Saw the link on airliners about BDL. I think they are just making it up!

Both Bradley and Aer Lingus have economic-development ambitions. In recent years, Aer Lingus has invested millions, Butler said, to reposition its Dublin base as a hub for its flights of Boeing 757 and Airbus A380 jetliners from the U.S. and other overseas destinations to deposit passengers, who then board its short-haul, Boeing 737s to destinations throughout Europe.

It sounds a bit like the section in the Cara magazine about EIs 80th anniversary, and how they were crucial with the A330's entry to service / ETOPS. And the quote from the maintenance manager goes something like Lockheed probably owe them a few bob for it.

    Poor research...

CJX is due in service May 4th.

Undergoing cabin fit-out is what I'm given to understand..

Jaasssus lads we mightn't have to wait for Emirates after all.

Aerlingus to maybe get a A380!

I can't imagine the 2nd hand market for A380's is blossoming at the moment!! As that's where he's saying they will be sourced!

Sounds like manager speak, telling people what they want to hear,
A big fleet expanding airline is always good news for investors etc...

Emirates, Thai, Malaysian and Singapore all may be looking to sell either old frames or get out of operating entirely. Only wanting Roller limits them though.

Posturing to get a better price on new from both Airbus and RR may be more likely. Both will want more total units sold.

Its a bluff piece to perk up Airbuses ears that BA are looking 2nd hand but know they will want a huge order, He just wants a huge discount.

Did he ever work for MOL? Went to he same school? Maybe they are snapchat friends?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,712 ✭✭✭roundymac

They are good social buddies in fact. I'm sure the odd airplane comes into the discussion. Although to read todays Farm Exam MOL is more the gentleman Farmer overseeing the sale of some of his prized Angus herd. €7k for 2 bulls less than two years old is handy money.

Surprised at this treatment of pax (sorry, guests). Could they not have hired in an aircraft for a few days?

"Smart" will not be too pleased :).

At this time of year would there be enough spare capacity to re-route affected parties through other US airports and onwards on domestic?

Surprised also. Surly they would have known with a bit of notice that the new 757 would not be ready and could have sourced the likes of Titan, Omni or whoever to fill in. A good few pissed off pax one would imagine and understandably so.

Just on the cancelling of the snn-bos flight. Is this ultimately down to the culture the current CEO buys into?

Its more burden sharing than anything else, at least this time. (Unlike some others)

Pretty sloppy situation. That aircraft has been in SNN for a couple of month now. Its condition should have been known. In fact I was surprised that it hasn't been in revenue service over the last week or two (shakedown flights so to speak) Either something very unusual cropped up or somebody was holding out and crossing their fingers over the last week.
With the DUB-LAX route starting today this aircraft in service requirement was pretty much telegraphed out weeks,if not months ago.

SNN-BOS-BOS was prob cancelled as it had the lowest booked load and/or the lowest number of onward connecting passengers, when cancelling a flight the airline does actually try to cancel the one with the less knock on disruption.
EG. Flight A with 100 pax, 60 who are connecting might be kept, while Flight B with 120 pax but only 20 are connecting will be cancelled. Or the cancellation could be based on which aircraft is available at the correct time today and when the aircraft might be needed in 2-3 days time, there are several factors that ultimately decide which flight gets cancelled

Based on stuff I heard from last year I would say yes. Talking to an EI engineering mate just before Christmas. He said that EI did very well last Summer in terms of disruption. Very little tech snags and diversion creating chaos on the T/A operation. His fear was that the CEO/COO and the rest of the Exec team would then base this years timetable/operation on that 'relatively' trouble free summer.
Now that's just one guy so I cant comment on current mgmt culture but from my time in EI flight Ops (years ago) I would concur.

EI-LAX is rather appropriately on her way to LAX for day one of the resumption of the DUB/LAX for EI

Thanks Tenger. I wonder how long that culture will last. Can't see IAG loving the penny savings at the expense of pounds lost.

    Or am I totally wrong?

I fear IAG love and push for the type of penny pinching, bonus inspired, "looks good on paper" type of performance, unfortunately.

Any news on the "new" A320 that's due to join the fleet ?

Well the chosen frame was declined by EI cabin was not suitable so a 5 week delay, thus EI EPU remains with EI in hangar 6 , in event needed
Full Vueling exterior but ready if required

Thanks for the reply, I assume then that the 5 week delay is for Vueling to refit the cabin to a suitable standard and not to source a new A320?

Prob be fine until 20 May, likely full time after that until A320 arrives.

I noticed last night that a Cork aircraft seemed to operate the SNN-FAO, how does this work? Surly the same crew wouldn't be in hours to do ORK-FAO-SNN-FAO-ORK ? Is there a crew change along the way? I hope so!

    Think it works like:

    1 - ORK-FAO-SNN
    2 - SNN-FAO-ORK

So crew change at SNN, Old crew bussed back to Cork?
