So in terms of future growth of Aer Lingus outside of DUB, will we see more routes like this?

Well the SNN-AGP did the same thing today so I guess ORK and SNN crew are to get used to it !!

Any way they can swap at one of the out stations?

Probably a stupid question - just I remember earlier in the thread that to get stobarts cork based atr to Dublin, a swap happens somewhere

Yeah all airlines do aircraft changes downroute, but this issue here is the crew, from any base would be out of hours to complete this duty... Ireland- Faro is probably a 3 hour block time each way! You couldn't do 4 of them with a 40 min turn.

So crew change at SNN, Old crew bussed back to Cork?

It has happened previously that a 172 from Atlantic Flight Training in ORK has collected EI crew in SNN and flown them back to ORK. I don't know if it's a regular occurrence, but it has happened..

I'm intrigued by that – given you've got four cabin crew and two drivers I'd have thought something bigger than a 172 would be needed...

I develop Superior Solitaire when I'm not procrastinating on boards.ie.

Not forgetting the new crew come up from cork,I think all SNN flights are piloted by crew from DUB for LHR flights and ORK on W rotations

Maybe it only collected the pilots, cabin crew may have been sent by bus/taxi. Or vice versa..

EI-LAX is rather appropriately on her way to LAX for day one of the resumption of the DUB/LAX for EI

    ...and its arrival in LAX.

    What's your call sign?

Wasn't this route flown by EI before? Hardly inaugural.

    May 1999 - Oct 2008.

A bit like the Taoiseach's Speech at the first Dail sitting, he made an inaugural speech 5 years ago too!! "Its inaugural for this term".

Indeed. However the route was "ended" in 2008 rather than suspended. At the time there was no sense of "we will return at some point".
So this relaunch is welcome and from a PR point of view (if not an grammar OCD view!) they are allowed to use the term 'inaugural'.

One of the new a330s is beginning assembly at the moment I hear

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 72,905 ✭✭✭✭L1011

Ignore my ignorance but how long would it take from assembly to delivery?

Believe its about 3 months. Most recent frame delivered is 20 MSNs lower although they are not always in order and the production rate is ~6 a month currently. It was ~10 a month but has been slowed (and then brought back up slightly) due to demand changes.

Additional ex Vueling A320 now in EI livery in MAD
Final checks and then due to be handed over Friday, fingers crossed
To date A319 ex EI in Vueling livery stored in hangar 6 , not needed so far,
Still missing 4th B757 due delay ACL in SNN so passengers are getting shuffled onto other t/all flights, already a busy summer

Solid loads now LAX DUB as Americans begin to travel EI fleet will be very stretched this summer and any delay ex Airbus new deliveries will have significant impact

Any ideas when the 4th 757 is due to enter service?

Was supposed to be May 4th but something didnt go right.
    Dont have any further info.
Read elsewhere online that this is caused disruption to EI B757 flights to Toronto and Washington.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 958 ✭✭✭Bussywussy

Yea an A330 was supposed to operate to Toronto last weekend but that was pulled as they weren't allowed, they had to apply for permits etc, some Air Canada cosy cartel agreement I heard.

It's quite bad that this is happening at the beginning of summer season, what have EI been doing about it? Are they re-routing people via partner airlines? Why have they not hired in Titan etc.?

The new ASL 757 is delayed, end of lease/redelivery delays always happen due to reps squabbling of who pays for what etc which may not be the case here but it happens

Think a Titan 757 routed to SNN earlier.

    Yep a Titan 757 operated SNN-BOS today.
