did i ever say hed a hope of winning? not gunna argue with you cause its all un-quantifiable opinions but i dont see the gap as being that big, its definitely there alright, but I'm sure he knows how to lace up a pair of gloves!

MMA boxing is completely different in so many ways, different gloves for one, also in mma you have to box while also being wary of being taken down so you can't load up as much, smaller gloves means defense is practically impossible but its a standard technique in boxing, its a completely different discipline, its so much further from conventional boxing than people realise.

Conor has some of the best hands in mma but that wouldn't translate into boxing.Chuck had some of the best hands in mma history but in conventional boxing he would be absolutely terrible so its a completely different animal and Conor wouldn't stand a chance against any pro boxer.

If your nan was one of the best boxers (and the best defensive one) of the last 20 years, then yeah, maybe she would.

Nobody is saying "McGregor is ****e". What they're saying is when it comes to elite levels of sport when the tiniest margins can make all the difference, the difference between the two wouldn't be... quite so tiny.

Not specifically about Mayweather.....but I swear to jaysus the anti McGregor tone on this forum is staggering, page after page he wouldn't stand a chance against this that and this ......I know it's all about opinions but fup me you'd swear he was some sort of fraud at what he does

Sure he had a few lucky punches and had chad gas on him, he's a fraud.

Dunno if you're directing that at me or not but i am definitely not in the anti-McGregor brigade whatsoever, but i don't think its at all an attack on his skills to say he can't compete with the elite boxers, they absolutely couldn't last a few seconds with him in the octagon so it works both ways.

I am a big fan of Conors, like i said he has some of the best hands in mma and doesn't get enough credit for how exciting his style is,one thing you get from his fights is finishes and excitement and you get your moneys worth not like a Mayweather fight.

But its definitely naive to think he can compete with pro boxers they spend all day every day training for boxing thats all they train for they don't need to do wrestling Jiu Jitsu etc etc their boxing would be on another level, not to mention that his successful mma stand up just wouldn't translate into a top level boxer.

Mod Note: Folks there is little or no chance of Mayweather and McGregor fighting anytime soon while he is under contract to the UFC (or ever most likely) but if you want to discuss it do so without the trolling nonsense, anyone dropping in to give their 2 cents thats not regularly on here take that as being forewarned..

lol as if they would accept a bet of anything like that

PP would most definitely take a bet of a few grand on anything they've priced up at 1/5 :)

On €3k the potential payout is €3.6K, €600 won't break them and if they've it priced right any €3k bet is just turnover for them.

Just saw on CNN an interview with Amir Khan ahead of his fight. He said he was open to MMA and when asked whether he could take on McGregor he said he could take and finish him with ease

We'll just add him to the pile of fighters calling out Mac.

This is how mcgregor v mayweather would go, in mayweathers favour obviously.

ya reckon? I wouldnt say itd be a ko, mayweather would just defend and tap tap his way to a decision like all of his fights

So now you're not just having a pop at one Irish fighter, but 2? I don't really get it.

Mayweather has 26 knock out wins, also id say he would wanna knock Conor out, if it was ever to go ahead, which it never will.

Im just going on his last few fights though, was nowhere near as good defensively earlier in his career, say hed come out very carefully against mcgregor cause nomatter how good/bad his boxing is you cant deny his one-punch power and precision. haha i know right its like we're debating batman vs superman! :D:D:D

Jesus this is off the wall crazy, Mayweather's last few fights were against fighters at the top.of the professional boxing game not some guy that won an Irish title 15 years ago!

McGregor would be lucky to land a clean shot if this fight were ever to happen which it won't. He's as decent striker by MMA standards but a million miles.away from the top.professional boxers

In the same way if they were to fight under MMA rules McGregor wins in the first round

The max bet is little to do with the price. No problem getting 3k on a horse. This is a novelty market, max bet is usually very low.
The market is gone now anyway

    Just a random thought.

Is Tom Egan usually in Conors corner or just there for preparation? Don't remember seeing him much on the 196 preparation.

    On social media at least.

Not sure why its even being talked about, he is under contract with the UFC, he is just trying to keep his name in the public eye, same as Mayweather, Ariel has rubbished it, Dana has rubbished it, there is strong talk that Diaz v McGregor II is going to headline UFC202 in a welterwight bout on August 20th.

Delusional. I think some people are forgetting the difference in quality of professional boxers and mma strikers.

Floyd has only been hit properly twice in his career, both times by Mosley and he still destroyed him in that fight.

His defense has always been on point, his punching output and knockout power only started to fade later in his career because of hand injuries which happens to many boxers.

He wouldn't come out defensively against Conor, he'd come out like he did against Canelo, a man who was over a stone heavier than him and he'd stand and trade confident that he'd pick him apart. Conor would be lucky to tag him.

Now if you swapped it to MMA rules, even if it didn't go to the ground I'd be confident Conor would win 95% of the exchanges on the feet. People seem to underestimate the fundamentals are totally different for striking from boxing to MMA.

    Shoulder roll that Floyd.

Why didn't Conor keep doing that, every dog on the street was saying that's how to get at Diaz

What are you on about? Mayweather was always EXCEPTIONAL defensively, hence the Pretty Boy nickname, because he didn't get hit.

Your right about the approach though, he wouldn't be daft enough to come out like a bull.
