A lot of the stuff isnt second hand, just a bit of box damage, look at description if its 'used very good' or 'used like new' it will more than likely be perfect.

Amazon only offer a 30-day warranty though, and if you csn get a warrantty from the manufacturer remains to be seen.

That is 30days to return the item if you don't like it or feel it is not as described.

If any of the warehouse items are faulty you have the same warranty and rights as if it was new but excluding any damages notified to you at the time of purchase.

Yeah thats what i meant, but 30 days is all you're going to get.

It even says so on their page:

They explicity say theres absolutely no manufacturers warranty, and no warrantty with amazon themselves, just a 30 day money back guarantee.

Thats incorrect,i purchased a coffee machine 2 years ago from the warehouse it was quite expensive so i contacted Amazon to ask about the warranty and they confirmed I would have a one year warranty. The machine packed up after 9 months and i got a full refund and they paid for the machine to be returned

That sounds reassuring but I womder have they changed their policy since?

I dont understand why they would have that on the warehouse deals page if they have some sort of warranty.

bought an "open box" ssd that refused to work after 6 months. was told by Amazon they won't replace it as it was only covered by 30days RTB. Crucial however was able to send me replacement when contacted

I don't know if this counts as a "bargain" or if it's of any use to people in the thread, but the price for a year of Prime is £59 instead of £79 until midnight tonight.

Just go to the Amazon homepage to see the banner ads.

I bought it last night, so I'm not fully sure how to get all the features going yet. Free music, books and videos etc.

You must be new to Prime to get the reduced price :)

Free music and Video isn't available outside of the UK. The included fast shipping option is useless here also.

I dont understand why they would have that on the warehouse deals page if they have some sort of warranty.

    http://www.consumerhelp.ie/second-hand
When you buy a second-hand item from someone who is selling it as part of their business, you have a similar set of rights as when you buy a new item. However, your rights very much depend on what you paid for the item.

Any item you buy, including a second-hand item, must be fit for the purpose it has been sold for. It must also be as described to you, and the quality must be of an expected level, given the price you paid.

But you cannot expect second-hand goods to be of the same standard as new products.

Second-hand goods are “sold as seen”, so there may be some fault, imperfection or wear and tear. You need to examine the item carefully and ask the seller to point out any damage or imperfections. Make sure the item does what it is expected to do. For example, if it is a second-hand television set, check that the picture and sound are working correctly, the reception is clear and the remote control works as it should.

For some items, for example jewellery or antique furniture, you should get an expert opinion before you decide to buy. With second hand cars, you should follow our checklist on how to check out a car.

If the item turns out to be faulty, you have the right to return it to the shop where you bought it and ask for a replacement, a repair or a refund.

    Private sales

If you buy second-hand items through a private sale – like a second-hand car through a newspaper or website advert - you have no consumer rights as you are not buying from a business.

If you buy from a private seller, the item only has to be owned by the seller and fit their description. The item does not have to be suitable for any purpose. So it is very much a case of "buyer beware". You should check the item carefully and make sure you are happy before you buy it. For example, if you are buying a second hand car privately, you should consider having a mechanic look at it first.

Thats all well and good but you're buying from the UK! :p

And I have read that people have not been able to get amazon to replace or refund items after a year, even bought from non warehouse deals, despite being covered by the UK sale of goods act.

Prime shipping is great for items that you ship to mail services like ParcelMotel.

You could always get yourself a VPN service, although any decent VPN will cost you more than the 20 quid you saved in prime membership! VPN bargains always pop up on BA though, so keep an eye out.

Edit: I thought it was obvious :P but to clarify the VPN service is to watch prime videos.
