in the beginning the crumlin drimnagh gangs were one big crew of friends who had mostly attended the same school and grew up together.They were all involved in crime and began to get into large scale drug dealing and were sourcing their drugs from the cartel. A year later rattigan was at home taking coke and drinking for his brothers 18th birthday when he heard deco gavin was in the abrakebabra on crumlin road he got a knife and a balaclava and went down and stabbed gavin in the heart and twisted the knife killing him. a few months later two men broke into brian rattigans house when he was asleep upstairs and shot him in his bed with a shotgun and handgun he lost a kidney and his spleen but survived. A woman in the house made a statement to the gardai saying she recognised freddie thompson as one of the shooters but later retracted the statement. Not long after rattigan got out of hospital his little brother joey was walking home from a night out when he was shot dead. Rattigan wanted revenge on the crumlin crew and him wayne zambra and gary bryan were on there way to a house to kill a number of the crumlin side when they were intercepted by the gardai and rattigan opened fire on them only stopping when he ran out of shells, he ended up getting 13 years for this. The main suspects for the killing of rattigans brother was paul warren and the man who would become one of the cartels hitmen paddy doyle. warren was next killed in revenge for the joey rattigan killing the main suspect for that murder was john roche who was next to be killed. the main suspect for roches murder was darren geoghan who was next killed in a double hit along with gavin byrne. Two days later john roches brother noel was killed sitting in a car paddy doyle was again the main suspect and craig white was jailed for life for been the getaway driver. Then in 2006 wayne zambra was shot dead sitting in his car and a month later gary bryan was killed after only getting out of jail. Later in the year eddie mccabe who was loosely connected to both gangs was at his girlfriends house in drimnagh it was suspected he was present when zambra was killed. A neighbour said he seen him at his girlfriends porch when a car pulled up and he was called over he told then shouted to the neighbour to tell his girlfriend he would be back in 5 minutes. He was found the next morning in a lane in inchicore after been horrifically beaten and his attacker had attempted to blind him his sight was gone completly in one eye and his other eye was seriously damaged he also had a sewer rod stuck in the side of his head which went into his brain the doctors tried to save him but he died. Brian downes owned a car dealership and was suspected of providing cars and fake license plates to be used in gang murders he had also been arrested for questioning about john roches murder. He was standing outside with edward ward sorting out the paperwork for a van when a gunman ran up and killed brian then killed edward as he didnt want to leave any witnesses.Then in 2008 paddy doyle was killed in spain unconnected to the crumlin/drimnagh feud then shay obyrne was killed the boyfriend of rattigans sister sharon. shay and sharon were outside there house in tallaght when the hitman ran up and began shooting shay sharon tackled him over a wall and he shot her in the leg but she fought on and disarmed him and got the gun while she also ended up with the hitmans phone and a can of red bull fell out of his pocket. garreth obrien from bray was convicted of been the shooter from forensic evidence and his phone, his phone ended up getting eugene cullen who was extremely close to freddie a life sentence for planning the murder along with gary flynn cullen has since died in prison form an overdose. Anthony cannon was next killed he was wearing a bullet proof vest but was shot several times in the head he was controlling the rattigan gang since brian rattigan was in jail and had since been convicted of deco gavins murder. The drimnagh side had basically admitted defeat after this and there was no more trouble untill freddie thompsons brother richie and his wife catherine were attacked in a pub during a chance meeting with some old members of the rattigan crew the main instigator of the attack was supposedly gerard eglington and john and noel roches little brother kenneth was later convicted for his role in it. Eglington was then shot dead in retaliation for the attack in portarlington in laois

I see the person found dead yesterday has been named as Neil Fitzgerald. He was released from prison 2 weeks ago after a lengthy sentence for aiming a gun at a Garda. The same gun was previously used to shoot up Freddie Thompson's grandparent's house. In '09(ish).
