The original AMG alloys suit them alot better still nice though and pretty rare being 3 generations old now.

This won't appeal to everybody, but at €2k or thereabouts it would make for cheap entry to luxobarging. Not sure about those wheels however

Stunning motor for the money!!!!! love it

I would love that. Proper proper luxobarge for cheap. A few names would be swapped in the ownership, if it were mine of course.

Don't like the wheels at all, but it looks to be a well cared for car.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,800 ✭✭✭The Guvnor

I'd change the wheels but apart from that it looks great!
I saw a 96 500 parked here in Dundalk a week or so back - still looks like a great car and the shape is still sharp!

Fantastic car. Just traded it in myself after three years of ownership. It was well cared for by myself and the previous owners. Can't recommend these w140s enough.

    John.

    2007 Citroen C6 2.7 HDI V6 EXCLUSIVE AUTO €6,950
A bit over budget, but these C6s are finally approaching Luxobarge criteria.
    Take a look.

I'm sure the seller didn't mean it when he said "SOOTLESS CONDITION. "

I absolutely adore these cars. If I didn't have a decent family car already I'd be very interested. Maybe in the future.

They're so oddly shaped but imo beautiful. So classy.

    They're so awesome!

My distrust of French cars, coupled with the 2.7 road tax, would steer me clear for another while.

Only nice when they have cream interior.

Yep that colour interior photos great but it's rotten in person. The cream is lovely though.

Actually looking at it again it might be brown rather than that orange colour... The brown might be nice.

Personally I think it's beyond fugly but each to their own.

It's gone further than that, so far thats it's in its own class, but I'd buy it for the extreme factor alone.

Have we had this? S500 long wheel base with (non-PSV) tax till 9/16 and test until 2/17 €4k. Is that reasonable?

Not a bad find, fair bit of tax on it as well

I'm just not a fan of the silver! Any other colour, but preferably black/ blue for a barge

+1 , lovely car (with the exception of no nav, and there was 2003 facelifts for very similar money in times past) but I really don't like the black leather / silver paint combo in a car, especially one that size.

black / blue with a cream interior is where its at :pac:

CD plate. Wonder when that officially expired?

If it was, say, an embassy (ambassador) car, the service history should be huge.

Love the full tank of fuel too. I really like seeing that in a car for sale for some reason. Makes me think that money is no object and they haven't cut corners anywhere.

I'm almost sure those photos have been taken in the Chilean Ambassadors residence in Sandycove.

I'm trying to imagine how that Daimler drives.... 375 BHP Supercharged V8 and maybe a slightly tired suspension.... YEEEHAA!

    Serious car.

    HJ says:

"Don't buy a 97 - 99 XJ8 VIN from 812256 to 878717 inclusive unless it has had a replacement engine, indicated by a special tag on the nearside of the engine block. Beware of rattles from timing chain as tensioner could be about to let go. Plastic tensioners were later replaced by steel tensioners which can be fitted to earlier cars."

Safe to think this car must have had an engine replacement?

You could probably bank on it alright. Is that including the Supercharged models?

If whoever bought that is on here, I know where you can get some wheels...

Same engine, Nikasil issue, so I would say so.

Genuine looking car here with fresh test and refurbished wheels by the looks of it, see the bump protectors on the door I haven't seen them on a car in donkeys years..

I'm interested in someday owning an XJ or Daimler from any era (obviously without Nikasil problem) and preferably above the 3.2 litre given you're paying the high tax anyway. I would be using this as a daily driver and just wafting along in luxury.

    What's stopping me is
1 you never seem to see one with mega miles. Do they all just die before say 160k ?

2 they always seem a bit unjustifiably overpriced compared to other luxury marques. Do others notice this ?i

3 leaving aside the Nikasil the list of things that has to be watched and maintained on a supercharged model seems daunting. It really seems like a supercar that you have to mind like a baby
