This applies to any ad really but I hate ads with car horns, sirens and Luas sounds. A nuisance when driving

oh the Eff'in voicebox on yer one from the Clonmel hearthcare ad, she pops up from time to time on other ads. I had the misfortune of seeing her the the movie Steller Days a while back , now I know what she looks like and it makes the pain even worse !!!!!!!! she is so mono-f'n-tone she makes Leonard Cohen sound like a soprano.
Newstalk - you have a lot to answer for, my nerves are shattered :(

    I trust.....(plink, plink) ...my kids......ARGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

There's an old blues song that always pops into my head when I hear that ad.

It's called "Bring me my shotgun".

Finny the F*cking Frog. Is that an American accent? A really affected D4 accent? A mix of both?

Either way, it shreds my nerves. I have to change stations when it comes on.

Yes, I dread hearing it too. Nova seem to play it at almost every ad break. Another one played on a loop is for E-Receptionist. The chap getting a call about doing a pool for someone in Dalkey, but not being able to take it because he was in the jacks in Balbriggan. Something to that effect anyway!

Yeah that ad drives me mad too...Nova play a lot of those ads for smaller companies: Trimtech, Cuddles Pet Store, Flightwise, Kilcock Car Dismantlers....

Velux have taken that annoying Lidl template by having your man from Fair City explain something and having a brat instead an ould one with an irritating over the top reaction, if your going to steal an idea, don't steal the most annoying one possible.

Also some ad featuring a tuneless version of 'Breaking Up Is Hard To Do' is painful to listen to.

George Hook is doing a voiceover for some company called Bluebird except he is a tool and is pronouncing it as "Bluebirt". He says it about 5 times during the ad. Who produces these ads? Do they not listen back and hear him say it wrong?

Is it a higher-pitch voice to appeal to kids?

That's what I always thought - agree it grates though.

The new Energia ad sounds like someone with a squeeky voice having sex.

My Christ, I heard one today for TileStyle and it's sung in the tune of "April Showers".
    Give me strength.

Pretty sure that's illegal in England or parts of America.

Illegal here too (according to the BAI advertising codes) but only at the very start of an ad. Once it's not the very first thing you hear, it's allowed.

Not sure if this has been mentioned sorry if it has..

It's not ad an as such, but it's been cropping up at the end of ads for gigs/theatre shows etc.

Tickets from however much, "additional charges apply in certain circumstances" ?????

What's this all about, you've paid your ticket money, service fee, and now additional charges...what next??

Credit cards and one crowd who run venues now have somthing like a building maintainence charge or some sort of charge to do with running and maintaining the actual building

I know I'm a bit of an old woman but that power company ad with the ditzy woman who's 'not thinking about bills' and instead musing about whether her newborn is beach baby or a 'city baby' (cos that's a thing now...) almost caused me to crash the car a few weeks ago when the traffic horns kicked in. I've heard the ad dozens of times but I nearly had a heart attack.

Ad for Des Kelly - 'when did we change the beds'. Oh shut up!

Oh god, I absolutely despise the ad and the b*stards that would inflict this on the nation. It seems the whole point of the ad is to draw your attention to it by the fact that it is sooooo irritating. That's Owen Roe voicing it, so I'm holding him responsible for it by association as well.

+ 100. Abysmal ads and damned irritating.

Maybe we should start naming and shaming the advertising agencies that think up and create these unavoidable blood pressure raisers... If only RTE was an ad free broadcaster.

Wall to wall car ads on Newstalk these days...only broken by news agency ads on Thursday and Friday! The good times are back!

The one ad that's driving me crazy is the Aer Lingus "Smart" ad. Aer Lingus used to do good ads but this one is so annoying and is on ad infinitum.

What genius holiday/travel company decided to advertise their wares in GranD Canaria?

(super-clearly enunciated just in case there was any doubt)

I don't know if it's been posted yet but the velux ad with Wayne from Fair City doing the VO and some kid going

    "Get in my son"

    And some other cockney sayings.

Are you so lazy you take an ad clearly written for the UK market and just re-record it here with Irish VO's? OR (and this would be worse) we've become so British that the expressions the child uses are now commonplace here?

I lived in England. I never said sh*t like that.
