If only there were some great books they could pull some ideas from instead of making stuff up themselves ;)

PS, not seen the episode myself yet, but the interest is gone when I am reading the reaction here first before watching.

What exactly happened at the end? Was Arya blinded in the last season? What was that fight with the other girl all about? More tests I assume?

The many faced God picks out who they are meant to kill. Killing for revenge like arya did is a big no no and she was published by being blinded. The other girl is from the same group and is now going to make arya daredevil.

Their whole thing is about being no one and a blind girl begging us pretty good at being ignored.

    I just figured it out!!

why are they hiding in a Room??? because its a reference to Jesus before he was resurrected when his apostles hidin a room waiting to decide what to do! Martin loves his little historical/mythical references, and i think that's what this is

I think he will be reborn in the Pyre, they need to burn him to stop him becoming a Wraith. I think the Red Women will burn her self along with him.

I remember at the end of season 4, I wanted Dorne/the Martells to destroy the Lannisters as revenge for Oberyn.

Start of season 6 and I just want Cersei to wipe Dorne out.

Grand episode, just checked in on some characters to see where they at and refresh any memories.

Pretty certain Jon is now going to be resurrected for sure anyway considering the castle black stuff and the red witch (eww)

The one thing I really didn't like, was the dogs, where did the dogs go? Didnt see them get killed or anything and it stands to reason that as soon as the guy holding them let go they were gonna tear something to shreds!

Good to have it back, don't expect epics each week, looking forward to next week :)

Is the red lady a whitewalker ???. She looks like one at the end.

I thought davos would be angry and sad over the burning of the princess ?.

So Jon snow is going to be like Jesus and come back or is he dead. Fearing we will have to wait til episode 8/9 to find out

Already hate the dorne women and I hope there killed. I fear they will end up slaying the mountain

How is denereys going to escape being isolated in the widows temple ??

Can see ur man turning into a stone man very soon

Initial thoughts are that it wasn't a great episode. I think they should have wrapped up the "is he or isn't he dead" thing. Instead i can see this running on for another one or two episodes.

reek's got his confidence back i guess after his fresh kill. and now that sansa is accepting pledges of loyalty, bannermen will soon form in line to form a new army of the north.

    the queen of the north!

It did cross my mind that in Sansa, Pod, Theon and Brienne they have 4 "good guys" all grouped together - that can never be a good sign ha

    Sand snakes.

    Some bunch of lads.

I'm guessing things like the spear through the (back of?) the face were in reaction to all the mockery of their handslapping games etc last season. Still, they set up Dorne so unbelievably poorly (first time the show has really squandered any group/area as best I can remember. Some didn't like Qarth but I loved the weirdness of the place personally, even if the end of the warlocks was a bit weak) that it's going to take a lot of work to fix it.

Hopefully they get away from the 'GRL POWWWAAAA!' aspect of it, or at least being so heavy handed in getting that over, but I'm not holding my breath with lines like "you weak men cannot rule us" or "you were always so greedy!" after said face-spearing (both not direct quotes, I was half asleep long before the show started and need to rewatch during the week).

We noticed that too! I reckon it was down to "aaawww, doggies. People love doggies. Oh sh*t wait, we can't have one of our few 'good guys' killing dogs, especially not a Stark since they're tied in with wolves (e.g. dogs). Let's pretend they just ran off."

Which doesn't make sense for attack dogs, but I can kind of see why they did it. Still liked that scene, was interested to see Pod has picked up some competency and was nice/unexpected that he got his own kill. Still think Brienne should have been made to murder the f*** out of everyone a little quicker though, they seem intent on making her struggle in some battles a little much possibly because she is a woman, but she's meant to be one of the biggest badasses with a sword in hand on the whole show. Wouldn't mind having a few more scenes where she butchers smaller groups that size, kind of like we've seen the likes of The Hound do previously (if I recall).

Was I the only one faintly hoping though that rather than Brienne, the Brotherhood Without Banners were going to come flying in? Quick mystery arrow through the eye of the main fella followed by them emerging seemingly out of nowhere type of thing. Really want to see more of that group coming into it, hopefully Brienne, Sansa, Theon & Pod run into them at some point soon.

Honestly, your adding this in yourself. I didn't get any feminist-girl-power vibe at all. They just happen to be women talking to a man.

If I were adding it in myself, it would not have been a major talking point of last season. Part of what I like about the show is that you have characters like Daenerys, Mellisandre and Cersei who are very, very powerful and while being a woman in the GOT world has it's challenges that are brought up, it's not shoved in our face. The closest there might have been Brienne at times earlier in the series, but that would be more natural again as she is in the realm of physical combat which would have been utterly male dominated. Arya at times too because she was/is a little girl (were it a non-crippled Bran or Rickon in her role the obstacles would have been similar), but both of Jacquen D'Hagers apprentices are girls and there is barely a word said about it.

In Dorne by comparison, it's slapped in our face over and over (what was that "bad p*ssy" line from the end of last season to Bron, just before they set sail?) and it's really rather irritating how insistent on beating us over the head with it. It's a shame too because originally Dorne was getting set up to be so interesting and a tonne of fun in it's own right, and not just because of Oberyn but Ellaria too when they were both in Kings Landing. It's been built up a lot but has seriously failed to deliver thus far.

Like I said, it's a positive to see that the show has seemingly reacted to the negativity towards Dorne from last season, but I still think they are wide of the mark in several respects. A murderous, angry, matriarchal group could play excellently in the show - and between the family histories and the whole 'heat' (desert, dragons) imagery they would seem a pretty natural ally to Daenerys, who is one of the other few matriarchs in the show. I have zero issue with what they are doing at all, but they really are not doing in right in my opinion.

Can someone please explain how the girls got on the boat with Tristane to kill him? They weren't on it when he was leaving the harbour, were they?

Ahh, too many holes and inconsistancies like others have mentioned. Aside from the dogs disappearing, what about Jon's buddy just able to swan off and go find the Wildings (if that's who they were looking for help from) with no one from the Blackwatch to stop him going out the gate? I was taken out of that Blackwatch group scene by the appearance of the Vodafone pig guy. I fear he may get more airtime as the show goes on.

Someone mentioned Theon. I too, am not completely sold on Alfie Allen's portrayal of him - a little too theatre maybe! Some scenes were a little too convenient like like Ser Jorrah finding Danearys' ring in the open space. That sequence bugged me too - Dany was captured in the greeny lands, yet ends up back in the desert? Did they travel backwards or is there more desert than we know of? I haven't studied the map of the GoT world too closely so I'm not quite sure where they are supposed to be.

I find that I'm less and less interested in certain characters as the seasons go on. I couldn't be arsed about the Martell women on any level, but it does appear they're here to stay and will have some outcome on what goes on in King's Landing. No interest in Maergery Tyrell's story either, but I think Natalie Dormer is pretty hot, so I don't mind!

Let's hope we see some proper ass kicking next week.

    .

Gotta disagree here. Firstly about Theon-considering the physical and psychological torture he has been through I think Alfie Allen is nailing the performance tbh
Also they didn't just find Danys ring in the open space, they found it where the Dothraki had circled her- the ground was trampled all around..
Agree that it was weird how Edd was able to just leave Castle Black with no one stopping him

Some will like Allen's performance others won't. A bit like Daniel day Lewis in some of his roles - personally I couldn't take to him in There will be Blood.

I have to say, I didn't really make out the trampled circle - my.. ahem.. stream wasn't the full HD.;)

If they're trying to delay Jon Snow's revival then it's pretty shoddy. Hiding in a room, really? It wouldn't be hard to barge through and slay then all

    It's annoying me tbh.

They're either milking it and he's coming back

    Or

He's not coming back but they're milking it for TV anyway

Like we don't know if he's coming back but unlike everyone else, his body is still right there so we're left guessing till next week. May as well find a new city called Summer Bay right beside Dorne and take it from there.

Also if they killed him, then that was dumb. No lead actor left at castle black, the night's king confrontation wasted, no wall, no wildlings. Killing him off makes no sense.
