    Sort of.Irish bloke reackons he's invented a plug in device that can improve petrol engine efficiency by 50% and diesels by 15%.
    Hydrogen definitely seems to be the future of transport,makes electric cars even less viable if it works.

    Pure snake oil. Loads of people in different countries have all "invented" the same nonsense before, and despite their claims to the contrary you can't break the laws of thermodynamics.

    I remember seeing on Top Gear (the only time I ever watched it) these Honda Clarity (I think ) cars that were run on hydrogen and you pumped it into the car like a petrol pump.

    Making petrol burning engines slightly more efficient doesn't change the fact that they are still taking carbon dioxide from beneath the earth and releasing it into the atmosphere.     I can totally accept that it's possible to improve the efficiency of an internal combustion engine. I see nothing in that that about a control system to adjust the amount of H2 and O2 being produced to match the fuel being injected into the engine and therefore have to assume it's almost never at an optimal ratio. There's countless variants of this device out there already, just search HHO on this forum. Given the current emissions legislation and the documented slights of hand being pulled by major manufacturers, yes that was NOx but those were being masked to make better CO2 numbers, if there was anything in this, it would be shipping in cars from Wolfsburg already.

    While fuel efficiency may not be everyones priority I imagine that someone purchasing trucks for a fleet would factor in the running costs as well the initial purchase price when deciding which truck to buy.

    Car and truck manufacturers spend millions on R&D using the best engineers they can hire, all trying to get a competitive edge on each other. For this reason I doubt if the motor industry would "bury" any new engine/fuel designs that lead to greater fuel efficiencies.

    How likely is it then that an unemployed architect has achieved something none of the engineers have done?

    Also the laws of thermodynamics must be obeyed, the engine is supplying the power via an alternator to the hydrogen generator (electrolysis) which then creates the additional fuel for the engine?

    You still need energy to get the hydrogen out.

    Yes and even if he got the efficiency of the electrolysis up to 100% there are inefficiencies in the engine and in the alternator which supply the electrolysis device so it can't work.

    Tesla electric cars aren't exactly groundbreaking either. Essentially a load of Li-ion laptop batteries driving the motor. The electric battery is an older technology than the ICE.

The court subsequently halted the allegedly illegal practices and froze some of the defendants' assets pending further litigation.

    Not by much. Volta invented the battery in 1800.

    De Rivaz had an ICE in a vehicle back in 1807 and it had electric ignition.



    Anyway this invention is about more efficient production of hydrogen using less electricity. It's not about how efficient it's use in transport is.
