Hi G, you know me...keep it simple!! You did a huge amount right in training but made a few bad calls on the day. On another day you'd have gotten away with them. It's all part of the learning experience. Don't over think it just chalk it down, do the rehab, get the legs sorted and get back to enjoying your running for a while.

I can recommend loads of slow running on grass. Maybe consider growing a beard and stopping to hug a tree every so often I hear it's all the rage ;)

Well G you have made such progress over the last 2 years and one race doesn't change that. Glad to hear that recovery is underway and hope you get to enjoy your running for a few months until you decide what is next.

What a shock for you! Glad to hear you're on the mend. Take it easy and you'll be back before long.

Wasn't expecting to read that!! Scary stuff.

Gutted for you G, you trained so so hard. Truth is though it could have happened to any one of us, sometimes it's hard to see the wood for the trees when you're so focussed on reaching a goal.

I hope you're recovering well and I'll see you soon!

Jeez Gary, that's a rough experience - glad to hear you are okay and recovering. It's one of those things that I reckon will ultimately make you stronger mentally and physically as a runner as you build on the experience and learn from it.

Take some time to properly recover... If your body is up for it, by all means run, but don't push yourself back into anything too strenuous. I suppose I'm saying get back on the horse as soon as you can, but just do some prancing instead of racing :)

It could be worse... Your wedding photo could be up on a parkrun facebook page ;) Oh wait...

Thanks again for all well wishes, I have read every thing and some great
advice will take on board, and I have to say I am over whelmed by support
from everyone. I got a cancellation Appointment with physio yesterday and calf & Achilles to swollen to do anything with yet, will be back next week when will hopefully be able to start some work on it, no running for a few weeks. But defiantly not put off Marathon and will get back to running as soon as I can. So won't have anything to log for a while but will keep an eye on what people are doing. :)

    You haven't changed a bit :D

The absolute best thing about this place is the support you get when something goes wrong. Enjoy your rest now G.

    Thurs 4th

4 miles easy in evening after work, feels good to get going after long
    lay off

    Sat 6th

5 miles easy, Bull island run knocked on head But went out with Mrs Mc
Denis B and Firedance for gentle juant down along coast, really warm
but pace was grand and easy good catch up with Denis B.

    Tues 9th

4.89 miles easy run with dog in toe after work, nice relaxed local route including
2-3 miles n local park so dog could stretch his legs.

    Friday 12th

4.29 miles easy before work, out at 6.30 in morning, cause life seems to
take over in evenings, not always easy to get out.

    Sat 13th

Volunteering at Patk run, catch up in cafe with Laura a/c, Murph and Feris.
also JK on RD duty and MRSMc helping out with token sorting.
3 easy miles around ST Anne's on grass.

    Sunday 14th

    9 miles

2 easy w/u then 6 miles as MP with MRSMc and her running buddy doing
their LR, then slightly quicker mile back to car.

So this is week one of 10 week
base building plan with 3 GA runs and 1 endurance run. Pace will probably
change over next few weeks as fitness improves. There are strides in week
4,6,8,10 and LT of 16,18,2o mins in weeks 5,7,9 during 6 mile GA run so
will bring me up to 30 miles or so a week in week 10, and hopefully in
good shape to see what's next, have singed up for FD and will be running
with MrsG in her first 10 mile race, and hoping it is just at endurance pace
    for me.
