I seen a post on twitter yesterdday that said rumoured UFC200 fight is McGregor Vs GSP & instantly thought BS and gave it no more thought....but now Nate's came out talking about it(I'm not sure if this is where yesterday's rumour maybe started)
"I put a big old hole in that sh*t," Diaz said. "What do you guys think that I'm some game to be played with? I've been in this game for too long to f*ck with.
"Yeah, they had GSP there. We're gonna have this big old GSP-McGregor show bullsh*t. I don't even want to hear about that. GSP is gonna come out of f*cking retirement to fight this little ass Conor McGregor? What the f*ck? This is all just a freak show now. So now what did I do? I pissed off Conor McGregor, I pissed off GSP and most of all I pissed off the UFC. But LOL mother f*ckers.

He hasn't been overlooked. He is a great fighter. It's just the guys who have beat him haven't played into his hands. There's a way to beat Nate and Conor chose the wrong path.

Nate did roll with most of the punches. Took some damage. And beat Conor in the second. It's pretty simple.

Is Conor capable of fighting the right way to beat him though ? Dos Anjos laid on the pressure and dominated him. McGregor gassed after one round of pressing him. He's not going to knock him out or submit him so his only real options is go the distance and win on points.

But if McGregor conserves energy for a 5 round fight then he's essentially giving Diaz 5 rounds to try catch him. Given McGregor fights with his hands down anyway in the latter rounds when he's tired Diaz is going to catch him or take him down.

Thats what were going to find out in the rematch, can Conor fight in a point scoring style against his ego while not gassing or getting out struck.

You seem to be forgetting the part where Diaz outfought and beat McGregor.

Really? Where did I indicate I'd forgotten that?
Diaz hasn't been overlooked. He's got plenty of fights against plenty of top guys in the UFC. He's not an exceptional fighter by any means but he's a good fighter and he had the beating of McGregor which I'm sure he'll have again given he'll actually train for the next fight...

I just find it hilarious how Nate is now being feted by the media and fans (many of which actively dislike Conor).

He beat the man, so now he becomes the man?

I like Nate a lot, but he's durable, not great.

I hope we do see the rematch, preferably at 155, so we can all see what happens. It's interesting that given the nature of Nate's win that there is still questions to be answered, mainly from Conor admittedly.

A random thought,Conors gullotine defence is one of the most impressive tools in his arsenal that he doesnt get credit for to escape one of mendes and a diaz one is pretty impressive.

I'm of a similar opinion to Subcomandante. He gets the reddit for the guillotine escape verses Mendes, but he didn't escape Diaz's. That foot trap* prevented McGregor getting to side control. I don't think he was actually going for the same gator roll escape as the Mendes fight, I think he was going for a dope pass (like the Siver finish) but Diaz pushed him over, and McGregor tried to switch to a gator roll but behind Diaz and got mounted.

*That foot trap was a tiny detail but had a huge impact without it McGregor didn't get finished in Rd2.

You forgot the part where Nate then walked on water.

Amazing how Nate has been so overlooked as the great fighter he is all these years, isn't it?

Of course if Conor had won the narrative would have been "Nate took a hit off the bong and rolled off the couch with no camp. How could he have won?".

    What a load of rubbish.

Nate overlooked you for real? Since winning TUF he has constantly competed against the top guys and in over 20 fights in the UFC has NEVER appeared on the prelims of a card he featured on.

Also the drug test results were made public the other day, No bong for Nate :D he has NEVER tested positive for weed like his brother has either.

The thing is, he doesn't even need to fight in a point scoring style. Nate, and Nick for that matter, are extremely heavy on that front foot and they don't back off it regardless. Conor needs to shred the **** out of his lead leg and take it from there.

The thing is, its the blueprint that has been there for a long time so you would have to think he would have definitely known about this before the fight. My gut tells me he assumed with such little prep time he would steam roll Nate, like he has done everybody else, a blitz attack would get it done for him. Nate would just be there for the payday and would break.

Then he panicked when that didn't happen.

Oblique kicks didn't look like they were going to be effective though, and he is taking a risk by throwing legs obviously. It is the tried and tested method of beating Nate though.

They make the money regardless, they be alright.

Aldo v Edgar is gonna be good, really can't call that right now!

McGregor insisting on this fight being 170 is a puzzler in all honesty.

McGregor wanting the fight at 170 is for his own ego.

If he loses this one, he's in a spot of bother. He'll be in a no man's land as I assume he has no intention of defending the 145 strap, then losing twice to the #5 Lightweight in succession.

I don't see how he wins this one either.

    You reckon?

People are wheeling out excuses after the last time though. If he loses twice its harder to come up with an excuse. Another Diaz finish and Conor's stock drops a bit further.

If he loses then the UFC have ensured there will be another big fight ahead for him in the shape of a FW unification fight, maybe at the first MSG card. If Nate does beat him again I doubt he'd vacate the belt.

Losses this time all hes gotta do is come out hands up and blame the weight and admit he lost to the better man, sure his stock falls a bit with the public but nothing like a loss to Edgar or Aldo, its genius really guaranteeing a massive payday.

A double loss to the "better man" who's ranked number 5 and isn't even an actual 170lber.

Sure won't be the deadly striker the majority of viewers thought he was anymore.

Diaz is my favourite again anyway.

This is far from a genius move, its genius if you really believe and accept you will never beat Frankie or Diaz,if thats the case then it is a genius move to maximize his amount of big fights.

But if he intends on being champion at 55 or being still considered in the very elite of the UFC then its one of the dumbest moves i think i have ever seen,he is fighting Diaz who imo at 55 is a very winnable fight and taking him on at 170 with a full camp, its basically as unwinnable a fight as you will ever see,and doing it in a rematch where he wont get a third shot ever at Nate.

He cares more for money than any belt, that is very clear.

John Kavanagh: Conor is the more skilful fighter and he’ll prove that in July

Interesting from JK. Says money or belts not the motivation. Said he chased down this rematch as last fight he believed wasn't an accurate representation of his skills
