Interesting from JK. Says money or belts not the motivation. Said he chased down this rematch as last fight he believed wasn't an accurate representation of his skills

JK "made mistakes etc etc...on a related note buy my book" :D

We all agree he won the first rd,big deal but it wasnt the shut out people Kavanagh included are making it out to be,Diaz was in no danger whatsoever in round 1 he was finding his range and rolling with the punches, really bugs me that bit,its thought of as some 10-8 murder scene,it was far from it I've watched it numberous times, and I say this as a Conor fanboy, still.

If Conor goes in picks his shots defends well and moves his head out of trouble then over 5 rounds wears the legs off Diaz and either finishes him or gets the decision he will be a living legend.
Dropping down to 45 and thumping the head off Aldo (Aldo will destroy frankie in my opinion) will be his last fight at 145
If he loses to Diaz he will still drop to 45 and thump Aldo but for half the money
I think he's on the opposite of a hiding to nothing and he wants to wipe the Diaz loss off his record. If he can or can't I admire the fight in the dog even if I end up worrying about the dog in the fight.

The nonsense and trolling starts much quicker these days than when McGregor was only starting in the UFC. Glad to see the trolls are keeping up with when he is fighting and taking such an interest. :pac:

    This fight is a joke.

And to top it off, McGregor is headlining the biggest event of the year in a meaningless welterweight bout, above the title fight in the division he has disrespected and abandoned.

If Bellator were doing this Dana would be mocking them all day long.

Anyone find it a bit strange that Conor has never defended any of his titles. Either in Cw or Ufc. not once .

They're just milking Conor for all the money they can get out of him while they can. Which is pretty much what he's doing too.

I'm pretty new to UFC, but is it not very unusual to get a rematch so soon after the initial fight? Is there a precedent for this?

Nope not unusual, theres have been plenty of immediate rematches in the past. If Aldo was fit to fit sooner then he may have gotten a rematch(he turned down fighting at 196 when RDA dropped out)

I don't find it strange, after he won the two CW titles he signed with the UFC. Legally he wasn't able to defend it as he was under contract.

True, I forgot that Aldo had been offered the rematch against Conor. I wouldn't have minded that actually, given how short their fight was.

I just hope we get a different fight even if it's the same fighters. I doubt Conor's stupid enough to go with the same game plan again though.

Dana says even jk tried to talk conor out of taking this fight again.

It does seem like a big risk. There were plenty of "safe" options.

A second loss to Diaz would be disastrous. Conor would have to just admit he can't beat Diaz at that point.

The only thing about Aldo at 196 it probably wouldn't have been for the 145 title as McG was training to fight at 155. So starting to try and get his weight down to 145 with 11 days notice may not have been possible. Doesn't matter now of course as its in the past.

More cardio, any gameplan that doesn't involve throwing huge left hands the whole time and sticking to a gameplan will be the plan for this fight.

Personally, I'm not that excited by the prospect. After McG's humble and respectful attitude after losing already I think it will be very hard to try with the usual pre fight build up and slabbering.

Kicks to the body like the mendes fight will be the plan.

I remember discussing the weight thing re Aldo with some lads at work. If I were Aldo I wouldn't take a fight at a different weight, I'd want a shot at my title back. Like you said that's in the past now (or possibly in the future, after 200)

Good point about the buildup. I find Conor's sh1te talking to be very entertaining and I don't know how he's going to manage to talk sh1te about the guy who choked him out only a few weeks ago.

It was a lazy kick to the body that got him taken down in the first round wasn't it?

You have to admire Conor doing the rematch at 170. That's the sign of a competitor.

When other fighters stick to their religiously own weight divisions, when Ronda essentially had a mental breakdown after a loss and other fighters are allegedly running for the hills away from Cyborg, he says let's dance again Nate.

If it was just about the pay cheque, he could have done it at 155 and nobody with a shred of sense would have blamed him.

UFC 200 is essentially the Conor show now. Some feat for a guy from Ireland, and I'm proud of him. He's brought a lot of new fans to the sport (including myself) and I really don't get why there's such annoyance from some quarters and some posters on here. Sure, some new fans haven't a clue like myself, but surely it's with new fans that you grow the sport. It's with super-fights (or freak shows as Nate calls them) that you grow the sport too.

Going by some posts on here, some people would like MMA to stay a niche sport, their own little baby, cos they've been watching since the sport's infancy. Do you really want that? Dana has a show that essentially cruises around bar fights trying to find the next star for feck sake :).

For example, if it was me, I'd be hoping to see CM Punk do well. It will bring in more fans, bring more attention. But no, mind would a WWE guy be successful in MMA, our baby.

Some people just don't get it. Sport is as much about entertainment, and like it or not, every sport needs to appeal to the masses if it is to thrive.

Anyway, sorry about the mini rant. What time does Conor come to the ring, I want to set my alarm :)

    Aldo/Edgar is not the co-main.

So there is going to be another title fight...keeping with the bellator theme it could be Tank Abbott Vs Miesha Tate :pac::pac:

Seriously now....Lawlor v Conduit rematch? Tate v Holm/RR(I think they'll want to keep RR for a separate ppv IF she comes back). RDA v Alvarez?

    Dana is full of crap.

It shouldn't be JK or Conor's call. It's the UFC who book the fights and this one is a sham.

After all his good work in beating Mendes and Aldo, McGregor is making himself into a joke by refusing not once, but twice to defend his belt.

Yep, I think they know a LOT of people think this is a daft fight and are just trying to remove themselves a bit from the decision to book it, putting it all on Conor - even though ultimately it's their bloody decision.

He's took mendes and diaz on short notice,I think hes earned the right to be honest in trying to redeem himself, the ufc pay him well but they owe him considering he could've pulled from 2 massive ppv cards.

When did he refuse to defend the belt the first time? Aldo and Frankie both couldn't compete at UFC 196.

Signing to fight Dos Anjos was the first time. He chose to chase the lightweight belt instead of defending the featherweight one. That time was somewhat acceptable though given that he had a shot at history.

This is his second time failing to defend the featherweight belt except this time it is for a completely meaningless fight.

Lads there's a difference in conor not defending his belt he's active not injured so he should be defending it or vacate it. No Shame in vacating it.
