Frankly Im disappointed that Brienne has been sent to Riverrun with a mission as I wanted to see the continuing bizarre flirtation of Tormund.

I'm guessing Littlefinger told Sansa the truth about Riverrun to get back in her good book?

Ah here, lads!!! Can we have warnings in the OP when an episode is leaked? Came on here during the first ad break expecting some as-it-happens commentary and had the whole Hodor thing spoiled for me.

Seconded, popped into the thread last night and had Hodor spoiled for me.

Nearly did the same thing, twigged there was 60 posts and thought better of it. What an ending, **** way to get it spoiled. I do feel bad for a lot of people who won't see this till tonight and will probably have it spoilered by memes and the like.

    I wasn't so canny lol
It was well flagged and it's discussion thread about the episode. What do you expect?!

Well flagged? how so? third post told of Hodor.

Ah well, wasn't too bothered. Great episode, poor Wylis, I wonder if he has any inkling of what occurred in the future, heobviously wouldn't be able to tell anyone.

I've always assumed this thread is "don't look until you've watched the ep" and not a follow the ep one.

Can see the other side though. Can we just add something to the forum to deal with leaked eps?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 500 ✭✭✭CiaranW

I know Brienne said she killed Stannis, but I'm still not so sure! They didn't fully show it after all.
Maybe Yara and Theon will meet him.

    Yes - totally this!!

Everyone watches at different times so why would you think it was a follow the episode thread? It has never been that.

Poor Hodor, poor poor Hodor. I think Bran is the Night King, pause the moment where he grabs Bran the likeness is uncanny. The look on Varys face when the Red Priestess recalled his gelding was shocking. :)

Ten episodes really isn't enough. Tormund better get lucky. :D

I'm working the late shift this week so I had time to download and watch it this morning. Happy with that.

Now I've been emotionally affected by it and I need to share but nobody in work has seen it yet. What is this hell?

Anyway, it's episodes like that that make up for the a lot of the stuff that bugged me in the last season.

You would think that if you are teaching some young lad how to look into the past you'd mention that if he happens to come across a bloke who is white with blue eyes and carries a big fcuk off sword that he'll be able to see you and touch you and if that happens we're all screwed?

Surely this topic would be covered in lecture 1 of how to be a three eyed raven?

If it's open as the episode airs and you don't know it's leaked I think it's fair to assume they opened it as it airs. All it takes is one post "episode leaked so we're opening it early" or along those lines.

Why on earth would you come into a thread about an episode you haven't seen yet, even if watching live? The leak was well flagged - I posted about it yesterday morning, the internet was ablaze with chatter about it. Lots of people here saw the episode and wanted to discuss it, so the mods opened the thread.

Am I right in thinking that this is the first major character death that has been a surprise for book readers?

That was said in the speculation thread.

I see your point but personally Id never go near an episode discussion thread (or even the internet in its entirety!) unless Id seen the whole episode.

Depends if you count Roose Bolton as a major character.....i would think he was on a par with Hodor....

Well, Stannis was the first for me. He's still alive and well in the books thus far.

Roose is still alive in the books isn't he? Though the writing was on the wall there.

The guys at the wall, hardly major.

    Doran?

This had far more impact than all those together though

It wasn't flagged on the thread. I saw this thread on the home page I didn't go into the GoT forum or in may have seen your thread.

I don't have a problem with the thread opening early but you have to have a warning telling people why, in case they have lives outside the internet, and that's not a dig I was genuinely out and about yesterday and didn't know about the leak.

I wouldn't classify Hodor as a major character either to be fair. He's much loved, but he's basically Bran's muscle.

Would love if Robert Sheehan turned up at Winterfell and drove Roose mad :D

Roose and Stannis weren't in season 1 though, Hodor is an original cast member; effectively one of the Starks by extension.

    - I'd have thought that if Sansa was this newfound wise young woman she'd have kept Littlefinger close at hand to keep an eye on him. Keep your enemies close and all that? Plus he does have an army in fairness.

"I have an one of the biggest armies in westeros and I'll do whatever you tell me to"

    "Oh f**k off littlefinger"

That was an officer class decision right there Sansa sweetheart, the correct response was: "Off you go then matey, get stuck into the boltons"

Ah well that's a horse of a different colour. In that case, yes, first original cast member from S1 to be killed off that came as a surprise.....;)

People who have lives but are awake to watch GoT live at two in the morning and on Boards about it at the same time?

I see your point but disagree - it's a thread to discuss the episode, that's what everyone was doing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,024 ✭✭✭✭Baggly

Play it safe - assume there may be spoilers in the thread.

Everyone watches it at different times anyway, so it makes no sense to stop some people discussing the episode to wait for others.

Did anyone else notice that Bran's eyes didn't go white when he warged into Hodor at the end?

He may have passed on the warg to Hodor, which is why his did go white?

Oooooooh do you think this is why Hodor went mad the first time Bran warg'd into him (when he was an adult).

Indeed. Unless the mods want to put a disclaimer stating which format of the episode people can discuss, i.e. 'Sky Atlantic/HBO GO/Yarrrr! or otherwise', but that would be awfully pedantic.

The best solution would be: when the thread opens, assume the worst.

I don't think old Hodor's eyes were white either?

    I am so confused!

I thought that the actor for Rickard looked quite similar to Jon, nice touch.

Also, too bad Ned didn't take his advice about if he had to fight, make sure to win. :o
