Forecast for the South, Cork in particular, doesn't look good for tomorrow with up to 70mm of precip reported to fall. Higher grounds look like getting the worst of it, making climbing conditions almost impossible and you could be looking at the risk of of water/mud running off hills onto the roads.

Met Eireann have issued an Orange warning for Cork and Yellow for Clare, Limerick, Tipp and Waterford.

Very strong Easterly winds tomorrow.

Cork airport 6pm TAF gives 080 degrees 25knots gusting 40knots and 100 degrees 27knots gusting 45knots. Both speeds almost unheard of from that directions/

Wind warning for easterly winds, not too common!

Was crossing sarsfield bridge in Limerick and was surprised at the strength of the wind for the direction, very rare alright. There seems to be some rain shield operating here as other than a light shower about 9 it seems to be missing us.

Cork got battered this morning from primarily coastal / tidal flooding. The gale force Easterly wind today won't leave this mornings high tide out and will back up the harbour. Tonight's high tide around 8:30 will be far more serious imo. A red alert wouldn't surprise me for Cork later.
It's certainly warranted as life will be at risk near the shore.

In summary expect this mornings on going flood to be a splash in the park compared to what's coming...

And even less common is the fact that the Easterly wind warning is mainly for Western counties!

Christ that's horrible is there no end to this seriously? We deserve 31 days in July over 25 degrees after this appalling weather.

Easterlies with spring tides are always bad news for Cork city, this mornings flooding seems more widespread than usual judging from the Facebook page.

What's strange about this morning is how it's not really subsiding (if reports are true south terrace is still flooded) with high tide passed nearly 3 hours ago

Quite stormy with heavy rain in West Clare atm. Bit louder than usual and different noises than usual thanks to the easterly wind this time.

Classic FM Radio Show gave a token report on Cork Flooding just now right at the end of their News slot AFTER informing us of Yesterdays Grand National Winner and its Irish connections !! Tells you they way they think ...if it aint Dublin it doesnt matter !

Some heavy rain moving up through Munster at the moment. Been raining here near Tralee since about 7.30 and already have 12.4mm.

Right in the middle of that red and it's well noticeable! Although it's lightened in the past 5 minutes, it was very extreme before that.

Pretty wild here too the last hour or so. Nothing unusual about the speed itself(gusting near 40 knots) but the unusual direction makes it seem oddly clamorous or something.

I see Cork Airport has already had a 90 kph gust.

Waterford airport has had winds up to 80 kph

On farming forecast on RTE, Siobhan said the warning lasts till 6am tomorrow morning with rain, sleet and snow.

Heavy rain here near Tralee, coming up on 20mm ! Out clearing drains awhile ago, some flow of water. Raining since just about 07.30.

Drove from Waterville to Wicklow today and went through a range of weather and temperature.
Woke up to snow on mountains above and on hills lower down surrounding Lough Currane which I've never seen before in APril
Coldest spot was in the oddest place. Coastal drive on either side of Kell's Bay on the Ring, temperature dropped below freezing briefly, very heavy snow and I was driving in slush. Mountains completely white back inland and to low levels in the Behy Valley. Couldn't see the Reeks but they had about 24 hours of very heavy snow on top of some from two days back.
Driving sleet on the pass into Limerick and temperature rose steadily from average of 2 in Kerry to 5 all the way to Portlaoise where it got up to 9 and I saw the sun. By the time I hit m50 it was 12..... so 13 degree difference.
I've had that several times driving East/West. Don't ever remember it other way around with Waterville as end point.
