

Regardless of his exact positioning, I think Bobby has been (relatively) poor so far this season.
His touch is slightly off (maybe 10%)where he was, and at times he looks heavy legged. Perhaps it's a bit of a hangover after an active summer, but he's so important that a slight dropping in performance has a big impact on the team.

We had all the better chances but arsenal worked harder and put more pressure on , we never really hit the top gears and still took a late goal for them to pull out a draw

That's what the frustration stems from.

It's one thing to give as good as you've got and fall short. I think we kinda saw that in 13/14. That team, as a team, was garbage. It had quality, but it had massive holes and no depth. Something was going to give somewhere. We were treading water before the Chelsea and Palace games.

It's another thing to see us not playing to our potential.
In another year, this side might stroll the league in third gear, but we don't have that luxury with City and even Chelsea the way they are, and more broadly, the depth of quality in the top 6.

We're clearly progressing again this season, and it can't be rushed. We haven't got this sort of quality in a long time though, so it's natural to feel like this might be our best shot, and we're just not quite doing enough.
