The Clare People tweeted that Conlon has ankle logament 'damage'. This isnt good news at all, that could easily keep him out for 6 weeks if its a bad sprain. I can see why the management are keeping details quiet, they as we need him for the championsjip match. I know this is hindsight, but Conlon went down early v Kilkenny when Tony Kelly was nearly subbed on, this might have been avoided if the medics had intervened.

Anyway this changes everything with regards to our hurling on Sunday. Unless we play Peter Duggan or Aaron Shanagher we wont have a direct game that we have used well with Conlon. Tony Kelly will likely play from the start. I think Waterford should this weekend, although we will have a shout if we can stop Waterford from getting goal(s).

to be fair i dont expect to see too many changes from the last day against kilkenny , i think colin ryan will start as conlon's replacement and if kelly dose start it will be at david reidys expense albeit very unlucky to lose it , with honan or cunningham partnering mcgrath up front with podge dropping back

it will probably be gudgey for flanagan at wing back with patch dropping back to the corner , david fitzgerald should start midfield again he seems to be a very good ball winner which we will need against the likes of kevin moran ,

i would much rather start reidy and leave tony on the bench for the 2nd half along with o'donnell as an impact sub also , there is no point in wholesale changes after the semi final , it will also keep the training sessions fairly lively too over the next few weeks heading into championship two changes would be plenty if you ask me

I'd say Clare by 6 or 7 on Sunday.

They are just further down the road than Waterford.
I couldn't see Waterford giving Kilkenny a trimming like that.

Hope I'm wrong, but even without the injuries I think ye'll be too strong.
    Can't wait for the game

I would say that I couldn't see Clare giving Limerick a trimming like that.

As we get closer to the game I'm struggling to see past a Clare win to be honest but I think it'll be extremely tight and goals will end up being the difference, without Conlon Clare will struggle to win.

    Waterfords tram for Sunday.

    1. Stephen O'Keeffe (Ballygunner) 2. Shane Fives (Tourin) 3. Barry Coughlan (Ballygunner) 4. Noel Connors (Passage) 5. Tadhg de Burca (Clashmore / Kinsalebeg) 6. Austin Gleeson (Mount Sion) 7. Philip Mahony (Ballygunner) 8. Jamie Barron (Fourmilewater) 18. Darragh Fives (Tourin) 10. Kevin Moran (De La Salle) 11. Shane Bennett (Ballysaggart) 12. Michael Walsh (Stradbally) 13. Patrick Curran (Dungarvan) 14. Jake Dillon (De La Salle) 15. Colin Dunford (Colligan)

Kinda dissappointed Shanahan isnt starting for this, Im interested to see how O'Connor would get on as it would be his biggest challenge yet at full back. Its a tough team to beat, when you look at the midfield/forwards, players like Dunford, Dillon, Brick, Moran and Barron are real grafters, they wont stop working til the end, but theyve quality too.

I think looking ahead, I know it cliche but the start will be important. When you have two very systematic teams, the one that gets into gear early could really push on. Its going to be a big challenge for the likes of Cleary and Fitzgearld at half back, to see how settle down. Kk the last day set up very orthodox which made their job straight forward, but Waterford will be constantly moving around so they will have to be thinking on their feet. Also when they have the ball they wont be hitting into an open backline, quiet the opposite really.

    Looking forward to this game.

Shanahan is injured and probably won't see any action on Sunday.

Mind games by Waterford. I will be surprised if Shanahan does not come on to lift the crowd at some stage in the 2nd half.
His impact would be similar to that of Tony Kelly coming on against KK.

Genuinely not mind games he is struggling. Like Tony Kelly against kilkenny,if Shan was fully fit he would be starting.

credit to the clare herald for the line ups , looks like tony is not 100% , just like the kilkenny game he is marked down as full forward

Looking at that team I can see us in trouble securing our own puck out, I assume Kelly will be brought out to the midfield so we won't have a target at the edge of the square, unless Honan goes in there

not sure , kelly was struggling for movement when he came on against kilkenny as a result was left in full forward , he and podge will probably move out the field with Cunningham slotting in beside mcgrath , no colin ryan again so interesting to see who takes up the free taking duty connor did nothing wrong the last day , honan will probably remain on the 40 he dose seem more effective there

waterfords tactic of bringing there half forward line back will allow david fiz and cleary to push up for the clare puck outs , it definitely was one of the reasons we had so much success in the middle 3rd against kilkenny

if i had a worry it would be bugler or cian dillon getting caught in possession , the waterford forwards swarmed the limerick backs the last day and took several scores in the process them two are great ball winners but not the greatest ball players , both have had close shaves in recent games in terms of getting caught , one area where we will miss flanagan

will stick my head on the block and say clare by 3 in a tight battle , scored 6 goals in last two games against tipp and kilkenny , while conlon is a big loss i still feel cuningham ,kelly or honan would share a simular ball wining ability in the square and still cause several problems

the fact clare are unbeaten through out the calendar year thus far shows the confidence in the squad this year compared to the last two , and with the footballers win last week clare gaa is on a high , the hurlers can make it two national leagues titles in a week and win by 3 but only if they find the net again

Not saying they won't win but I strongly disagree there.

Did you mean 11/10, because they are no shorter than evens anywhere I see.

Clare are extended odds on PP from 5/2 to 3/1 to be leading at half time and to win, I took that. I also edged my bets with first goal scorer and I went for McGrath and Honan. Finally, I took the 7/4 that there'll be someone sent off.

Brutal display by Clare so far. 60 mins gone and they need to get the finger out big-time.

Jesus Clare full forward line are woeful in attack and defence. No where near winning Munster never Liam McCarthy.
Half forward line with that may I add
