well many may not have considered it. I know several people who were surprised I was served various beers in guinness glasses, especially since it was guinness and they thought they were somehow protected (possibly due to guinness wishes that guinness be served in a guinness glass).

I hate most new glasses as most have the etching in them to promote bubbles and can lead to them being prematurely flat.

I have yet to see etching in guinness glasses so its a safe bet to ask for them.

Probably because it (Harp) seems to be a common tap in Irish bars in the States. Exchange of ****ty lagers seems to be part of our special relationship.

I'd opt for a pint of Smithwicks if there was't anything crafty to hand. I like a simple malty ale. But I can see it has little appeal for either bearded hop fiends or big brand lager drinkers, and it doesn't garner the loyalty that the stouts do, so it's between a rock and a hard place. Macardles is nicer, and, I'd assume, even more endangered.

If Smithwicks hadnt released their pale, winter or summer ale and hadnt changed the the look of their taps,bottles etc, then no one would care. Personally i think they changed the recipe as it's much more palatable than than the stnk it was 20 years ago.

Not a big drinker but whenever I found myself in a pub when I was younger I always got Smithwicks. Tastes nicer than anything else I find.

The Pale Ale and Blonde are nice too. 2euro a bottle in Dunnes, not too bad.

I think it is since most people drink smithwicks in pubs and its not displayed clearly. Smithwicks cans are rarely going cheap, this year was the first I can remember seeing them going very cheap. Like around christmas you get your heineken/guinness/bud in trays going cheap. Smithwicks is currently €2.35 a can in tesco.

Everyone seems to think all the mainstream drinks on draught are 4.3% and most are, Guinness is 4.2% here and many think it is 4.3%, feck all difference but smithwicks at 3.8% is significant. It is/was 5% in the US.
