It will be interesting to see how Chelsea will be priced next season. Leicester will be overpriced that's for sure!

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

After finishes of 352nd and 102nd in the last two seasons I've been thinking about starting some kind of fantasy football blog for next season but have no idea where to start. Maybe not even a blog but even to contribute to an existing website or something. Has anyone here ever done anything like that? I wouldn't want to come across as some kind of know it all giving out tips rather just to give others an insight into my own team and rationale for transfers ect. This is something I have just started to think about in the past few days and I may end up doing nothing but I thought I'd ask on here to get some valued opinions
I can't advise on the mechanism for a blog, but Id be genuinely interested in a thread to ask the likes of you and ElTel and others in the top 1000 or so for what you look for when picking a team / selecting transfers. If its a blog instead of a thread, I'll read it either way.

My highest finish has been in the top 5k, so I'd be interested in reading up on anything that might improve my game. Well, not now, I might give myself a few weeks off FPL.

Like Donal, I'd be interested in how you play the game. What's your strategy(ies)? How much planning do you do? How do you build your squad? Do you take particular care of its balance or not? What's your policy regarding keepers, defenders? Do you play strong front 7 with a cheap bench fodder or rotate a strong front 8? How much care you bring to your team value? How do you select your captains, do you follow popular polls or do you ignore them? Same with transfers? Do you generally take risks or not, like are you sword or shield? Obviously, getting 2 such consecutive finishes can't be down to luck but it played its part. How much of it do you reckon you got your way ? etc... etc...

    Great play anyway. Bravo!

I think it is more then impressive getting two consecutive finishes like this.
Considering that the last two seasons have been completely different. Obvious form teams winning and scoring points v a season of surprises and big teams underachieving.
I think it shows that he does not follow the crowd and has very little biases when he plays the game. Not like me who assumed Leicester would go backwards and got rid of Mahrez mid season!

I noticed that there are always plenty of players who go under the Radar like Milner who are consistent points getters over a long period but are unspectacular in the short term. I think I need to stop following the crowd so much and make my own original choices.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

If be interested on his captain choice process
The FFS poll in particular cost me lots of points this season ......

I'm pretty sure FutureGuy had his own website offering advice for a while, so you could ask him. I'm sure that we wouldn't mind you having your own advice thread here, though! ;)

    @mcgettigan16

If you can get some kinda simple blog site set up that would probably be the way to do it.

Keep it simple with maybe a regular team selection round up and a captaincy analysis as the core. Season preview, general strategy thoughts etc as features.

The get on twitter and create a presence around the FPL community there.

www.fantasyfootballgeek.co.uk is a good example of a simple blog site which is really just one man's take on the game. It was the first decent resource I found when I was learning to play this thing 3 years ago.

Future Guy used to run a popular Twitter page and blog so maybe ask him.

You could setup a Facebook page.

    Hi folks

I'm looking to join the boards FF leagues for next year. I see different threads for qualifying, league 1, pay leagues, etc so just wondering how I go about joining if possible?

I was part of a work league but changed jobs during the year and there seems to be little interest in the new company so i'll have to get my fix elsewhere!

Apologies if this is detailed somewhere else - i didn't see it anywhere obvious.

    Cheers,
    Slim

    Welcome to FSA!

For the football league format one you have to start in the qualifying league and work your way up. Be warned it's one of the toughest leagues to do well in anywhere! For the others there will be threads with how to enter that pop up once the game opens after the Euros. There is a euros league set up if you're going to be jumping in that game.

That would be nice! I'm expecting him to be an over priced forward again despite it seemingly clear he'll be in midfield. Although if they wanted to make him a £10m defender I'm OK with that!

I can see Mourinho making him his number 9.

Agree, think the Rooney in midfield experiment will come to an abrupt end.

Yeh I would imagine he'll play further forward next season than he would had LVG stayed. I really like Rooney as a midfielder that run he made for the goal was like the Rooney of old! Depay seems like the type of player Mourinho might be able to use in an effective way be nice if he gets a price drop and then Jose turns him into a point scorer for us!

I heard Zlatan isn't going to wear a number he'll just have a infinity symbol on his back because it represents the limit of his ability.

It'll be huge no doubt. Wouldn't be that surprised if him and Kane were both around 12 next year (assuming he ends up at United).

So that leaves me with 76m left then loads of Burnley and Boro.

I didn't start him last season he'll need to do some job impressing Mourinho in pre-season to get many minutes at the start of next season. Would be nice if he got priced low and then Jose came out and said he was first choice!

Yep! I also wonder will Rooney be classified as a midfield player.

I'd say almost definitely not. They very rarely switch a player from striker to midfield. I think it would nearly require Rooney to play a whole season in midfield. He played up front plenty the season gone so based on that they won't change it.

These things blur the lines very frequently in any case, Alexis Sanchez, Sadio Mane, Theo Walcott and Andre Ayew remain midfielders while Long, Borini, Son and Jordan Ayew are down as strikers, despite all 8 of them playing very attacking roles but predominantly from wide areas.

I think they are loathe to change these things until the evidence is indisputable.

Blind could be one to watch. Classed as a midfielder last year, but played at CB for the entire season. He'll most likely be classed as a defender for 2016/17, but Jose could deploy him midfield and may keep him on taking corners.

I've a feeling we will be losing Bellerin as a defender with attacking capabilities this summer. With Alves leaving Barca he seems the obvious choice.

He'd definitely be one to consider then! He'd still probably be expensive though so would have to be on corners to be value. The manager change might put them off switching him though which would be a shame a United defender with Jose in charge who is on corners! Its like a perfect storm now if we could just get him on penalties and he's moving into must have territory!
