Looks like that Roy Orbison yokey is on tonight at half ten.

The jazz programme looks good, might give that a go.

    Nice one Skid!

    Damn you, 2016! :(

    Another music legend gone.

    The extremely multi-talented Prince RIP.

Hopefully, BBC Four will once again show the excellent documentary from last year.

Even after a week I still can't believe how bad that rendition of My Ding A Ling was!!

Having a Beer & I was just like..... WTF???!!!

What about that series which Lulu (on the sixties) started last week?

What about that series which Lulu (on the sixties) started last week?

I think they are doing one episode for each decade every few months, and putting some similar programming up in the weeks that follow

The next one doesn't seem to be scheduled yet.

    The Purple One RIP

First two albums are classics :)

Even if you're not a fan, you gotta respect the way he took complete creative control of his career.

Much easier now of course, with the interwebs.

Must revisit his early stuff, he seems like an enormous talent. After his legal issues he was never really on the radar for me (all his tapes and CDs were too expensive and I didn't know anyone who had them who could lend them to me). Yeah, the Interweb would have made life a lot easier then!

A lot of critics seem to be referring to his 80's work as his 'imperial phase' in the last few days, but that's not to dismiss his early 90's stuff.

Still awesome songs, even if he was still contractually obligated to Warners at the time.

Hello, quiet enough weekend again - That Dave Clark produced Dave Clark/Dave Clark Five Doc is on again. It has its moments, and they were a decent band but I agree with the review on variety.com which said "Clark having written, directed and produced the documentary, which would have benefited from some trimming and a less self-aggrandizing approach."

Elsewhere some synthy stuff, Jools, Joy Division, TOTP, a Metallica film and lots of reliable repeats

Ah, the Dave Clark Five documentary!

The funniest TV event of the year :D

Forget The Beatles, The Stones, The Who, The Kinks, The Yardbirds and Hendrix...The DC5 created the zeitgeist for the 60's! :D

So I turn on MTV for the first time in a while. MTV Rocks has a selection of videos from 1975. Excellent!
Nope, a selection of videos from a band called The 1975. FFS.

I haven't had a chance to verify this...but I someone I usually trust when it comes to tunes recommended them. Actually two people.

I'll wait till I'm in bad form before checking them out, so I'm not too disappointed.

If you have access to the BBC Red Button service you might enjoy this. Doesn't seem to be scheduled on the regular telly at the moment, which is a shame. You can get the Red Button on Freesat and Sky by twiddling the knobs.

    ... Sings Prince
With the untimely passing of music superstar Prince, and in recognition and celebration of his prolific songwriting talent, this is a compilation of performances from the BBC archive of songs written by Prince but made famous by other artists.

Featuring Sinead O'Connor on Top of the Pops in 1990 performing Nothing Compares to U, American girl group the Bangles performing their Prince-penned smash Manic Monday in 1986 and a 20-year-old Alicia Keys on Later with Jools Holland in 2001 performing Prince's How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore? No compilation of Prince songs would be complete without Chaka Khan belting out I Feel For You. Plus the unique collaboration of Art of Noise and Tom Jones performing the iconic Prince hit Kiss on Top of the Pops, and a performance of The Holy River by the Purple One himself on Top of Pops in 1997.

Available on BBC Red Button until May 28th

    Dear Gene Simmons,

If I give you enough money, will you say that my band is more important than The Beatles?

    Kind regards

Even if you credit The Dave Clarke Five as being an influential, successful and popular band (which they were to be fair) ....

a lot of people reckon Mike Smith (The Keyboardist, Lead Singer and writer of many of their hits) was the real driving force behind the band. Not that you'd hear much about him in this yoke.

This is probably that crazy puff piece documentary. The real story of the dodgy credits, suppressed live recordings and studio recordings, did Dave play on any records would make a far more interesting watch!

I know for a fact BBC 4 passed on a Hollies documentary as too niche despite them being a much better and more enduring group...

    Yeah, this is that one.

Some of the amazon reviews were enlightening (to me, as someone who knew little about the band) about some of the strokes Dave Clarke pulled.

Interesting about the Hollies, a very underrated band.
