    Yep I know the story.
A lot of the cars were actually bought and are being resold on dd also I believe.

If you knew the story, you could have just replied to him instead of two pointless, sarky responses to me.

I'm not sure what you're looking for.

Apologies for any confusion my request may have caused, I thought it was pretty obvious what I was asking for. I certainly wasn't trying to start WW4.

To be clear, I was simply looking for clarification of the "Alexandra Road abandoned cars" statement that you made. I for one had no idea what you were on about but thank you for taking the time to shed some light on the matter.

Some time in the last year or so, someone reached a deal to buy the cars in one lot.

Reading between the lines I'd say they have no papers with them yet.

actually, its pretty clear that they have no papers. ;-)

Reading between the lines I'd say they have no papers with them yet.

Several of the higher value cars seemed to acquire dereg certs from Japan, all the cheaper ones were/are listed as having no documents.

At a guess, it costs the seller €<xxx> per dereg cert and it isn't worth the money to get them for the cheaper cars.

Yawlboy, it was the most formal way I have ever been asked for more information online which made me wonder what exactly you were looking for (or perhaps not looking for). I don't know if someone on here has a connection to the cars mentioned. No offense intended!

I'm down in Cork, no connection to any car dealers anywhere other than buying vehicles off them. I'll try to be less formal in future. :P

I think it's actually mad how cars can get caught in limbo like that. Especially when they end up having to be crushed. I'm sure there are shipping containers full of mental cars all over the world that will just rot because of red tape

This is why I dont get why the seller said you could register it in the UK but not here.
With those cars it is supposed to be so expensive and difficult to get the documentation from the Japanese authorities that they are effectively write offs. Remember someone saying that the car would have to be shipped back to Japan in order to get the docs in order and then re ship it back.
Not sure how true this is however.

    .

I'd imagine it is more to do with them being delinquent with import duties than anything to do with registration.

I'd doubt you need to ship the cars back for the docs, the docs are probably being held on receipt of monies owed. Pay whats owed and you can get the docs.

But how monumental a pain in the ar$e that would be I cannot even begin to imagine.

Yeah and you also need to add the back costs of the ports charges.
Wasn't someone on here enquiring about one of the cars and the port wanted ridiculous storage charges?

So basically stay away from that car.
It's unclear to me who actually owns them, the port? You'd thin that they would cut their losses and sell the cars off, where possible rather than charge storage fees and possibly never see a cent for the cars.

Unless you want to put up with the red tape. I wouldn't go near them personally

Lovely sound off it, but it burns oil. I see it in Newbridge/Kildare on daily basis.

Nice car tbf - what did this start out at? Mid 2k?
At this rate he'll be paying someone to take it off him!

Price sounds very high but it needs nothing and I've spent a nice few bob getting it that way.

Not so much a fan of the newer generation of four pot diesel BMW's being branded as premium these days but my god that 7 Series.

What an absolute cracking motor. Love the period wheels too and the Pirelli P6000's (absolutely terrible tyre btw!).

I have I down somewhere that I will own an E38 again, just love the shape. I don't even care that one is £19k!

E38 and E39 are both itches I'd love to scratch. Driven both, such solid cars.

Great spec and beautiful colour. You'd be wanting the 8 pot though at least. Not sure on the aftermarket angel eyes.

8 pot is nice, but the S6 in the 728i is a peach as well. Yeah, the car needs its original lights and chrome grill back, but as you say, color an spec are hard to beat.

I've been watching that it went €1600 - €1950 - €2150 over the past few weeks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,653 ✭✭✭Voodoomelon

It's like an IQ test, what price will be next in the sequence :D

    €2500 is my guess.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,800 ✭✭✭The Guvnor

Saw that - it'll not shift at that price - maybe the seller is a lurker on boards?:D

I'd have thought the longer it lingers the price can only go down.

I know if I was interested I'd not consider a bid above €1600 if even that high.:eek:
