Tipperary have changed their goalkeeper for Sunday, I hope that he is well tested.

yeah , i would be more worried about his neck come the end of the game , doubt he will have too many saves to make , from play we barely troubled the likes of kerry , or laois for goals in division 1B ,i cant see that stat change tomorrow

    fixtures over the week

    sunday

football vs kildare : newbridge 2pm

win or draw and division 2 football next year , lose , and its hope other results go our way , podge set to make his first start in almost a year in either code after (surprisingly in my opinion) declaring for the footballers this weekend ahead of the tipp game in the bark , either way he will be a big addition ,he will most likely replace pat burke in what will be the only change from last weeks win over longford

    hurling

    clare v tipperary @ cusack park 3:45

tieof the round in the 1/4 finals of the league ,our first real test in my opinion of the year should give us an indication of where we are , again with a number of players out it wil be a tough ask to keep the 100% record for 2016 intact , darrach honan will replace the injured shane o'donnell , conor cleary comes back in for david mac, while the slightly surprising change see's crusheen's ciaran o'doherty get his first start ahead of oisin o'brien ,it looks like it will be back to the old routine as colm galvin will move out the field leaving honan and conor mcgragh in the full forward line , john conlon , bobby duggan and aaron cuningham will be on the 40 most of our scores are set to come from out the field or on frees , so a big ask for bobby again with so many players out it will be hard to win this one but hopfully with a big crowed and the cameras back in town we can improve to get over this huge hurdle massive improvement in front of goal neaded tomorow

    wednesday : gealic grounds @7pm

    clare v limerick

first round of the minor championship , and probably the first time in 3 years thanks to a new system and the luck of the draw in the past the minors will be presented with a second chance should they fail to get over this hurdle , management didnt sond too confidant on the radio the other day , with lilkley only one starter from last year this could be a tough night , on the other hand there were a large number of clare lads on the reacent ard scoil ris team that got to the croke cup final, peter casey will be the oppisition stand out player no doubt , doubt there will be much in it at the end , results sound positive from challenge matchs played over the last two months , a win will book us a semi final place which i wouldnt rule out

hurlers line up for tomorow, still a number of key players out,

    [URL9JD3lm.jpg[/URL]

footballers side v kildare , dean ryan back in for gordon kelly , i expect to see podge start though, probably for pat burke

Heading to the park more in hope than expectation. Very worried about our defence against the Tipp attack

Our defense will be ok cause we'll probably play with 2 sweepers so there won't be much fear of a goal, that'll mean however that our forwards will be totally dominated.

Still have put a tenner on Conlon to score the first goal

If we were injury free I'd give us a decent chance, especially being at home.

But given the circumstances, it's a very big ask today, probably too big

Sligo have beaten Tipp so we're up, WOOHOOOO

I thought that the Sligo game was a draw? Longford have beaten Westmeath so that means that we are up even though Offaly won also. Offaly have beaten both ourselves and Longford, does it definitely go to scoring difference then?

Clare, Offaly and Longford finish on 8 points. Clare go through on score difference

9/1 so €100 back. Sorry about the Sligo thing, should always check my sources.

Anyone know why the ball was thrown in at the end of the half there??

    Was wondering the same thing.

The free taking today from both teams isn't exactly top standard

Let off the hook by Tipp's awful free taking.

    Missed a few ourselves....

Callanan never got into the game, although Dillon was excellent

    Great day for Clare gaa.

Congrats to footballers on the promotion.

Hard to figure out the hurlers result. Never really looked like winning the game and completely snatched it.

Delighted though. Kilkenny next isn't it??

Yep its great playing the big boys in the important end of the league before championship. We went in a bit soft last year. Looks like there is plenty of competition in the squad these days.

I figured that if Clare were going to get a goal today that it'd be in the first few minutes and that Conlon would be the most likely to get it, I wasn't looking at the 9/1 rather the 18/1 if it was in the first 10 minutes, still €100 is a great result, I will after-time and admit that spotting Memphis going from 6/1 to 9/1 to score in the soccer as I had to prove a "I told you so", so €180 up after a day isn't too bad :D

In the cold light of day, j@ysus that was a bad game of hurling, we won and now we get to find out what we're like against Kilkenny, in 95 it was the making of us with the dropping of Mc and Lyons, I don't know that'll happen this time but it's a perfect game to have McInerney, Ryan and Kelly to come back into.

great win today with so many players out , we needed this type of squad rotation last year though , great 2nd goal by shanagher too , david fitsgerald looks like a really deacent player in the making , in all his games so far he has failed to put in a bad run ,

kilkenny next should be another good work out tony kelly is expected to return for that one but it looks like conlon will be out , it seems he played the second half with a broken wrist !!!!

happy enough with the improvement on the limerick game and given the injuries we cant complain with 2016 , still unbeaten which shows progress is being made . . . . .4 more years anyone

the footballers ran out of steam in the last 15 minuets against a descent kildare side in newbridge , put in an excellent first half performance ,but with injuries for keelan sexton and his replacement shane mcgrath limited our scoring options , key score contributors in previous games , jamie malone pearce lillis and cian o'dea spent most of the 2nd half adopting defensive rolls while it would seem podge is not fully fit yet he had a run out for 20 minutes but was'nt really in the game

great to go up , but we will need to find one or two more players over the club championship later in the summer , colm collins and co deserve great credit none the less

Ah shyte, your not serious Conlon broke his wrist? This injury/unavailability list is out of control now.

Delighted to get the win today though. It could be argued on the balance Tipp were a tad better, but there are alot of positives for Clare especially with the raft of player unavailable, I counted 11 today. Its a while since we came out with a win in a tight phyiscal match (maybe since KK in 2014). Getting to play another round vs Kilkenny is huge too.

Bit worried about our full back line at the moment, theres few options. Pat O'Connor will have to stay back there for the year now, but an injury to Dillon would be a massive blow, he is holding things together back there for us.

it most likley is a fracture but they wont know until tomorrow , fitz himself said on the radio this evening that he is fairly doubtful at the moment for the semi final

would'nt worry about full back come championship ,if we move david mac back there it will allow conor cleary in to center back which would be strong enough for me , you also would have morey and browne coming back also , but for the kilkenny game another injury at the back or anywhere would be a worry

If we could get Seadna back ready for the championship that would be great. Against Waterford our match ups would then be something like Dillon on Shanahan, Poc on Curran and Seadna on Dunford who would suit his pace. Id be ok with those pairings. Seadna had a hip op though which is quite serious .

Some nice competition for spots on the team at half back and for one or two positions up front. Honan put his hand up today, but it will be a big test to see can he back it up v KK.

Massive congrats to clare footballers. When Colm Collins took job to get out of division 4 was a achievement after years of struggle. To gain promotion to division 2 is something else and fair play to team and management. What did Tubridy get sent off for?

it was off the ball but in front of about 2000 kildare supporters right in front of the stand , lets just say striking action , pity because he will miss out in what would be only his 2nd game in croker , at the time though no one knew what was happening else where and the game had just gone away from us , we played well for most of the game but when we got injuries we just didnt have any more in reserve , we have somewhere between 5 to 7 possible players injured at the moment that could be starters podge was'nt 100% either

collins has done a superb job , the job is his for another 3 years surely if he wants it ,his tenure is up at the end of the year ....it should be a no brainer really

Hopefully CC stays on great to see so many young players making the breakthrough . Jamie Malone really stepped to be key player over last 12 months

I thought Fitzy made a bit of a meal of it but Tubridy did strike him.

Some laugh at the end with the whole Clare panel huddled around the dugout all looking frantically at the one mobile phone screen! :D
